Fort Adams, a National Historic Landmark, is the most complex coastal fortification in the United States. Constructed 1824-57, Fort Adams was designed to defend against attacks from both land and sea; remaining in active use through World War II.  Self-guided tours provide unmatched views of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay from atop the walls, access to newly restored areas, the Parade Field and more.
