I export melodies and chord structure into Cubasis2 all the time. KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK!! LOVE this latest update with the ability to edit/recall saved projects! **Developer response:** Hi there! Technically, it is possible to run Fortamento's iPhone version on iPad. We haven't started working on iPad support yet, but it is definitely on our roadmap. There are many improvements that iPad format allows, such as fitting the whole tune for editing in a single screen, so it's a bit larger project than a simple resizing of the layout. Super clean UI holding a rather flexible set of configurable parameters, making it by far the most customizable AND easy to use generative app I’ve come across. Could use a bit more of a instrument selection although I have grown fond of the pads. I probably haven’t done more than star and app in 2 years, but I feel compelled to shout out the dev for an awesome, well thought out and awesome tool. Fortamento team ### 5/5 — Exactly what I’ve been looking for *2018-06-08* It took me a long time to find an app like this, I don’t know where it was hiding but it should certainly have a higher profile than it does. This is really a brilliant way to write music for those who aren’t super comfortable with music theory and a great way to get some inspiration for those who are. Just randomly generate a melody (and accompanying chords) and you instantly have what is, more often than not, a brilliant starting point for you to flesh out and add your own touch. While this app is fantastic as it is, I sincerely urge the developers to continue to work on it and I’m sure they could easily justify an increase in the price to reward their efforts, excellent job so far. **Developer response:** Thank you for your kind words, such feedback is very inspiring for us. However the rest of the app is pretty rough around the edges. Problems: - ui is horrible - midi integration is terrible, painful to use - menu layouts is very poor, requires way too much tapping, doesn’t implement swipe controls - auditioning and changing built in instruments is painful Bottom line, until proper midi support is implemented and ui experience is fixed, do not buy. **Developer response:** Hi calvinbrodice, I was quite surprised to receive such a negative feedback on the UI. While there are improvements that we keep making with each version and receive great feedback, your review and rating indicate a major problem in GUI and MIDI implementation without much detail (hopefully not for the sake of just lowering the overall rating) We do listen to our users and implement requested features, and we would be happy to hear your requests and suggestions and try to implement them in our app - please contact us at team@fortamento.com Thanks, Yevgeny from Fortamento ### 2/5 — Very limited for £4.99 *2018-07-24* A nicely packaged app, but the quality of the output is very limited, and gives only basic chord sequences with very “computer generated” sounding melodies. There’s no way to provide input into the generation, and you’re completely locked to diatonic chords and melody. There are a lot better tools out there. **Developer response:** Hi jm3159, Thank you for the honest review. Fortamento is not a performance tool and works much better as the initial spark for a song - after importing the output MIDI file to a DAW you are no longer limited in scales,chords,time signatures etc. It is definitely possible to provide input to both chords and melody while in the app (within the diatonic scale, as you have correctly mentioned). To do that, simply tap on one of the chords or the melody bars. Of course, we are working on improving Fortamento in all aspects, be that harmonic (4 note chords, different scales) or rhythmic (swing, time signatures, triplets), but such tasks are not trivial and take time and effort. Thank you and we hope you can make creative use of our app. Fortamento team ### 3/5 — Nice Aesthetics, Over Simplifed depends on you. *2018-04-05* Nice, dark and readable, I wish the tempo adjustment and chord changes was adjustable on the playing page. Both are nested one button away in settings. Going to any preference screen with options is my threshold what I consider my break-in-my-flow feeling. So since I’m more organic with tempos I would naturally like it more accessible. ### 4/5 — Is anyone listening? *2020-08-04* The latest lock chords mode is useful, but what is needed is an option to tie notes together, thus sustaining duration. Add AU3 and Landscape mode, and this would be worth at least five times the initial cost. Nic ### 4/5 — Gets the juices flowing! *2019-09-10* Great sounds and fairly easy 2 octave melody range and extremely easy to edit. I would suggest expanding the bar limit. Perhaps up to 8 or 16 instead of just 4 and on the melody editor I would suggest to shade it like the piano keys to help locate the octave notes easier. But 4 “updates” would take it to the next level: 1) More than 4 base chords 2) Individually editable cells in the base chord progression. 3) Editable chord (cell) lengths in quarter or eighth bar increments - with simple plus and minus buttons 4) The ability to number and play our saved favorites in a sequence. Then to bounce this sequence down to a merged segment. These changes would truly knock it out the park. **Developer response:** Hi there! I hope to give the app a 5 out of 5 when they add: 1) The ability to change the number of measures, and 2) The ability to modify the chords within the progression. Icing on the cake would be the ability to use folders in the saving directory, optimization for iPad resolution (including optional landscape mode), and the ability to queue multiple ideas in playback mode so that they play one after the other without having to press play at just the right time. Just configure it to the difficulty you need and let it generate melodies for dictation. Use the melody edit function to play and loop a bar. You check the sounds against the edit grid. Only thing I can think to improve is being able to change the order of the four note sequence windows.
