## What is FortBudget?

FortBudget is a private budget tracker built for people who want complete control over their financial data.

No bank links. No sign-up. No tracking.

FortBudget never connects to a bank. Add transactions manually or import a compatible CSV, so you stay in control of every record. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

Zero-Based Monthly Budgets
Give every dollar a job. Assign your income to categories at the start of each month and track spending against each envelope until every dollar is allocated. No credit available — if it's not assigned, it's unspent.

CSV Import & Export
Move your data freely. Import supported UTF-8 CSV transaction history exported from a bank or spreadsheet. Export your transaction ledger as CSV — no lock-in, no strings.

Encrypted Local Backups
FortBudget exports passphrase-protected .fortbudgetbackup files encrypted with SQLCipher. You choose where to save or share each backup, and the passphrase cannot be recovered by FortBudget.
