I have been unable to load certain pages of the UI in my Fortigate via Safari on Mac or iOS for ages. This is a huge problem for someone like me that prefers to utilize my iPad Pro on the go since all iOS web browsers funnel through WebKit. At least on my Mac I can use FireFox. I currently have no way of managing many aspects of my gate via iPad using the UI. Having a functioning FortiExplorer app would be a happy compromise, but it is also constantly throwing super helpful “something went wrong” errors. Very frustrating on multiple levels. ### 2/5 — Fortinet should be ashamed *2023-12-04* The app used to work just fine. Now, I cannot make changes due to the header buttons glitching, which prevents saving the changes. Hope it gets fixed. ### 3/5 — Problem open fortigate version 7.0 *2021-04-04* This version of the app fortiexplorer don’t open fortigate running version 7.0 Help me appear this message “Failed to load data” Thank ### 1/5 — Junk app *2021-03-11, version 3.4.0* A garbage does not work, I would like the to bring back the old version that was used in windows and mac os much better that this garbage that does not work. ### 2/5 — A marginal tool *2021-03-06* Repeated USB errors and disconnects, including whenever I change focus to another app. That is not security, it is pure productivity loss. For some reason was unable to change my password using this app—my long, complex password resulted in lost connections each time. It would however work if I typed “password” [yup]. I eventually got the password changed using SSH. I was able to do basic configuration of the device, but I’m still trying to puzzle out the licensing which apparently prevents me from doing anything with the device and less I pay additional fees. But that is not the fault of this app. ### 1/5 — Cannot upgrade firmware *2021-03-01* Subscribed to the Pro version of this app mainly to upgrade firmware on a device from 6.4.2 to 6.4.5. I receive an error of “invalid Json format”. No logs or troubleshooting tools available. Pretty useless. ### 2/5 — Hopes high, but were dashed quickly *2021-01-19* Well this was an exercise of futility. Can login to our firewalls but can’t do anything with any Zones other than look at the icons. Every time I try to view an actual zone member details I get “failed to load data.” It does allow basic views to see if things are up or not and a simple routing monitor. But if it can’t do 1/2 the stuff needed for the config, what’s really the point? ### 1/5 — Glorified dashboard. *2020-11-05* I can configure system level stuff and VLANS but how often do you really do that? When I need to port level configuration in this app. Right now it’s a glorified dashboard. So useful after spender tens of thousands of doallars on their equipment. ### 1/5 — New version won’t even launch any more *2020-09-26, version 3.1.0* Completely unusable now. ### 1/5 — Very feature starved *2020-09-12* Many view features are not available (1) DHCP monitor shows IP addresses and not the saved name/addresses.. so cannot even know what devices went down.... (2) same thing in most of the other places..like Fortiview-> sources, Device inventory etc There is no way showing up addresses only is useful (3) under monitoring only 5 are available "Web filter monitor", "Appl firewall", etc are non existent.. feature starved at its best! (4) web filter overrides --- unavailable (5) no sorting or filtering available in most screens.. Or send us a direct email to fortiexplorerios@fortinet.com ### 1/5 — Wasted Money *2020-01-18, version 2.4.1* Purchased Pro version because I thought we could manage more than one Fortigate at a time. However, now after purchasing it, it no longer allows us to enable management on any of our Fortigates, it only says “please enable management feature” and does not allow us to input username and password to enable this management. I love being able to quickly review configs and stats. Some of these other reviewers make me lol… ### 5/5 — Nicely designed app. Free version lets you manage FortiGate *2021-11-03, version 3.7.1* Nicely designed app! Among its other features is that the free version lets you manage many of a FortiGate configurable options remotely when the FortiGate is connected to the free version of FortiGate Cloud. Providing push notifications via this app is great. The UI does an impressive job of making these configurable options easy to use and find on the small screen of a phone, and even on a small phone like my iPhone 8. (tap the icon with 3 horizontal bars in the upper left corner to expand the menu of the FortiGate’s options like you would when logged in directly to a FortiGate on your LAN… it can be easy to overlook its presence once in a while when I’m focusing on the App’s overall navigation icons at the bottom of the screen) Had trouble with an update recently that made the app crash but The developers got right back to me and following their advice to simply uninstall and reinstall the app was all that was needed. Keep up the good work! ### 4/5 — Solid and improving, but feels neglected of late. *2019-09-22, version 2.2.1* With the release of FortiOS 6.2.1 I had hoped to see SDWAN, VLAN Suppport, link aggregation for platforms that now have that ability (60E for example), and an easy way to perform packet captures, WAN Speedtests and identify which policies (particularly the implicit deny all) that may be affecting traffic (especially for new installs). Overall, Fortinet seems to be ahead of the pack in terms of native apps for iOS and I am intrigued to see what the tvOS app is all about (noticed it’s supported just a moment ago). That said, more frequent updates to keep the app in lockstep with the UI and remote terminal capability would be great. And while this is not related to the app per se, it appears the APJ region, specifically A/NZ has all but been forgotten. There are no FortiCloud, FortiDNS or any cloud-based services that are hosted in A/NZ. FortitGuard DNS is a great example of a North American vendor being self centred and forgetting that the Southern Hemisphere exists. Latency to all DNS services exceeds 200ms, a totally unacceptable response time for one of many core features that would benefit from advertised Anycast addresses and CDNs local to the market Fortinet is officially active in. I actively tell customers to avoid those features until Fortinet shows commitment to have local presence, until then, I suspect customers will turn to other solutions rather than pay for a product that is a jack of a all trades and a master of none. ### 4/5 — VDOM support required *2018-09-21, version 1.5.1* Can we get VDOM support please, would make the app pretty much complete ### 3/5 — Update: app is buggy and 50% functional Nicely designed app. Free version lets you manage *2023-06-17, version 3.7.1* Update June 2023: app is buggy and 50% functional Many features simply do not work. For example, a large number of the FortiView categories such as WiFi clients, Web Sites, and so on. A lot of the categories that do work often don’t display the date of the first time and you have to refresh it to get it to display anything. Also, this app only shows 1 hour of FortiView data. That’s ridiculous. I would say that this app is useful in a number of ways, but is only 50% functional and/or 50% completed, and of the features that do work, those sometimes have less than desirable functionality. I would really like to see the app become fully developed. For all the money that I am spending on FortNet products, it is incomprehensible how FortiNet would have such an incomplete and buggy product. ———- original review: Nicely designed app!
