It is reassuring to see that everything is ok at home when we are away. Every once in a while a camera will go down for no know reason. Not sure if it is a software problem with my computer or not. Now it cannot connect to some of my older Foscam cameras. No explanation. They just dropped suppprt. UPDATE. Raising review to 4 stars. After an update my cameras didn’t work. I deleted the app and reinstalled the cameras. They all work again. So it is still the best app for Foscam cameras. Just annoyed that I had to redo everything. ### 4/5 — Great app with one shortfall *2019-12-28, version 1.6.23* Super user-friendly app that detects my old Foscam cameras immediately. Much better app than even what the manufacturer offers. When the app developer adds a button to turn on the infrared feature of these cameras, I’ll change my rating to five stars. ### 3/5 — Lingering Issues Take Forever to Fix *2019-10-23, version 1.6.22* Works reasonably well with newer Foscams like the R1, but limited support for very common but older ones like the FI8921. Example: current version still doesn’t allow user to turn off the IR option for cameras placed near windows, even though OWLR claimed they were were working on it—back in 2016. The crummy old Foscam app could do this easily...why not OWLR? ### 3/5 — Problems adding camera back on app in iPad *2019-04-09, version 1.6.16* I am very frustrated with app on my iPad. First I did change internet providers but I have that all resolved now. I made the edits on my iphone and iPad and got the app to wk, “ip changes” however I was trying to see why I never have been able to control the camera via an app and decided to delete the camera on iPad and add back. Now the app will not recognize my admin login and password. I know it is correct and works on PC and my iPhone app still works however I did not try to delete camera there and add again. I have tried deleting app and re installing, clearing browser history and nothing works. The camera also works on the old Foscam app on iPad. We can understand how frustrating this could be - would you mind sending us an In-App Feedback (Envelop Sign on the About Page) so that we can examine the situation better and help you solve the problem. ### 3/5 — Good alternative to native Foscam app *2018-11-25, version 1.6.12* This would be higher, but I recently updated (I was a couple of versions back) and now I have ads in between my cameras, which is really annoying if you are wanting to take a quick peak at what is going on. On the older version there were no ads for promos and what not separating my camera views. I am pretty disappointed with this as you have to click the add to remove it from the view. **Developer response:** Thank you very much for the feedback. It’s much more reliable and nicer to work with than the Foscam app. I especially appreciate the ability to have both LAN and WAN settings for a single camera. The only downside is the app does not support communication over SSL but with good password etiquette this isn’t too big a deal, at least not for my personal use. Overall a very nice app! ### 3/5 — Connecting to camera is hit/miss *2018-10-30, version 1.6.10* We have 2 cameras installed. Connecting to them is hit or miss, mostly miss. Activity Spinner runs for a minute before timing out with a “cannot connect” message while trying to load snapshots. If I then switch to Foscam’s app on my phone, it connects immediately so I know the camera’s network connection is working. I could be 15 miles away and still keep an eye on my dog. You guys are very helpful and professional in the service you provide. The only problem I’m having to reset the cameras wireless is that since I changed from Optimum to Fios is that I can only set one camera and I’m having trouble with the other two. I also notice that I can’t pick up the signal outside of the apartment. I will keep trying but otherwise you guys are great and helpful. Thanks! It's just a night and day difference- so much better. It's much easier to setup, much more intuitive to use, much more reliable...you name it, it's better. ### 5/5 — Great app *2018-09-16, version 1.6.6* I have 6 foscam cameras divided in two houses. This has been the only app so far that can handle all 6 without problems. Beware of the password setup for each camera if you use one, you have to tap the home screen to add it. I gave it Three Stars because we have not been able to get it to function when were not at home... no view while away. Which I never could use it without wires it has to be connected to the wifi router via a cable and it works halfass it losses connection when I’m not at home so I can’t see what’s happening in my home when I’m not there! And a friend of mine has one alike and it does the same exact thing! Just bad experience with this products AVOID THIS BRAND! ### 1/5 — Worked great for years but now useless *2022-02-10, version 1.6.25* This app and the infrastructure behind worked great for years with very good support. Then, recently, something changed on their side and it is now a useless app, nothing really works. And do not count on getting any support any more. You will get the standard email saying they are sorry and to contact them but they never ever answer. I ultimately canceled my subscription and deleted the app. ### 1/5 — Great free app now forces GPS requirement *2020-05-22, version 1.6.23* I appreciated this free app for years. A quick way to view my aging Foscam cameras without cloud requirements. The latest update requires you to allow GPS location access to open. Why? Who knows. They have your IP addresses already. They have a lengthy explanation about how awesome it is for you to regularly and unnecessarily provide them with a GPS coordinate every time you open the app. But this is gaslighting silliness. Looks like I’ll retire the old Foscam cameras or find a new app. ### 1/5 — Does not respect privacy *2019-10-06, version 1.6.22* This app now blocks me from using it at all if I do not set the location services to allow access while using the app. If I select anything else for this setting, an uncloseable modal is shown in the app linking me back to the settings page. This is really slimy practice, and probably violates apple’s user privacy TOS. I use a vpn to connect to my home cameras, so the app never has a reason to know my current location. Please correct this issue ASAP. ### 1/5 — Terrible camera terrible app—all around terrible *2019-01-24, version 1.6.14* I don’t understand why 7 out of 10 times when I try to run the app, the camera fails to load. I’m constantly re-adding the camera. Once it does connect it takes FOREVER to set up a connection to the feed—wasting my time and making me anxious about needing to monitor my kids in their bedroom while I’m downstairs. So incredibly frustrating to no end. I’m chucking this camera and deleting this app and never recommending this to any of my friends. ### 1/5 — You have to pay a subscription fee for alerts *2018-12-14, version 1.6.14* I have a Foscam R2 camera. All the other apps work just fine for video and panning. I have all my cameras set up with motion detector and to send me email with snap shots when they detect motion. The bothersome thing about the newer R2 series is that their motion detector works differently and the remote apps will not turn it on and off which is irritating if you have noisy motion and just need to turn it off momentarily. I got this app because it said it supports the R2 camera and it does connect but then when I went to see if I could enable and disable motion detect I found out they don’t allow you to connect to that feature in the camera without you paying a subscription fee And I still don’t know if it will actually work on the R2 camera... **Developer response:** Thank you UC IT Guy for the feedback. But the little thing of motion detection (paid subscription) needs a deer hunter and a microscope. In a nutshell it doesn’t work. You’d think 3 months would be sufficient for all the time off you took. And you can’t figure out how to add more than one camera to the subscription? June is upon us and I’m not sure what big advances you were planning for the year (your words) but the final result thus far is, to use your own words : ZERP! Boink BINK! ### 1/5 — Subscription broke *2017-12-27, version 1.5.5* Had been working great until I got a new phone. Restoring subscriptions does not work and I can no longer manage any of my motion notifications. My phone tells me I already have a subscription and the app says I need one followed by an error. I now get spammed with emails from the living room because I had notifications turned on at the time that it broke. Can’t turn them off. Instead I have to report the emails as spam and find a new app. Bummer because it worked great until then. ### 1/5 — Owler app is garbage after last update *2017-11-12, version 1.5.3* Garbage. It worked with all my Foscam cameras 3 updates ago. With each update fewer and fewer cameras worked. With the last update only 1 camera can be viewed now. My guess is that with the next update none of the cameras will be able to be viewed on this app. Time to look for a new ip camera app. Sad, this app got good reviews and seemed to work fine for a while but with each update it got worse instead of better. Too bad. ### 2/5 — Cannot move camera after update *2018-12-21, version 1.6.14* I have two children in the same room. I regularly, throughout one day/evening rotate the camera to monitor both kids. After last update I no longer have the ability to turn the camera using the app. Please fix the problem. I became dependent on the freedom and flexibility to tilt and rotate the camera. I tried the suggested Foscam app but it was a no go, way to complicated. I tried this app and it was up and running within 5 minutes or so. So it's getting 5 stars from this user.. ### 5/5 — Excellent App, Outstanding Customer Service. *2020-07-09, version 1.6.23* I have been using the Owler app with three Foscam Cameras for about a year, with great success. Owler takes care of all the complicated settings, port forwarding and Streaming connection in seconds. When my "sometimes quirky" Cams get confused or stop working correctly, their App makes it a snap to delete, find and re-install my Cams instantly. Last week i introduced another Cam which would not Stream remotely to my iPhone. I contacted them through their App (Nice feature!) and in two days, Khurram from their Support Team sent me a personal e-mail with a solution! That's what i call Excellent Customer Service. I control 7 Foscam cameras and this app works perfectly. I read the the non 5 star reviews and almost all are from people who are either really dim or are lying. I’ve had an in-home daycare business for 25 years and rely on my Foscam camera’s daily. I have four of them set up throughout the house (Front door, Playroom, Crib room, and Cot room). When I purchased them years ago, the Foscam app that allowed me to view them were very difficult to set up. You could only view one camera at a time and it was frustrating. They later came out with a new app that allowed all camera viewing screen or individual and the set up wasn’t as difficult. Copying the camera’s to another device was a nice feature not having to do the start up process all over again for a different device and not too hard to do. I’ve used that one for a few years now. I just updated my device to a new one and noticed I couldn’t use the Foscam app to view my camera’s. Confused, I went and looked for an updated app and found this one. Wow! Set up on 3 different devices INCLUDING external viewing of my 4 camera’s was a BREEZE! The app quickly found all four camera’s, put in my Foscam user name and password and that’s it! I can view all camera’s at one time, individually, set it up for motion detection, full screen option and more! Thanks so much for such a wonderful app, free I might mention too! A suggestion I would like to see implemented is to have landscape preview in addition to portrait. What more can you ask for. I’ve been using OWLR since they first introduced it and I am always surprised at how well it works. I’ve tried all those other apps, and all I can say (if you’re reading this) is - Why bother? And like I say in the title, I wonder why it’s free.
