## What is Foster Kitten?

Foster Kitten helps caregivers track kitten health, make more informed care decisions, and communicate more effectively with veterinarians during the first 12 weeks of life, when kittens are at their most fragile.
Tracking
Log daily weights, feedings, symptoms, mediations, photos, and clinical notes with fast, intuitive data entry. When your hands are full, use hands-free voice logging to record weights, feedings, and stool observations. Snap a photo of your kitten's stool for an instant assessment powered by KittenAI, or log manually. Foster Kitten helps you monitor key indicators, including growth, stool quality, and upper respiratory symptoms, so changes don't go unnoticed.
Track socialization as a daily practice across handling, sounds, surfaces, and social experiences. The checklist guides you through what's left to observe each day and preserves your work as you go. Browse a library of care resources and age-appropriate development guides.

By applying veterinary research and established care standards to your data, Foster Kitten highlights when growth and health are on track, and when something may warrant a vet conversation.

Designed for Foster Care

Whether you're caring for your first bottle baby or managing a full litter, Foster Kitten is built for real foster workflows. Track mother cats alongside their litters with queen care tools for nursing, mammary health, and reproductive milestones.

Record the shelter-assigned Animal ID and source organization for each kitten, for unambiguous communication with the rescue. Records stay clear and easy to share, from intake to adoption, supporting collaboration with shelters, rescues, and veterinary teams. With Baby Book, document developmental milestones to create a keepsake that travels with your kitten to their forever home.

### 5/5 — Hidden Gem

*2026-08-31*

I recently fostered some bottle babies and figured I’d see what apps were out there for tracking their weight and maybe feeding amount, if I got lucky. This app seems to have it all. The free version is also fantastic and the paid versions seem like they are reasonably priced. I appreciate the effort and attention to detail that was put into this app.

### 5/5 — Thank you!

*2026-07-04*

This is my first time fostering and first time “having” a cat. This app has been such a huge help as I navigate their growth, track their feedings, and battle sleep deprivation as I try to help these four little newborns thrive. Thank you so much!!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your kind words. I’m grateful for the opportunity to support foster caregivers, and it’s wonderful to hear that Foster Kitten has been helpful during your very first foster journey!
One of my big goals is to support new fosters and grow the number of people ready to open their homes to kittens in need. At the 2026 National Kitten Coalition Conference, Grace Clinton said of fosters, “You have just as much life-saving power as us.” Every act of foster care means healthier kittens and a better world.

The foster community has been incredibly generous as I’ve worked through the wrinkles and continued improving the app. Please reach out if you encounter a glitch or see an opportunity to make something better. I read every message, and Foster Kitten continues to evolve as my knowledge of our community deepens.

Four little ones is a lot! I’m glad they have you.

### 5/5 — My favorite app!

*2026-02-05*

I accidentally found this app searching for a way to organize my kitten foster data…and boy did this deliver!! It is EASY to use, super intuitive, easy to customize for your shelters needs, simple to understand, has great tutorials with video examples. I LOVE having one app to track my current foster kittens and also review my past litters when needed. It’s also a dream to export some of the data and send in to the foster coordinators at the shelter I volunteer for. I also have had wonderful interaction with the app’s creator…so smart and always appreciative of feedback to help improve his awesome program. I am recommending to all fosters I meet!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your practice of care. It is wonderful to hear that Foster Kitten is helpful. Fosters deserve great tools. I love that the export kitten data feature helps you share health metrics with your care team. I appreciate your guidance and insight. You were among fosters instrumental in the design of the Queen Care feature.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.3.0 — 2026-09-09

WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 3.3.0

Voice logging is now easier to find and available by default. Tap the microphone on the Logs action bar to enter weight, feeding, and stool information by voice. Prefer not to use voice logging? You can turn it off anytime in Account Settings under User Preferences.

Entering feeding information by hand is now faster and clearer. Weight and feeding entries use an improved number pad, feeding forms are easier to see while you enter information, and numeric fields are easier to navigate and dismiss.

Library Resources are better organized. Guides are now grouped by what they are — Diagnoses, Signs & Symptoms, Everyday Care, and Development — as well as by topic. All twelve week-by-week kitten development guides are now easy to find in the Library.

Weight & Growth Monitoring has been completely rewritten, with clearer guidance on what to weigh and when, what weight changes mean at different ages, and when a change may warrant a conversation with your veterinary team. Veterinary guidance is also presented more consistently throughout the Library.

Feeding assessments are more transparent and more reliable. Foster Kitten now bases feeding assessments on a weight you actually measured rather than estimating weight from age. If there is no recent weight, the app will ask you to enter one. Feeding assessments now also show the findings, the numbers behind them, recommendations, and related learning resources.

A few smaller improvements make Foster Kitten easier to use:
• Longer kitten names now display correctly in the patient selector on smaller phones.
• The navigation menu is organized around your patients, Library Resources, and your account.
• Contact Us automatically includes your Foster Kitten version and device information, helping us answer support questions more quickly.

Foster Kitten reflects what your records show and helps you recognize when it may be time for a conversation with your veterinarian. It does not diagnose or replace veterinary care.

Thank you for your practice of care.

### 3.2.0 — 2026-09-02

WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 3.2.0

Grouping kittens by litter during intake is now simpler and more intuitive. You can also give each litter a custom name—such as Greek Gods or Porch Kittens—and that name will appear throughout the app.

As before, you can compare weight trends among littermates and generate litter reports, helping you understand each kitten’s data in the context of the litter.

Foster Kitten reflects what your records show and helps you recognize when it may be time for a conversation with your veterinarian. It does not diagnose or replace veterinary care.

Thank you for your practice of care.

### 3.1.0 — 2026-08-13

WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 3.1.0

When a weight entry raises a concern, Foster Kitten now helps you prepare a note to share with your vet. Beneath the assessment is a concise summary of the important details: the two weights, the hours between them, the change, and what is expected at that age. Tap to copy it into a message or bring it with you to a conversation.

Most of this release focused on improving the reasoning behind these summaries: making assessments clearer, more consistent, and easier to discuss with your care team.

In the care guides, supplemental heat is now recommended until at least four to six weeks, with the nest temperature stepping down week by week.

As always, the app reflects what your records show and helps you know when it is time for a vet conversation. It does not diagnose or replace veterinary care.

Thank you for your practice of care.

### 3.0.0 — 2026-07-26

What’s New in Version 3.0.0
Audio Logging
Record weight, feeding, and stool entries by voice when your hands are full—because they usually are. Tap the mic and say, “Whiskers, weight 188 grams, entry complete.” The Basic Plan includes up to 4 audio entries per day; Pro includes up to 75.
Procedures
Schedule and record general procedures—including checkups, dental care, and surgeries—in addition to vaccinations and spay/neuter procedures.
Reminders
Set reminders for vaccinations, spay/neuter appointments, and general procedures.
Scheduled Appointments
View and manage every upcoming appointment from one dedicated screen.
Weight
Weight assessment now focuses on each kitten’s individual rate of gain. We’ve removed comparisons to age-based averages because healthy size and growth can vary widely among kittens of the same age.
Clinics and Shelters
Large rosters—even those containing hundreds of kittens—now load and filter quickly for shelters and clinics using Foster Kitten.
Performance
High-resolution medical photos are now processed in the background, keeping the app responsive while they save.
Foster Kitten helps you maintain organized records, view kitten data in the context of relevant care standards, visualize trends over time, and prepare for clearer, better-informed conversations with veterinarians.

### 2.9.0 — 2026-07-03

What's New in Version 2.9.0

Logging what you notice about a kitten is now simpler. Symptoms, URI signs, and emesis have come together into a single screen, organized by area of the body, so you can record everything you're seeing in one place instead of moving between tabs.

We've also refined the care behind weight and stool guidance.

Thank you for your practice of care.
