### 3/5 — Schade

*2026-07-27*

Antwort vom Support: keine.

So wird das nichts mit dem Abo.

### 4/5 — Refresh

*2026-07-20, version 0.10.68*

Whenever I want to see new pictures it doesn’t refresh, it’s really annoying please fix it if you can.

### 3/5 — Photo

*2026-07-04, version 0.10.65*

While it is better than Instagram by not showing ads or pushing things onto you. It sits with me wrong way how nudity is allowed. I checked the tag and some are not so much fine art. Their stance is female nudity is allowed but male isn’t. I would prefer Nudity not allowed but I guess it’s hard to find that standard

### 5/5 — Very good and constantly getting better

*2026-05-06, version 0.10.61*

A true photo-sharing app, with no algorithms or ads. Not a popularity contest, just pure photography sharing and consuming. I like the user interface. There’s active development and regular updates, getting better and better.

### 5/5 — iPad buggy love it on phone

*2026-05-04, version 0.10.61*

I keep coming back

### 5/5 — Don’t change.

*2026-05-02, version 0.10.61*

I love you guys are trying to do something different and go back to ‘the good old days’ of photo sharing, so yeah. Stick to it. Don’t become just another insta

### 5/5 — Great Start!

*2026-04-26, version 0.10.58*

A photo sharing platform through and through. Beautifully presented, multi-platform, no algorithm, just photographers sharing their work. Great work from such a small team behind this app, support where you can!

### 5/5 — Great for Photographers

*2026-04-22, version 0.10.55*

No ads. No DMs. No algorithm. No reels. No carousels. Just single photos by photographers. It’s such a great place to share photos and support other people’s work.

### 5/5 — Foto Inc Is Outstanding

*2026-04-20, version 0.10.55*

I’ve been using the Foto app for a bit now, and overall it’s been a really solid experience. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, which makes editing and organizing photos feel quick and effortless. I especially like how intuitive the tools are—you don’t have to be a pro to get great-looking results.

The editing features are strong without feeling overwhelming. There’s a good balance between simplicity and control, so you can make quick adjustments or spend more time fine-tuning details. Performance has also been smooth for me, with no major glitches or slowdowns.

There’s still a little room for improvement, like adding more advanced filters or customization options, but the app already does a great job for everyday use. Overall, it’s a reliable and enjoyable photo app that I’d definitely recommend

### 5/5 — Very pleasant user experience

*2026-04-13, version 0.10.55*

A photo-sharing app with a user interface that doesn’t cause psychic damage? Unexpected! Very pleasant to use, incredibly simple and photo-oriented. Not as popular as Flickr or whatever but it is not at all difficult to find high-quality work.

### 5/5 — No gimmicks

*2026-03-31, version 0.10.55*

Terrific platform for photography fans and photographers. Curated tags, so no weird cliques like on threads. Nobody can see your likes on photos so there is no posturing. No algos so nothing goes viral and your photos are seen by people who like your style. It takes a little while to get followers but your photos can be seen in the “everything” feed on the search page. One more bonus: follower counts are not shown so no competitiveness there either. And you can simply hide every photo tagged with the AI tag so you never have to see slop from people who are proud they made slop.

### 5/5 — Really nice.

*2026-03-27, version 0.10.55*

Really enjoying using this app, I look forward to what the developers have planned for the future. I’m unsure how big the community is at present but I hope this app succeeds .

### 4/5 — Sehr gelungen

*2026-03-26*

### 5/5 — A place for art

*2026-03-24, version 0.10.55*

This is currently the only platform that I can actually get behind. It’s not about popularity or attention, it’s about sharing your art. There is no need to compare and no algorithm that shoves unwanted suggested content in your face. I have greatly enjoyed it and I am looking forward to its future.

### 5/5 — Best photo app for photography!

*2026-03-24, version 0.10.55*

Love the feed, love, the look, love the mosaic, love the app, love the community!

### 5/5 — Photography app about the photos

*2026-03-24, version 0.10.55*

A photo-sharing app that goes back to basics. No algorithm, no visible counters for followers or likes, just photographers sharing their work at face value. Instantly became one of my favorite apps.

### 4/5 — Photography, nothing but photography

*2026-03-24*

If you are looking for a cool app to show your work, to see the images from photographers you like (and not from attention seekers promoted by a stupid algorythm)…your are in the right place

### 5/5 — Back to Art

*2026-03-24, version 0.10.55*

It’s refreshing to not be bombarded by ads, reels, etc. Just plain photography.

### 5/5 — Great platform for photographers, runs on macOS, too!

*2026-03-02, version 0.10.53*

I love Foto because it’s just a joy to use and it’s really a breath of fresh air. I’m a hobbyist and I don’t need Instagram’s noise any more and just focus on images, and explore, and learn. This mobile app is even runs on my desktop Macs, including posting from the Photos app. What’s not to like?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unable to Load… Months Later

*2025-10-05, version 0.10.29*

The app is still unstable months after my last attempt. My old device was an iPhone 14 with the latest iOS installed, and after an account was created, I was prompted to login. It crashed after that and the app refused to load any time afterward.

Flash forward to an entirely new device: iPhone 17. Let’s try it again: nope. Repeated crashes.

### 1/5 — Had promise

*2025-10-01, version 0.10.29*

Was genuinely a fantastic social media app for photography… until the subscriptions for portfolios were introduced. Price is far too high, even PHOTO-EDITING apps are cheaper per month.

### 1/5 — Missing Photos

*2025-09-22, version 0.10.27*

Today was the first in a while I logged in after getting my new iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apparently most of my photos were deleted? I only have one photo but I had at least a dozen or so.
The even weirder thing is if I click on old notifications, it takes me back to my old photos. So, why aren’t they showing up on my actual profile/post?

### 1/5 — Unrelenting stream of boring photos

*2025-06-22, version 0.9.30*

Exceptionally boring stream of uninspired, no talent photographs. So many people think they have talent, so few do.

### 1/5 — Early days but its not ready for the public

*2025-04-15, version 0.9.26*

The app has promise and is clean but the UI and UX needs a lot of work. The photo tagging is especially cumbersome and janky. A lot of basic features you’d expect from a photography centric app are missing which tells me this is not ready for a public release. I’d go as far to say it’s still in a very early beta stage. There is very little to no community within the app so it’s just a lot of photographers posting to their own portfolio which in the end will kill the app if there is no community functionality.

### 1/5 — Don’t like it

*2025-03-20, version 0.9.18*

I don’t like the unfiltered feed, no curation or algorithm. Find it very hard to find photographers to follows. So little interaction everywhere. Deleted it.

### 1/5 — Crashed

*2025-03-07, version 0.9.15*

Crashed on my first post. That speaks volumes!

### 1/5 — Can’t do anything - no verification email

*2025-02-23, version 0.9.12*

App will not send email verification link, so I can’t do anything. Email address is correct. Have tried multiple times (with hours in between) and even deleted my profile and started from scratch. Nothing.

Deleting and moving on.

### 2/5 — Verbesserungswürdig

*2026-03-16*

### 2/5 — Useful But Steep Learning Curve

*2026-01-10, version 0.10.44*

The founders of Foto made it explicit they are tackling Instagram’s dominance in the media landscape and rejecting algorithms

Their remedy is keeping the UI sober yet visually refined, the notifications intentional and non intrusive and prioritizing human interaction over numbers and leaderboards with the removal of likes and follower counts when browsing other users’ profiles

Unsure the average person or the casual mobile photographer will grasp the intention behind the design right away and will likely discourage them because of the lack of an obvious feedback and discovery mechanism that shows “you are being noticed by others” an area where Tumblr & Tiktok are masters of

Is Foto a digital portfolio platform, a social network, a discovery feed, or a curated blog?

Hard to say… but its biggest adoption hurdle might be that it appeals to a crowd of users who lament a bygone era of the internet surfing, a relatively older demographic that is likely between 30-45 years of age

Kids shape culture, adults are mere bystanders of culture, time will tell if Foto will do more of the former than the latter

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best App Ever

*2026-08-18, version 0.10.71*

It’s simple, elegant, and effective. It is also fostering an amazing community of photographers of all types and a source of inspiration. I’m more than happy to pay a subscription because it really deserves it.

### 5/5 — Brilliant and much needed

*2026-08-17, version 0.10.71*

I’m delighted with Foto and what the team is doing. Having a photo based app without video and all the social nonsense is just what we needed, and judging by other members usage and positivity, I think my views are common on the platform. Now they have done something marvellous and much desired in making an excellent desktop version which has been cleverly and well executed. You now have an option to create online portfolios, negating the need for a web portfolio, or even a website, and to me the design and layout are spot on. So is the pricing! The yearly cost for their upgrades are very very reasonable IMO. Bravo Foto team. They also communicate extremely well, their ideas are fresh and very well executed, and they listen to their members and fix issues rapidly. In the oversaturated photography space this is a refreshing experience and much needed. I really hope that more artists and serious image creators learn about this platform and start using it. It’s like a hybrid of a simple social network without all the nonsense combined with a portfolio app, and one that I would not hesitate to show serious work on. The members show very varied work and standards are high and passion shows. I will be upgrading soon so I have a portfolio I can show easily without the nonsense we find on Instagram et al. Congratulations to the Foto team. Keep it going, it’s gonna be a great success story I believe. I’m in now way connected to the company, this is a genuine review.

### 5/5 — Love how this is app is developing. So much better than the alternative!

*2026-08-16, version 0.10.71*

10/10.

### 5/5 — New Photo Sharing App worth the Hype

*2026-08-14, version 0.10.71*

I’ve been using the Foto App since the beginning and it’s excellent. Out of the all the new photo sharing / instagram alternative apps, Foto is the best. It’s worth the hype.

### 5/5 — I love it!

*2026-07-21, version 0.10.68*

I’ve only been using Foto for a few days but I love it.
It’s a platform for sharing photos and viewing other peoples without all the bells and whistles of other apps.
It feels like a pre Facebook/meta instagram (when instagram was actually good) and that is a good thing
I don’t need a pro account because the free option is great but I’m going to subscribe to pro to support the app.
If the devs read this, please don’t change. You’ve got this spot on

### 5/5 — Génial

*2026-07-06*

Excellente alternative à Instagram dédié spécifiquement pour la photo et excellente philosophie.

### 5/5 — Analog Forever!

*2026-07-06, version 0.10.65*

It’s a great platform for building and sharing your analog photography portfolio. Not crazy about the strictly chronological timeline, but it’s great for organizing my images in a way that can be shared with intentionality.

### 5/5 — The best by far for photography

*2026-06-12, version 0.10.62*

If you enjoy photography, both taking and viewing, this a great app.
I came to this App after the slide into oblivion of other supposed photography platforms.
Photographs remain as good as you upload; no hideous compression or algorithms to ruin your work and there is no restriction on dimensions and ratios, unlike some others.
The preset tags with a limit of 3 per image keep things nice a clear and are a great deterrent for the social media wh*res out there.
The ethics of the company are excellent - I was spammed by someone asking for my WhatsApp number, and when it was reported I received an email back saying they did not like that sort of thing and the spammers comments were deleted and account was closed. Good stuff.

### 5/5 — 0.10.62 BUG

*2026-06-02, version 0.10.62*

New update release won't download. Deleted app and tried to reinstall, now I can't download the app.

### 5/5 — Loving the app

*2026-05-20, version 0.10.61*

Finally a decent photography app. And thanks a lot for an iPad version! Good luck!
