### 3/5 — Optisch attraktiv umgesetzt ...

*2026-07-30, version 1.6.2*

Ohne optische Hervorhebung, also etwas unübersichtlich.

Schade!

### 3/5 — Good game but there are bugs

*2024-04-10, version 1.6.2*

Particularly in situations where the human and a computer player have competing claims for a tile or for Mahjong. Computer always wins the dispute, regardless of position on the board or power of the claim. I’ve also seen a case in which the game failed to recognize a Mahjong.

### 3/5 — Not as good as the PC version

*2022-10-25, version 1.6.2*

I’ve always loved the Four Winds Mah Jong - it taught me how to play the game. Whilst this is a reasonable basic version, it has none of the many configurations available on the PC version so I can’t play my favourite American Modern game. I hope that it is amended with future updates.

My main issue is that it prevents me from discarding some tiles when I’m trying to be strategic which is immensely frustrating.

### 3/5 — Un algorithme décourageant

*2018-09-10, version 1.6.2*

Appli et plateau agréables, mais un algorithme prédictif et évolutif qui ne laisse (presque) rien au hasard et qui « casse » un joueur qui cherche à réaliser des mahjong en 1 couleur et honneurs.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2018-09-04, version 1.6.2*

I have been playing the free version for quite a while and thought I would invest in the paid version to be able to alter settings etc. very disappointed. You can't even change opponents names. I would like to see more changes, such as ability to turn off chows and a more accurate scoring system. Landscape orientation would be good too. Since there hasn't been an update in quite some time I'm not holding my breath. I should have just stuck with the free version.

### 2/5 — Scoring

*2016-01-21, version 1.6.2*

The scoring makes no sense and there is no way to look at why a player got the score they did.

### 4/5 — Great Mahjong app

*2015-10-17, version 1.6.2*

I love this app. It is a really great translation of the mahjong game to the iPad. Nice clean and intuitive interface. The instruction manual is really useful.

I would like a couple of improvements:
- more special hands, or the ability to define a special hand,
- the option to break down the scoring of a hand (possibly before moving to the next hand),
- landscape mode.

Notwithstanding these items, the game is great.

Thanks

### 4/5 — Not the best MJ app available

*2014-10-25, version 1.6.1*

Not the best MJ app as it has a few flaws.

1) players pick up a discarded tile as chow then discard the same tile or the other end of the run, which doesn't make sense at all.

Some complains about this program are senseless, for example:

A) you can not chow if the last discarded tile was not from the player to your left. That's the rule of the game that I know ever since I started playing this game .

B) it is very easy to discard any tile, all you have to do is drag that tile to the center of the board and make sure that there is a replica of the image next to the last discarded tile.

### 4/5 — Great app but scoring is random

*2014-02-16, version 1.6.1*

I love to play this app. It is the closest to the version we play in Hong Kong. But the scoring is just crazy! I win 2 games and get about 300 points. Then loose a game and have 2600 pointed deducted! Please fix the scoring.

### 1/5 — App not working right!?!

*2014-01-03, version 1.6.1*

Have been stuck since starting this, instructions don't help, can't discard, can't progress, lost purchase price? Have played American version for many years and am Frustrated in K C

### 3/5 — Cannot call a chow

*2013-12-01, version 1.6.1*

Unless it is your turn, the game will not let you call a chow...otherwise fun game. Please fix the game so we can make our own calls.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No support. Game blowing away

*2026-08-27, version 1.6.2*

I purchased the game because a family member has been playing for years and loves it. Her version was free. Mine was not. It continues to blow away at the end of a round and does not save the data or continue the game. I have a newer iPad than my family member, so that may be the issue. However, I have received no response from support. If the company is no longer in existence, where did my $3.99 go?

### 1/5 — Don't be duped

*2016-06-24, version 1.6.2*

Not real mah Jong.

### 1/5 — Frustrating!!!

*2016-05-07, version 1.6.2*

Will not let me discard tiles without providing an explanation. No tech support or help feature.

### 1/5 — Rediculous

*2015-02-26, version 1.6.2*

No info on how to play this game. It's NOTHING like national rules. A big waste of money!

### 1/5 — Trouble discarding

*2014-08-10, version 1.6.1*

Wish I had read the other reviews. Seems like we are all saying the same thing. Can't discard tiles I want. Restarted whole game twice because of that. Please fix this. I'm new to the game and wanted to use this to practice. Disappointed.

### 1/5 — Not real mahjong- buggy

*2014-08-05, version 1.6.1*

I bought this app to practice my game. This is not realistic, has many bugs. I assumed since it cost so much it would be a good practice tool. Never assume. I would like to know how to request my money back.

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2014-07-10, version 1.6.1*

App will not let you make legal moves. Don't buy this if you want to play a good game!

### 1/5 — Definitely NOT worth the $$$

*2014-04-28, version 1.6.1*

I'm from HK and the scoring makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! Pointless!

### 1/5 — Mahjong player27

*2014-04-01, version 1.6.1*

I am frustrated that I cannot discard any tile! The game does not let me discard. I understand the play of the game, but I cannot play because I cannot discard! I would rather have my money back!

### 1/5 — Impossible

*2014-02-28, version 1.6.1*

Would enjoy playing Mah Jong but this app will not let you show your pung or chow on the board. Impossible to discard after many tries. This app will only let let you discard the tile they choose. A better experience would let the user discard the tile they choose.

Not fun like this. Can I get my money returned?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2017-08-08, version 1.6.2*

Really do like this game. Could do with better selection of special hands and most definitely no chows option. That would make this more entertaining. Notwithstanding though great graphics, no nonsense game. Hats off to developers. A multiplayer option would be good, would love to play this with daughter when on long trips away!!!

### 5/5 — Very good.

*2017-03-14, version 1.6.2*

This is a very good representation of the real game of mahjong, as opposed to the many 'pairing' games that seem to exist.
It does the scoring for you, thus removing one of the off putting aspects for people unfamiliar with the game but doesn't help much in explaining how or why the score is arrived at.
The graphics are fine for iPad but the Mac version makes me squint.

### 5/5 — Best I have found

*2016-05-12, version 1.6.2*

Best real mahjong game I have played. I recommend.

### 5/5 — Great Chinese rule version!

*2015-07-26, version 1.6.2*

Finally real Chinese mahjong! NOT the silly matching game or the retirement home American version.

### 5/5 — Great time

*2015-05-15, version 1.6.2*

For someone who doesn't want to play the American matching mahjong this is great!

Just wish you could mahjong with "silent" hands, mainly with kong (4 of a kind) I had that and the system would not give the option to announce Mahjong.

Minor issues but still very fun

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2015-01-02, version 1.6.2*

What a fantastic game!!! Nothing to dislike, great graphics, brilliant way to spend a bit of down time, fun and very enjoyable. If you like Mahjong, get it and have some fun.

### 5/5 — Very nicely done!

*2014-08-12, version 1.6.1*

Immensely enjoy this. Works and plays wonderfully. Some suggestions for future versions:
- tutorial
- ability to see how the score was arrived at
- ability to turn off automatic showing that you can use a discarded tile. You would have to interrupt yourself.

Love the game. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2014-03-02, version 1.6.1*

Have had a set of tiles for years and never really got to grips with the game. This app is easy to understand and you get in the game straight away. Cannot put it down.

### 5/5 — Just what I wanted!

*2013-12-04, version 1.6.1*

Just got my head around my set of mahjong and wanted to practise - other apps seem to be just 'pairs'- this is like the game I have struggled to suss- this is an easy way of developing my play!

### 5/5 — Four Winds

*2013-03-28, version 1.4.1*

Great game, used to play the board game, but this game actually shows how some of the intricacies work extremely well. The automatic scoring works if you care to check it, but it saves lots of effort to just accept it.
