### 3/5 — Needs updating

*2024-09-13*

I have a paid subscription to this app and I enjoy using it - it’s fun to play along with some well known songs and receive a score at the end. However, no new songs have been added in the last few months and a few of the chord lessons are marked PRIVATE VIDEO and cannot be accessed. The app could do with an update to keep users interested.

### 3/5 — Good app

*2024-06-09*

I like the app. I have been using it for several years. However it has not been updated since I got it. The song of the week has been the same one since I got it. I have requested songs like it asks you to do and haven’t heard anything back from them. I don’t think any new songs have been added since I’ve been using it. Also some of the chord learning videos don’t work. Good app but needs to be updated.

### 4/5 — Feed back

*2023-03-18*

Really good but could do with the time signature as its hard to work it out some times

### 3/5 — Love playing along

*2021-08-21, version 3.3.6*

Wish the starting countdown was consistent. Most songs start with no opportunity to get ready so you miss the first few beats.

### 4/5 — Handy and Helpful

*2021-05-30, version 3.3.6*

Very convenient, user friendly, and easy to use.

### 4/5 — Great but does not show picking backing sounds awful

*2021-04-30*

Great app, easy to follow many songs taught me to play.
Does not show picking like on Justin’s app.
Also accompaniment backing sound awful Piano it tinny and poor
But overall good app would recommend

### 4/5 — Love the app but would like some new songs.

*2020-11-25*

I had thought there would be new songs added regularly but I haven’t seen any since I joined. Other than that I love the format and it makes playing very easy. It’s a great app just love to see new stuff.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2020-08-02*

Prefect Absolutely love this app. It is perfect for even the most novice of players (like me) and comes with a HUGE range of songs to play along to.

### 4/5 — Great way to learn guitar

*2020-06-15, version 3.3.6*

Update: app goes into “updating songs“ mode multiple times per day. Usually in the middle of a song. Often it takes 3-5 minutes. Is really irritating. Getting the strong sense app is doing much more than “updating songs”. App only allows you to create 1 playlist. Rearranging songs in that 1 playlist is a haste the larger it gets.

App is good for a true beginner but you’ll want to migrate to other apps that offer more flexibility and options soon.

I love this app. There isn’t a better way to learn. I’ve been using if for about a month but it recently started acting buggy. Seems to hiccup a bit ( not when I’m receiving email or text). Also, stats for number of songs played doesn’t count properly. Closing and opening program doesn’t ‘reset’ it and only sometimes does turning the iPad off/on work. Lastly, noticed that the score for some songs show a chord that isn’t even in the song and docks you 200 points for not playing it. Please fix the bugs - then it is a 5 star app.

### 5/5 — Learn to play

*2020-06-15, version 3.3.6*

This is the best app ever I have learned happy birthday and I’m playing it to my mom this app is so cool definitely recommend I learned happy birthday in like 4days so happy😆😁😄😃😀wow so great

### 4/5 — Fantastic learning tool

*2020-06-04, version 3.3.6*

I’m about 5 weeks into learning guitar - someone taught me several chords but I needed more structured lessons. This app has be very helpful to learn how to play songs. There is a weird glitch that happens frequently for me where I can practice one song just fine but if I go to another song, the app will open the song, give the countdown to play, but there is no sound and the song doesn’t progress. Overall the app is still good, and I would give 5 stars if that one blip were fixed!

### 4/5 — Last Update Leaves me Hanging

*2020-05-29, version 3.3.6*

Used this app every Day until latest update ... Not compatible with my device. Can't afford new device, so I'm cancelling

### 5/5 — Fun and useful

*2020-05-21*

As it says above. It’s great fun and at the same time useful to develop speed and accuracy with chord changes. Although quite a few are basic three and four chord songs others have five and six. Songs can be slowed down when learning and using barre chords in positions further up the neck can add variety and more challenge. The ‘scoring’ function - where the app scores you on performance - could perhaps be a bit better.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Makes practicing and playing more fun

*2023-06-06*

As a beginner, this apps makes learning new songs fun. I highly recommend it for beginners and maybe intermediate players. It’s easier to learn the song with the beat and melody going with you. Worth the money to me.

Update. It’s been a year since last update. Still using and liking the app but have some improvements it needs. The major one is editing the play list. Adding and removing is all good but you have to move each song line by line to change the order. I.E. if I add a new song, it’s at the bottom of playlist. If your list is 40 songs long, and you want it at the top, you have to hit the move button 40 times.

2nd update. 2 years since the last update. It’s looking like what you see is all they’ll be. Still liking and using the app but it could be so much more.

3rd update. Still no app updates or bug fixes. It’s been several months since they’ve added any new songs and customer support has quit responding. Looks like they are abandoning it. I won’t be renewing my subscription

### 1/5 — Got a new phone. After paying for I year of pro.

*2022-06-20, version 3.3.6*

I paid for pro version a few months ago I recently got a new iPhone, and it says I have to buy it again. I’ve requested help, sent multiple emails in the past month with no reply whatsoever this company does not stand by their app.

### 1/5 — Free version doesn’t work

*2022-06-14*

Downloaded after hearing positive reviews but all I get is unable to load song. I have deleted to app and reinstalled it but still get the same result. Would love to give this ahi if the developers could sort it

### 1/5 — Nope

*2021-04-05, version 3.3.6*

Horrible customer service. My case was just dropped after they gave me the same generic info they provide on their FAQ.
I’ve sent three letters to this point that have been ignored still.
It is nice all until you have an issue with the app.

### 1/5 — Lost hundreds of dollars

*2021-02-15, version 3.3.6*

I use to love this app. I purchased hundreds is songs before they went to subscription service. Ever time they upgrade I lost all my songs. I was told to “restore purchases” the first time and I got back most of my purchase but there were still a lot missing. This last time I was asked for receipts for songs I purchased years ago. Who keeps receipts that long? I understand move to subscription due to licensing but not to lose what I paid for. 4 Chords should keep that record.

### 1/5 — expensive subscription model. bought a book

*2020-05-15*

get a book. greedy anual subscription n nu

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with jamstik!!!!

*2019-09-11, version 3.3.6*

I bought a jamstik+ for my kids to learn how to play the guitar because they get frustrated with me teaching them. The ENTIRE reason I bought the jamstik was to use this app! The demo worked perfectly but the second I paid the $37 for a yearly subscription it stopped working. To make matters worse apple refuses to refund my purchase. If you’re looking to use this with jamstik it is NOT supported.

### 1/5 — Used to be brilliant, now just crashes on 3.3.1 onwards, no support

*2019-03-02*

This was easily a five star app, really great for developing as a guitarist. Great range of cool songs ...and then came along the latest update 3.3.1. Now it crashes all the time, normally just after the load screen, although occasionally it manages to run up and start playing, but for it to crash eventually. No reply from support. I bet they’ll just copy-paste the same rubbish about old hardware, when it was working fine for the last two years on an iPad 2 (iOS 12.1.1). Tried reinstalling, but no change. Avoid updating to the latest version, as it’s ruined!
Last two updates have made it even worse, now leaks so much memory it doesn’t make it past the initial screen. No response from support, despite having twice sent crash logs.
Found a better app elsewhere now, so cancelled subscription and uninstalled.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear you haven't been able to use the app. Unfortunately, iOS 12 has been causing several problems on relatively older devices. We While we have been trying to make our app work on these cases and have recently released an update aimed at solving this, sadly, it seems that there is not much we can do at this point. Sorry once again! Best, Musopia.

### 1/5 — App is unstable

*2019-02-21*

After 2 weeks the free version of the app will not load. Very frustrating

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and sorry for the inconvenience. Could you please send a message to info@fourchords.com so we can understand what is happening? Best, Musopia.

### 5/5 — The best, but…

*2024-02-19*

Is it worth the $30 a year? My answer is yes, because I love the songs in there. It reminds me to pick up my Martin more often than I do and I can solidly pick three or four songs to constantly play to the point I can actually do well.

If you aren’t jamming these songs and you have a dusty guitar in your house worth more than $30 you should have this app. At the least, for one sing-along a year with friends it pays for itself. Losing my religion, House of the rising Sun & anything CCR.

**Developer response:** Hello! Sorry to hear you're not happy with the app. However, FourChords still has an annual subscription option and nothing has changed when it comes to that, so you should be able to normally purchase the yearly subscription. Could you please send more details to info@fourchords.com if you're still facing this problem? Regarding the pricing, unfortunately, we need to pay licensing fees for the thousands of songs offered in the songbook, so the subscription prices have to be based on that. Thank you so much for using FourChords! Best, Musopia.

### 5/5 — Real life guitar hero

*2023-04-17*

So many chord and tab sights are hard to read and know how many beats for each chord. If you’re learning both the words and the music it can be almost impossible. The back tracks with melodies make learning and playing so much more enjoyable. Keep adding more songs please. Also lead options would be awesome.

### 5/5 — Great App to Play along

*2022-08-14, version 3.3.6*

Love this app. Lear a few chords, a few strumming patterns and strum along to hundreds of fun songs. Makes even a beginner sound good. Guitar karaoke!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-05-15, version 3.3.6*

Wonderful app! I’ve been using it for several years and it keeps me very busy always working on songs I actually really want to play! I’ve been playing for many years so just following along (I turn the volume on the app down all the way) and just play and learn new songs on my playlist (about 800 songs I have on my playlist) so I never get bored with what I’m playing. The chord boxes let you know what chords to play and the lyrics are included. You can slow songs down as you are learning them and increase the tempo as you become more comfortable! You are able, on some songs, to transpose to a different key, which I love for singing in a key in my range! It also has a tuner and lots of videos for beginners as well as strumming patterns with each song. I highly recommend this app for anyone, beginner to advanced players!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-08-14*

I am not a fantastic guitar player but I can manage to play most of the songs and more are added all the time. I love playing along to the backing tracks. The price of the subscription is reasonable - it enables me to play almost anything I hear on the radio.

### 5/5 — Best guitar learning app I’ve found!

*2021-05-15, version 3.3.6*

I have severe adult adhd but I’m able to focus to learn to keep in time finally!

### 5/5 — That’s the way

*2021-05-11, version 3.3.6*

At first I was like what’s this I can’t keep up with the chords but later after practicing I found it got easier and easier I hope to start singing along while playing the guitar with the tracks lots of good choices too ain’t even a song suggestion my rating is superb now if I could just master yousician

Well it’s been several months since I subscribed I haven’t used as much but I wish you could make a bass guitar program.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-03-15, version 3.3.6*

I’ve been flirting with a guitar for 20 years. Never really was any good at learning how to actually play a song all the way through. This app has made it very easy for me to learn chords, strumming patterns, and the lyrics to so many songs. I have fallen in love with my guitar again. And this app has helped me find it.

### 5/5 — Great for timing and fast chord changes, great selection of tunes

*2020-10-29*

Love this app, forces you to change chords on time, gives feedback on how well you played as a score out of 1000. Great for strumming in time and various patterns

### 5/5 — This app is what I needed 55 years ago!

*2020-08-25, version 3.3.6*

I started with guitar with the books that had you stick colored things on your fingernails and match them up to play silly made up teaching songs. Total failure.
Over the next 40 years, I tried numerous times with series of bad guitars and worse books.
You tube was a little bit better, but carpal tunnel, ripped rotator cuffs and tennis elbow made for misery.
I gave up and gave away my guitars.
Got the badness fixed. Enjoyed Rock Band on the Wi and said let’s try again. Found Justin Guitar and that led me to this app.
What fun! And finally found music coming from my hands!
