### 4/5 — Need a feature to position the iPhone

*2025-10-09*

App is just missing one thing, ability to move the phone frame and not have it just looking straight at you. Besides from that, nothing is missing. I also wish there was a one time payment. Seems like a silly thing to be subscribed to.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the nice review and feature feedback! On the subscription front, this is how we remain motivated to keep the app up to date for you. One off payments can’t do that realistically especially for niche apps like this. Thanks for supporting us.

### 4/5 — terst

### 4/5 — Nice app, but…

*2025-03-27*

It’d be a million times better if you could support multiple screenshots on one canvas (ie side by side)

**Developer response:** Thanks Jimmy! Don’t worry, we got you. It’s coming.

### 5/5 — Better than the default!

*2025-01-19*

When I first mentioned that I have a screenshotting app on my phone, a guy that I was with started to make fun of that and took a screenshot to show off the default. All I did was open Shareshot and he immediately changed his mind and agreed that this app was great!

**Developer response:** Thank you for spreading the word!

### 5/5 — Best app on the go for indie developers

*2025-01-18*

It has been really easy to share my journey in socials developing my app thanks to ShareShot

**Developer response:** That’s fantastic news, good luck with your app!

### 5/5 — So easy!

*2025-01-13*

Super easy to use! Getting well framed screenshots has always been a wonky part of my workflow for some reason - looks like Shareshot can finally fix that!!

**Developer response:** We’re glad we could fix your wonky workflow!

### 5/5 — THE solution for those who actually frame

*2024-12-25*

As his co-editor notes in MacStories' review of Version 1.0, Federico Viticci's Apple Frames Shortcut does indeed overlap in functionality with Shareshot, technically, but - more importantly, from my perspective - the two stand together high above any other mockup creation solution (for any platform).

At first, I was disappointed when I tried to use Shareshot's initial release version. *Boy, this could sure use some keyboard shortcuts*, I thought, along with *there's no way this system of 'choosing' (not choosing) frame sizes isn't irritating every single user of this app*. I assumed - as I do with the vast majority of new software I try these days - that Shareshot's creators must not actually be using the app, that it wasn't actually supposed to be used, really, but was published, instead, for some economically-motivated reason I'd never understand.

Very shortly after, however, *the most* extraordinarily encouraging thing(s) happened: in the span of just a single season, *all* of the issues/"missing" features I was sure anyone using the app extensively would immediately encounter were addressed with solid, well-documented updates.(Tee ell dee are: it is very obvious that Marc and Mark use the app themselves, are very competent, and value customer feedback.)

As I write this using Version 1.2.1 at the tail end of 2024, Shareshot is perfect, built-for-me mockup application I have always dreamed of, assuming I'd never get anything close.

**Developer response:** Thanks NeoYokel! Glad we came through for you. We’re hard at work on lots of other features users are asking for too. We love making tools that people enjoy.

### 5/5 — Tolle App

*2024-12-01*

Kann es jedem empfehlen ist nur ohne pro relativ nutzlos weil man immer ein extrem hässliches Wasserzeichen in der Ecke hat

**Developer response:** Vielen Dank für Ihre Empfehlung!

### 5/5 — Just use this. It’s perfect.

*2024-10-24*

Shareshot consistently triggers a “how did you make that?” from friends and family, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s what I imagined a tool like this would be like if Federico Viticci made his Apple Frames Shortcut into an app. Everything is well considered and ridiculously simple.

Just use this app. You won’t regret it.

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2024-10-01*

So easy to use. And it works great with Shortcuts app.

**Developer response:** Thanks! We’re so glad you like it.

### 5/5 — Great tool!

*2024-09-28*

Thanks for creating this delightful tool. Keep up the great work! I can’t wait to see future updates.

**Developer response:** Thank you — we can’t wait to ship some new features!

### 5/5 — Love the look

*2024-09-28*

Love the app, such a great upgrade from the shortcut! The background variety is just awesome, reminds me of Denim is a very nice way.

I'm actually using this for my own App Store Previews. It'd be great to get custom sizes exported, that would save me a few steps 😅 And longer term support for screen recordings and animated backgrounds would be sick. Keep up the good work!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words and suggestions!

### 5/5 — Excellent For Sharing to Socials!

*2024-09-27*

There’s so much care and thought that’s gone into creating this app. As an app developer myself, being able to grab a screenshot on-device, launch Shareshot (via a Siri shortcut, even!), and share a beautifully framed image directly to Instagram is a game changer.

Thanks for building this!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the lovely review, it truly means a lot to us! We are so glad you like it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Subscription based app

*2026-04-06, version 1.4.4*

This is a subscription based app, which means you’ll never own it and will have to keep paying forever just to use it. No matter how well made an app is, if it’s a subscription based app, it is a bad app. There is no such thing as a good subscription based app. Avoid at all costs

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-06-10*

I take a screenshot and it doesn’t appear in the screen to frame. I use Shortcuts to take the screenshot with the Take Screenshot command and then save the image, but this app doesn’t see it. So either Apple is lying with the Take Screenshot command (and I see the screenshot in my photos) or this app is wrong.

Either way, it doesn’t work.

**Developer response:** Hi - Marc, developer of the app here. I'm sorry it's not working as you'd expect but please contact us via our support option in the app's settings screen. It sounds like you have two separate issues — a failure to recognise screenshots you take (could be a cropping or old device issue) and an issue with shortcuts, which depends on how you built your shortcut which I can also help with. Please just get in touch so we can help!

### 1/5 — It’s a hot mess.

*2025-05-30*

I wanted a quick, easy tool to frame screenshot, nothing fancy. But Shareshot is all smoke and mirrors. The app claims to support a range of device frames, but in reality, it auto-detects your screenshot and refuses to let you pick a frame manually. If it doesn’t recognize your device (like my 2020 MacBook Air)? You’re out of luck. Want to “try another model”? Too bad, there’s no list, no picker, and no control. Even though the help suggests trying “older” model frames, but you can’t do it.

Even the downloadable "frame packs" (like Meta/Facebook devices) are locked behind a Pro paywall—and still won’t work unless the screenshot metadata matches their system exactly. At the end of the day, this app slaps a transparent PNG over your screenshot... something I could do in Preview for free.

Restrictive, over-engineered, and not worth your time.

**Developer response:** Hi, Marc here the developer of the Shareshot. I can understand your disappointment, but I assure you there's no deception here! In fact when you run the app on your Mac it will be showing you a clear message that your 2020 MacBook Air is not supported on the main screen. There is normally a picker to choose alternative frames available to all users including free users but we pride ourselves on only fitting images to frames that match perfectly otherwise the results are ugly and require weird stretching or cropping. So the picker only appears if there are frames that will fit your screenshot exactly. That is the whole point of the app.

You have not contacted us by support that I know of or we could have explained this to you and perhaps avoided a 1-start rating which really affects our reputation as an indie developer trying to do our best for everyone (see other reviews).

Sadly your particular 5-year old Mac simply does not have an official frame available. I'm afraid I don't have the time and resources to create one specially for the very small number of users who want this.

A solution for you to continue using the app for free:

If you are happy to use the wrong size device frame for your image as you seem to be saying, you can just open your screenshot in Preview on your Mac and use the "Adjust Size..." option to change it to a resolution of a MacBook that the app supports and then you can save it and drop it into the app and it will frame it. For example, resizing to 2560 x 1664 will get you the MacBook Air 13" 2024 frame, but you will see some vertical stretching of your screenshot, which is unavoidable because you had to resize the image. I don't recommend it and it takes more time, but I'm just offering this because you implied you don't mind what frame is actually used.

If you have any more questions please get in touch via our support email.

### 1/5 — Subscription app with no lifetime unlock

*2024-08-19*

Immediately deleted. Would happily pay full price for the app or a lifetime unlock. I have some apps I’ve paid over $100 for the lifetime unlock. I’m not paying for yet another app that thinks it’s entitled to another recurring subscription.

**Developer response:** I’m sorry you feel this way, but we are trying to build a sustainable business model for the app. So few people would pay enough for a lifetime unlock, and actually subscription of around $15 per year gives users much more freedom to try things and change their mind and use something else without wasting $100. At $15 per year, that’s nearly seven years of usage before you hit $100 total spent. Just over a dollar per month.

### 3/5 — Disappointed

*2026-08-19*

No frame for 17 Pro Max showing. I had no problem with the last 2 generations. Disappointing because it was great when it worked.

**Developer response:** Can you please contact me so we can investigate this because I’m not aware of any issues with this. We have all the latest device frames. It may be you have cropped a screenshot (which won’t match) or used a screenshot from another device?

Mail support@montanafloss.co and I can help you!

### 3/5 — Sehr schöne App, aber…

*2025-12-24*

### 3/5 — Cool app but a subscription is dumb

*2025-10-14*

It’s a really cool app, and it’s very well-made. I just think bundling a subscription for something that like this that has a very singular function is really silly. Just let someone pay one time like $20 or something for a lifetime access to that. Even an app like Flighty that’s way more popular allows for a lifetime access option. Also, the frames are limited to the most recent iPhones, but don’t include the iPhone Air. Overall, I just think another subscription is lame.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. We understand your feelings about subscriptions. However a lifetime purchase does not guarantee you anything. The app can still stop updating/shut down and is more likely to survive with subscriptions. We want to be here for the long term, and it’s a relatively niche app.

### 3/5 — Subscription expensive for what it is

*2024-09-22*

Great looking app though. A subscription for screenshots is excessive.

Maybe sell individual packs of phone frames each year and iPhone is released. At least you won’t be charged again when none of the updates are required for your phone.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review! You can of course use it completely free, there is no need to subscribe if you are OK with a watermark. We’re sorry you feel a subscription is excessive but even if you purchased individual frames we’d still have to work on the app to keep it compatible with system updates and add new features. An app like this has a small audience and subscriptions give us the ability to sustain development of it.

### 3/5 — Lacking features for a subscription app

*2024-08-28*

Doesn’t seem to be worth a subscription, maybe a one time purchase? I took a landscape screenshot, and it totally borked out, saying it couldn’t match a frame to the shot?? Hopefully, the devs will make it better with updates, but at this time…..not worth it!

**Developer response:** Hi - can you please contact us using the info in the app and share with us what device you have and an example screenshot? We may be able to help you if you reach out.

### 4/5 — Need a feature to position the iPhone

*2026-06-25*

App is just missing one thing, ability to move the phone frame and not have it just looking straight at you. Besides from that, nothing is missing. I also wish there was a one time payment. Seems like a silly thing to be subscribed to.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the nice review and feature feedback! On the subscription front, this is how we remain motivated to keep the app up to date for you. One off payments can’t do that realistically especially for niche apps like this. Thanks for supporting us.

Love it

**Developer response:** Thank you! I work hard to make it a joy to use.

### 5/5 — Great app. A request:

*2026-01-15*

I would LOVE for there to be an option for video- with the frame. It’s such a small thing but it would be so good

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review, it makes me happy that you enjoy it! We plan to add video support at some point in the future, but we have no timeline to give you right now.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2025-10-10*

Big fan of this app! I wish Apple didn’t have such a limited memory window so the share to worked better. But that’s apples fault. This thing is rock solid.

**Developer response:** Thanks, this means a lot to us! We’re thinking about ways we can make the share sheet experience better.

### 5/5 — Super effective

*2025-08-14*

Really handy little utility and even supports Nintendo Switch now.

**Developer response:** Thanks Christopher! So happy you like it.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2025-04-14*

Easy to use

**Developer response:** Thanks! ❤️

### 5/5 — Very attractive backgrounds

*2025-03-17*

Screenshot looks amazing. on 15 pro max, i cant imagine how they would look on iphone 16 pro max. Great app. Thanks for mac version.

**Developer response:** Thanks - we are so glad you like it!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-03-15*

Great app, I like how you can take a screenshot on your watch and have it instantly appear on the app. Also fun for sharing screenshots from my Nintendo switch. Very useful and convenient.

### 5/5 — Shareshot on Mac – Brilliantly Fast and Seamless!

*2025-03-10*

As a frequent user of Shareshot on iOS, I’m very excited to have it on Mac! I’m able able to take my screen shots, drag them into Shareshot, add a background, and then instantly drag them outstraight into Mail or Dropbox, making sharing unbelievably quick and effortless. Its an amazing addition to my workflow!

### 5/5 — Subscription 100% Worth It

*2025-01-27*

I’m paying for the features and the speed at which it gets the job done. From taking a screenshot to placing it where I want it, it takes less than 10 seconds. Anywhere else, you’d be wasting time with border settings and applying a background, and then you’d have to pay for it. This app is brilliant and gets the job done very well.

The only thing I’d like to see is a copy and delete option. So, when I copy the new screenshot, the original is deleted. It would be nice to know that I don’t have to worry about screenshots cluttering my camera roll, and it would make the overall experience much cleaner.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the lovely review and feature suggestion!
