### 1/5 — App is a looser

*2025-04-20, version 7.4.0*

Just downloaded the app. My fat fingers got to close to the screen and accidentally asked for billing history and it’s in a loop with no way out. No back button Nothing. What a waste. I should have checked the reviews first.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-04-08, version 7.4.0*

App is unusable, full of errors and bugs that prevent you from charging.

### 1/5 — I use them all the time, but their own app is very unreliable

*2025-03-18, version 7.4.0*

I drive all over rural Oklahoma and thank God for these guys because they are usually the only game in town and certainly the only game with even modestly fast chargers.

That said, it is darn near impossible to plan trips with them because their app doesn’t accurately display their chargers or says chargers work when they don’t.

You will need the app to pay, but PlugShare is a must—and they are not even conveniently mapped there.

I’m planning a drive to Ada and back to OKC tomorrow and NONE of their chargers are displaying even with filters cleared as I plan my route.

Please do better!!!

### 1/5 — Bad bad bad

*2025-01-30, version 7.4.0*

Awful experience all the way around

### 1/5 — Unreliable, Frustrating, and a Complete Disservice to EV Drivers

*2025-01-30, version 7.4.0*

Francis Energy chargers in Tulsa are the most unreliable and problematic EV chargers I’ve ever dealt with. It’s beyond frustrating that a company with so many negative reviews and ongoing complaints still refuses to improve its user experience.

Every time I attempt to charge, I have to call customer service just for them to remotely activate the charger. This is an unacceptable and time-consuming process—charging an EV should not require jumping through hoops every single time.

I can always count on at least one, if not multiple, chargers to be broken or malfunctioning. The fact that these same issues have persisted for years with no real effort to fix them is embarrassing. Francis Energy clearly does not prioritize reliability or customer satisfaction, making it one of the worst charging networks in the region.

If you rely on these chargers, be prepared for constant frustration, delays, and wasted time. I would not recommend Francis Energy to any EV owner unless they make serious improvements. They certainly will no longer receive my money.

### 1/5 — Should be Criminal

*2025-01-21*

Consistently the worst charging network around. It should be illegal to fleece the government for EV station money and then completely neglect all of the chargers you built. Every single time I use Francis chargers over half of them are broken or malfunctioning.

### 1/5 — Horrible experience

*2024-12-31, version 7.4.0*

The whole experience is terrible. Avoid this charging network if you can. They don’t honor their stated pricing even after multiple calls to customer service. Their electricity rates are much higher than ANY other charging network and their service is worse too. They force you to download an app and give personal info just to charge. Just let me pay and go! Every step and detail of this experience was awful. AVOID!

### 1/5 — Awful company!

*2024-12-15, version 7.4.0*

Do NOT Rely on Francis energy for your travels!!!!

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2024-07-10, version 7.4.0*

Chargers never work!!

### 1/5 — Absolute Garbage

*2024-03-31, version 7.4.0*

Their chargers never work. Their app never works. Their website doesn’t work. Suddenly the password I use is incorrect somehow, and no matter how many times I do the “Forgot Password” option to change it, whether through the app or website, I never get an email to do so. Nothing in my spam folder or anywhere. They also never responded to any of my emails for customer support regarding their chargers not working.

If you have similar issues with this company, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General of Oklahoma. Action will be taken if they receive enough complaints.

### 1/5 — App immediately crashes.

*2024-03-01*

The app will not open without crashing on iOS 17.3.1

### 1/5 — Thank god Tesla will be the standard going forward.

*2023-12-25, version 7.4.0*

This is the worst setup I’ve ever seen. Their stations won’t accept payment so you have to use this horrible app. The app asks for so much information upfront and you have to constantly renter your credit card info. Who came up with this? What software company made this trash?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worst experience of my life

*2026-02-04, version 8.3.0*

Not only is it a 50% chance that the machine is even working but it’s also a 50/50 chance that the app does its job. I’ve been to 6 of these machines and every single time I’ve had to call the customer service. the customer service has no clue what they’re doing and will either lie to you on what to do ending in failure. They can’t answer a single question without lying to you about what to do. Also it averages 15$-30$ every time why tf would I get an EV if it’s more expensive than gas

### 1/5 — My New Friend Francis

*2026-01-09, version 8.3.0*

*Best for Large EVs*

1. Scanned the QR code on the station and downloaded the Francis Energy app

2. Created a new account

3. Connected cable to vehicle

4. Navigated app to current station location.

5. Initiated charging by selecting cable (unclear which is which, room for improvement here).

6. Ate my burrito

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2025-11-16, version 8.3.0*

Very unreliable, over 90% of the time chargers do not work.

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage

*2025-11-05, version 8.3.0*

If the charging station map on you phone tells you the last station before you run out of charge is Francis Energy, STOP BEFORE YOU GET THERE. 9 p.m. in BF Oklahoma, the machines are all lit up,, but chick on the phone says they’re not working and seems quite unconcerned about it. The last one we stopped at was a giant hassle, too.

### 1/5 — Worse charging experience ever

*2025-08-31, version 8.3.0*

This charger is more then the supercharger and it’s a slow charger do not go here unless you want to pay $30 to charger up for 100 miles

### 1/5 — Government corruption

*2025-08-16, version 8.3.0*

Each charging station costs the taxpayers $100k yet they have the audacity to charge almost 3x as much as a supercharger despite being slower. Instead of nacs chargers which about half of ev owners use, they decide to waste money by only building css and chademo plugs. NOBODY USES CHADEMO.

The app is poorly made as well. At the Roswell station it didn’t work at all and neither did the card reader. Thankfully the website worked but that’s the bare minimum. The only reason I use these chargers is because they have a monopoly over charging stations in New Mexico and there is literally no other option.

I’ve never felt the need to phone up congressmen until now because nobody deserves to win government contracts less than this terrible company.

### 1/5 — Should be Criminal

*2025-07-26, version 8.3.0*

Consistently the worst charging network around. It should be illegal to fleece the government for EV subsidy money and then completely neglect all of the chargers you built. Every single time I use Francis chargers over half of them are broken or malfunctioning.

Update: 7/26/25
Add a none functioning app to comedy of errors that is the Francis energy charging experience. Will not load charging data and my wife reports charging ends when leaving the app.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work anymore

*2025-07-17, version 8.3.0*

The app has not shown any chargers in my area for a very, very long time, though I live in a metro area with numerous charging stations that I have used before. Charging will not work for me whether I'm using the app, the QR code, or the customer service force-start. Very unreliable.

### 1/5 — Avoid these chargers at all cost

*2025-07-17, version 8.3.0*

Nothing but junk

### 1/5 — No Dark Mode in “New” App

*2025-05-16, version 8.3.0*

The Francis charging network is hit or miss at best. However, its app has always been abysmal. They’ve updated the app, and to be fair, I haven’t used it to charge yet. However, in 2025, there is absolutely no excuse to create a new app and not include a dark mode.

My rating is solely for the lack of dark mode.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Makes charging a piece of cake!

*2025-05-19, version 8.3.0*

I absolutely love the simplicity of the latest update! The new dashboard is much more user-friendly and intuitive. Everything is easier to find and navigate, making the overall experience so much smoother. Great job to the team behind this—this update is a big win!

### 5/5 — Makes charging a piece of cake!

*2024-01-30*

Many people recommended through plugshare to download this app in order to use the Francis chargers. Come to find out, it’s not mandatory. There is a guest option. But I’m so glad I did. As soon as I pulled up to the charger and opened my app it was already connecting to the charger. As soon as I connected the charger I was able to jump back in my car to stay warm and control the charging session.

### 4/5 — In dash

*2024-06-14, version 7.4.0*

Please make an app for the new chevy EV’s that works with the in dash system.

### 4/5 — Not that bad

*2023-12-19, version 7.4.0*

Its a little janky about some things but it basically works and they have a decent network of locations.

### 4/5 — Quick and easy to setup

*2023-05-25, version 7.4.0*

Information took 5 minutes to input and prompts were clear and information was probably the least intrusive I’ve had to fill out on an app in last 5 years.

### 2/5 — Chargers ok. App is hot garbage

*2025-12-30, version 8.3.0*

If you need the app to charge, good luck. But if you use PlugShare and find a good charger that takes credit cards just do that .

### 2/5 — Basically worthless

*2025-12-28, version 8.3.0*

Our family, fortunately, rarely ever needs to use public chargers. This Christmas was the first time we’d taken a trip that required the utilization of the public charging network. As such, we used almost every variation out there. Each time, we either had apps to download and/or could use a credit card at the station. Nothing about the Francis Energy station we stopped at was obvious about it’s use. Credit cards wouldn’t work. The app wouldn’t work. After we called to get help because we felt stuck there without the ability to charge up to continue, the agent got the charger to start. It would only send 85kw to our vehicle. (Much less than the 200kw stated for the station) *there were no other cars charging in case anyone thinks that may have been why*. The rates were also the absolute highest we saw anywhere from Colorado to Tennessee. The unfortunate thing is that most will only read this too late.

### 2/5 — Issues with car id

*2025-07-13, version 8.3.0*

The app does not allow my to enter my car nor change my password. The App makes we want to take I70 to avoid Francis Energy Chargers. I drive a 2026 model car that is not an option in the system. I can enter it as a 2026 but keep getting an error that the car belongs to someone else. Concerned about security with a password I can not change.

### 2/5 — Eventually Worked

*2025-05-16, version 8.3.0*

We used the app to charge a Vinfast VF8 on I-90 Indiana Toll Road. I tried the first charging station. (This was a level 3 fast charger) It took me a while to figure out the app wanted the charging station number and where to find it. When I did figure it out and connected the cable, it looked like it might work, and then didn’t. Each time it failed, I had a hard time getting the car to release the cable. I ended up on the phone with Francis Energy for about 30 minutes trying to get the car to charge. Eventually I moved the car to another Francis Energy charger and it magically started working. It took about 30 minutes to get the car sufficiently charged. There was a place to eat nearby. The customer service rep did not know why it was not working or why it did eventually work. It looks like you can just use a credit card at the charger. I would probably just try that next time. It does make the Tesla chargers look attractive. There were 8 just sitting there. The cost of the charge seemed similar to the cost of getting gas. Much cheaper, of course, to just charge at home. Faster on the road to just get gas.

### 2/5 — Slow enrollment

*2024-03-09*

When you find the charger was Francis Energy, your first enrollment is a bit slow. Would have enjoyed auto fill, especially for credit card. It was cold, windy, snowy Oklahoma night trying to k get just enough charge to make it the last 15 miles. Half the time at charger was spent getting the enrollment done. But, it did work - and I was able to start the charge from app after I unplugged replugged (station timed out after initial connection while trying to get going.
