However, the graph images are being cropped so only the top half is visable. This affects the image no matter, so when saving a photo it only saves the top half of the graph. Once this is resolved, I look forward to changing my rating to five stars. ### 3/5 — App is Utter Garbage, Data is Incredible Though! *2025-10-03, version 5.8* The entirety of this app is carried by the data they provide, and rightfully so. However, if you are going to make an app at least have some developers on the team with UI experience. This is truly an eyesore to open and the website is so much better. With that being said, and I know this is a real reach here, but it would be awesome if you could include widgets of at least our favorite's. Would be awesome to not even have to open the app and just see the real time market data. ### 3/5 — I’d like to give it more than 3 stars but bugs make it unusable *2025-02-09, version 5.7* FRED itself is great but the iPhone app is unusable given the graphs are like off the screen every time and can’t even be viewed properly for whatever reason Also think I’ve had issues with logging in and saving data or comparisons. If they fix it I’d be happy to edit my review to 4 or 5 stars. ### 2/5 — Broken *2025-01-15, version 5.7* Very good app until it just stopped working around Dec/Jan. The chart is cut off at the bottom. ### 2/5 — Needs work *2024-12-23, version 5.7* Doesn’t let you scroll through the graph, meaning you will only see maybe half the charts even if you turn your phone horizontally. If you do turn your phone horizontally, all you will be able to see is half a graph and not be able to change settings or parameters. When you select years, it will automatically give you projections instead of actual, meaning if you select “1 year” it will give you a projection of 2033-2034 instead of actual 2023-2024. Gonna keep the app because I would like to see it become more robust, but right now, this ain’t it chief. Better to go through the browser than the app. ### 3/5 — Dated but handy *2024-12-11, version 5.7* It is very nerdy but I absolutely love to have my fred data handy and ready to pull out for quick conversations about the economy. My biggest problem is how clunky, buggy and unreliable the app can be. For example, I tried to show my friend a CPI chart that I had made on the PC with CPI Less housing and Core CPI. But when I went to show the graph on the expanded horizontal view, it bugged out and did not show half of the data. I wish that this app got a good overhaul or at least regular bug fixes. ### 3/5 — Enhancements *2024-12-04, version 5.7* Would be nice to see all of the Edit Graph features from the web version. Good info and content but it doesn't help me if I can't use the bulk of the features. I see an update hasn't been released in over 6 months so wondering if a big one is coming soon? ### 2/5 — Search is a disaster *2022-07-25, version 5.2.3* Doesn’t update doesn’t work ### 2/5 — Sloppy outdated user interface with poor usability *2022-05-16, version 5.2.3* Text is too small and inconsistently sized, chart captions are impossible to read on the home screen, and there’s a lot of wasted screen space in my iPhone 13 Pro with the bottom third of the screen being completely empty. I feel unhappy, overwhelmed, and lost trying to get information out of this app. It feels like it was designed on a computer then shrunk down to a mobile phone screen. The user interface is out of date and does not adapt to larger screens. It’s time to completely rethink your strategy for this app. ### 3/5 — App is buggy again *2022-03-10, version 5.2.0* 5.2 is buggy with the search. ### 3/5 — Buggy search *2022-03-05, version 5.2.0* The search function is quite buggy; it only works sometimes and other times is completely unresponsive to my input. ### 1/5 — Incredibly inefficient to use *2021-10-29* I have used Fred for years for data. It is incredible the data they have available. Yet, the only reasonably efficient way to use it is the website. They have an Excel plugin that could be/should be fantastic, but is buggy and they state that it is “available but unsupported” and not to be updated. No kidding. The mobile apps could also be great, but you have to ask if they ever tried to really use the iPad app. On the opening page, there are several thumbnail charts, too small to read what they are . It cannot be used in landscape mode, which would in most apps spread them across the wider space in a larger size. So you have click on a charts to see what it is, but then it is formatted in a huge image that puts axes off the page. It can rotate to landscape, but is still inappropriately formatted. The refusal to rotate continues when you look at the list of data series in categories, so the text is almost microscopic. In contrast, the website works well and renders the other api’s pointless endeavors. For such brilliant data geeks as the St. Louis Fed (and that is a sincere complement) these apps are an embarrassment. SOMEBODY among all those great analysts should be able to direct the app designers to put together a useful product. (PLEASE update and fix the Excel plugin! Expanding graph axises go off page with (seemingly) no way to resize to fit to view. Web FRED works better on my phone. It happens when I try to make a sign in through Apple account or when I try using a regular email. ### 1/5 — Crashes, flips aspects randomly *2022-11-16, version 5.2.3* This is a very poor app. It is difficult to find data (among waves of lists), the app has crashed every time (seriously 100% of the time) that I’ve tried to use it, and it flips between landscape and portrait mode on its own and seemingly without reason. I deleted it after a few attempts. No point playing with this app. It’s the worst app I’ve ever encountered. ### 1/5 — The search bar doesn’t work *2022-08-17, version 5.2.3* The search bar doesn’t narrow down the list of things you’re looking for. When I want to look for “home price,” it’ll read the “h” and start listing suggestions starting with h, but it doesn’t do anything with the rest of the search term. I just need the series names to call data into MATLAB, but the website is 10x better.
