The defence from the developers below shows they don’t have a clue that it’s businesses using FreeAgent. Maybe the takeover by RBS-NatWest has rendered the developers to inefficient RBS processes and workshops. If you’re struggling with Quickbooks sole trader not working, then get yourself a Mettle bank account and set yourself up with this completely free. It works perfectly, seems to be no bugs or glitches and support is quick and helpful. I’ve been looking for an alternative for 2 years and this is it! Only suggestion I’d make would be for it to include an automatic mileage tracker, but I now use another app for that and will add the mileage into FreeAgent in bulk at the end of the tax year. ### 4/5 — Solid app but more integration needed *2025-03-13, version 4.20.1* I like the app a lot, however a critical integration with Revolut Pro is missing - pretty important feature for freelancers like myself. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Older phones unsupported *2026-01-03, version 4.13.1* Another app development that doesn’t allow older phones to work with it ### 1/5 — Useless with older operating system! *2025-12-16, version 5.3.0* Can no longer use as app needs iOS 18 and won’t proceed without updating… my phone has no space to update to iOS 18. The app freezes again & again. I usually reset the whole phone, lately I just delete the app & restore it. I’m only using the app because it helps the accounting team. For the first time ever this year, I’ve filed limited liability accounts and associated paperwork, straight to both Companies House and HMRC, without needing to call on the services of my accountant. If your incoming funds and outgoings have been properly catergorised, you can file end of year accounts and even self assessment data straight to the authorities via FreeAgent. Between Stripe and GoCardless, I think we’ve got most payments sorted. I’ve a slight criticism; FreeAgent needs to get up to speed with AI, and Claude Code connectors and MCP access, in particular. I don’t think I could run my business as well without FreeAgent and its army of customer support help.
