## What is FreeCell on That Hill?

Your hands probably still remember.

The rhythm of laying cards down from the top left. That small hesitation before parking one in a free cell. The quiet satisfaction of a run finally connecting. This is the FreeCell that came with your computer, rebuilt down to the feel of it.

Card sizes, the way stacks overlap, the colour a selected card inverts to — all measured off the original and put back. There are no sound effects, because there weren't any then either.

There is nothing new to learn. No tutorial, no sign-in, no animation before you start. You open it, and it's already dealt.

◆ Come back to the same deal, any time
Every deal is decided by its number. Type the same number and you get the same layout years later, on any device. Go back to the one that beat you, or play a friend's deal and compare. 32,000 of them.

◆ It stays out of the way
Ads are one thin strip outside the board. Nothing covers the game while you play, and there are no pop-ups.

◆ Works with no signal
Offline, exactly the same.

◆ Your record, kept quietly
Wins, losses, streaks and win rate are counted for you. Look when you feel like it.

◆ Six languages
English / 日本語 / 繁體中文 / 简体中文 / 한국어 / Français

Runs on iPhone and iPad. On iPad you get the wide layout, the way it was on screen back then.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 0.8.2 — 2026-09-20

• When a column gets long in portrait, the foundation and free-cell frames become shorter and the cards are clipped to the same rounded shape. A gap is kept between the areas.

• A card you are dragging is now always drawn above the others.

• Sending everything home animates only the cards that actually move; cards that merely close up settle in place.

• Fixed the layout when swapping sides in landscape.

• When cards can still be moved but the game can no longer be won, the app now tells you.

### 0.8.1 — 2026-09-16

• More room for the cards. The title bar is gone and the board now runs right up to the notch. In portrait the cards themselves are larger.

• Cards move now. Pick the speed from 0.0 to 0.5 seconds (menu → "Animation speed"). Auto-playing everything home animates a card at a time as well.

• A difficulty setting: Easy, Normal, Hard. Deal numbers work exactly as before — only the range they are drawn from changes.

• The winning picture now fills the screen instead of sitting in a small dialog.

• A card face setting: Normal or Large index (menu → "Card face"). The faces themselves were rebuilt from the original template.

• Select a single card, tap where it should go, and the run stacked under it comes along.

• A new deal every time you open the app.

• Plus a reworked landscape layout and assorted fixes.

### 0.7.0 — 2026-09-11

No release notes.
