New sign-ups seem to be closed, too. Incredibly disappointing. ### 1/5 — Worse *2022-07-15, version 8.2* Why is this on the UK App Store anymore. It’s stopped working for SMS texts and stopped being supported in the UK about a year ago. I had two mobile numbers with them and texting between them only worked to send. Replying back to a text always fails, without telling you that it failed. And their support guru’s said they were not going to fix it, and recommended 3. 3 bought this so pant apparently, and now don’t support it or setup it to work properly… so eventually you will decide to pay something higher on their network. They’ve been making small vampire charges to my debit card for years and are now force converting all users to a $4/month mandatory charge. Connections are made via the USA, by the time connection is made in the U.K. people think they have dialled for over a minute and hang up. Very inconsistent connections, that’s if you get connected in the first place. Relies on WiFi around you. We have 4G but connection signal is always low and ends up on 3G. Hard to dial out- connection gets cut off. Incoming call-one ring and connection cuts. How can this happen on the 21st Century with all the technology. It just says you can’t sign up in the app then takes you to the website that has no mention of anything that’s free. This is false advertising which I thought was illegal in the USA. I would never buy anything from a company that starts off by lying to me. Seriously, how shady can you be. What a total joke, I’m totally going to find out how to report this to my state government because this is unbelievable. ### 1/5 — Worst phone service provider company *2025-04-02, version 8.5* This company calls itself number one company. While in reality, they are more towards the bottom of the barrel. That’s for the following reasons: First they have an app that does not work when it comes to renewing the plan. Number two reason is: every time placing a phone call, be prepared to have your call dropped. Just don’t try and get in touch with customer service - cuz it won’t happen!!! Just make sure you watch carefully that you are not being charged, and you’re good to go! Free (number of) calls, free (number of) texts, and a very very limited amount of data! Like I say, for what I use it for, I cannot complain. I am not constantly getting logged out either. I contrast this with another carrier’s app which had a ton of problems. FreedomPop’s coverage isn’t amazing in my area, I’d give it 3 stars for coverage. But for the price?? 5 stars! You read can’t go wrong here. Talk and text for an incredibly cheap price! I pay $35 every 6 months for unlimited talk and 1gb of data per month. MMS cost an extra $10 every 6 months if you want that. I’ve had to deal with customer service through support ticket and have been satisfied with their help. IMPORTANT!! Just be sure to turn off automatic top up so that you won’t be charged when you run out of data. ### 5/5 — FreedomPop *2018-12-13, version 7.2* It is VOIP. It works as expected. If you read what it is and use it according, it works great. WiFi is the best method but the data coverage in the United States matches the towers they are using. GSM is AT&T, CDMA is Sprint. GSM is the better coverage generally but you need to evaluate where you are using it and the coverage for that area to determine what will work. If you don’t want VOIP, then you should consider something not VOIP. Works very well for me.
