Also Some ads if you accidentally click them and open them when they open there is no option to close them, so you have to quit and close the app down to restart it again. If you could add a close button to ads if you click them that would be great. Keep up the good work bro this app is really good and I appreciate the work you put into it 💪🙏 This is the best music app, it’s free and has no ads and can play in the background while you use your phone for other things highly recommend! **Developer response:** With the latest update, background playback works and is stable 🥳 ### 3/5 — Almost the perfect app (please respond freedy team) *2026-04-13, version 1.5.0* Almost the perfect music app absolutely great it has little issues but one very large one that I don’t see why it isn’t implemented. The app has every song and no ads and can transfer playlists from Spotify but the only large main issue is that when I close the app or go to the home screen my music stops which for a music app makes absolutely no sense and I wish it didn’t do that every other music app has that feature why can’t freefy have it and it would be perfect ### 3/5 — Sigh. *2026-03-30* I really thought it was gonna be a good app. I researched looked at everything, it looked good. I downloaded it and what do ya know. It was Eh? No hate on the creators. But the creation just likely needed to be looked at more. It just needed to be cared for, it could’ve been magnificent. Please fix and make it so it plays in the background. Why has the option to play the video small gone, it was an option so then I could slide it to the side and keep it playing in the background. That button is gone now. ### 3/5 — Can’t listen while phone is off *2025-12-29, version 1.4.0* I’ve been using Spotify and always got ads. I use Spotify still but only for videos. Freefy has no ads and can repeat sounds for free. My only problem is you can’t turn off your phone and still listen like you can with Spotify. Please fix that. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — disappointment. *2026-07-20* I recently downloaded the app, thought it was gonna be at least decent. Start trying to login, app was a bit slow and laggy at first so I had to refresh over 3 times, finally manage to login and i go to the search to find some songs to add to a playlist, then there’s connectivity issues and when I search up a song nothing pops up even if the song is very well known and popular (I’ve tried it with multiple songs on there and still nothing showed) and at first I thought it was just my internet but I’ve went on other apps and it was perfectly fine. I managed to add only 3 songs to a playlist. Overall I personally wouldn’t recommend the app as it’s difficult to even run properly. ### 1/5 — Not great *2026-06-30* I will never understand developers that spend all this time trying to make a free music app like this one, and then plug it full of adverts plastered all over the user interface. What do you expect? Revenue from somebody clicking the adverts? It's not very good. It doesn't work in CarPlay at all. I recommend going elsewhere for your free music needs. ### 1/5 — Pretty unuseable unfortunatey *2026-06-20* Its a cool idea but you cant listen in the background? I assume this is because the songs are pulled directly from youtube. Lots of the songs also lead to privated youtube videos and hence you cannot listen to them. Almost every album and artist has many duplicates, not sure what thats about. Simply fix background play and privated videos and this app is a solid 4 stars. I’m personally way too broke for Spotify and I can’t stand constant interruptions, so I went digging a little and found this a few years ago. It’s got all the songs you would want, all with very little ads. I’ll go through some pros and cons. Pros: Completely free with no subscription options. Infinite skips, no ads (other than easily closable banners), plays even while phone is in sleep mode. Plays music videos on some songs, since it streams off YouTube. They’ll port your Spotify playlist over for free if you email them. Great support: when the app updated to Freefy 2.0, the UI changed and all playlists were erased until you entered the archived 1.0 version. People complained, and it was rolled back within days. Cons: Tends to crash when Wi-Fi isn’t great. It sometimes won’t put the video into MiniPlayer, so it can take a few tries for the song to play while your phone is in sleep mode. Only major bugs include: Occasionally requiring you to manually turn the music back on, because it doesn’t always go to the next song (only happens if video is in MiniPlayer or only playing audio), and sometimes (very rarely, I believe they patched it) it will loop the same 2 or 3 songs instead of shuffling your full playlist. Summary: While it has issues, Freefy is totally worth your time. ### 5/5 — Better than Spotify *2025-07-26, version 1.4.0* A real music app ### 5/5 — Nevermind, got it to work. *2025-07-14, version 1.3.1* Was experiencing log in difficulties, but it seems to have sorted itself out. ### 5/5 — It needs work *2025-05-23, version 1.3.1* I like the app. I think it’s good to use for ad free. But there’s some things that could be fixed that are kind of annoying. For example I would have the pause and unpause my music. Which this was fixed a little but and I don’t mind it as much but it is still a little annoying. Or if I want to be on Instagram and listen to music I can’t really do that like how I want to because it’s going to pause my music or play instagrams music over it. Another thing is sometimes if I wanna play music it was pause it when I leave the app then I will have the swipe up on my phone and hurry and play the music. If I don’t hurry and do it then it will disappear from the top of my screen. It also disappears when you don’t play it and leave the app for more than 10 seconds. Another thing is you guys don’t have all the audios for music. It’s a little annoying to want to play a song and hear the whole music video or a different song. And there aren’t many options for that so it’s either you have the song normally or you have to listen to the music video which is kind of annoying because for example “remember the time” by Michael Jackson, the music video is 9 minutes long and I do not want to hear the music video. Or I don’t want interruptions in the middle of my song from the video. But other than those things I like this app. I think there’s things to be worked on but it’s really good for what it is. Most people make you pay subscriptions just to listen to the music with your phone off (YOUTUBE MUSIC) or just to listen ad free so I appreciate that. I love my music and I think all music should be free lol @U_U.II And the app does go really slow which is very annoying(I wanted to add that) ### 5/5 — A very good app *2025-04-04* Thank you developers for creating such a good app. Theres no problem in adding adds to the app but it irritates when they are playing between the songs disturbing the mood.
