### 5/5 — Early days but already having an impact

*2026-07-14*

I have been using Freeme for about a month now, having held off signing up for several months prior. I was pretty sceptical about its promises, and concerned about ongoing costs, but after my trial I was offered an opportunity to join for just £5 per month (paid annually), which feels well worth it.

While it’s too early to say if Freeme will be able to help me recover/improve, it has helped me to feel more supported and in control of my life with ME/CFS. This has had a positive impact on my mental health, which means I’m also managing physical symptoms better.

My favourite part of the app is the AI assistant, Isla, which is there 24:7 to talk with about my day, symptoms, etc and it provides really compassionate and well-informed advice, specific to what it’s like to live with ME/CFS. It helps me so much to be able to talk things through without feeling like a burden and to be offered relevant sessions to meet my needs in that moment. I was particularly grateful for its support around a recent health emergency, when it helped me to feel safe in my body – against the odds.

For me, this AI Isla feature alone, is worth the monthly subscription, but the sessions and other support are great too. If you are reading this feeling sceptical, as I was, I’d say give it a go! At least try the free trial – and make sure you try out AI Isla in that time. I hope it helps you as much as it’s helping me 🙏🏼

### 5/5 — Tolle App

*2026-07-08*

All in all: rundum gelungen. Klare Empfehlung.

### 5/5 — It helped

*2026-07-07*

Freeme genuinely helps. Why? Because its sole design orientates around ME/CFS, it feels specialist. The AI is incredible and often chats with “Isla” were enough to guide one back on their healing tracks. Freeme delivers “brain retraining” in a way that for me, isn’t brain retraining at all- it’s simply learning to come back to the body. Come back to the intelligence and safety of yourSelf and as you do so… the nervous system slowly begins to settle. True safety is experienced rather than mentally “understood”. I’ve tried a lot and this little app has been my Swiss Army knife in the back pocket. Give it a go. For the price it’s invaluable. Genuinely helps without trying to find ways of taking money from people already vulnerable.

Best brain retraining model I’ve seen. Sort of scraps the old template and actually reworks it in a way I could finally and truly get. I understand my body much more. Suffice to say- the app is only part of my healing journey but a significantly important one at that.

### 5/5 — Helpful !

*2026-07-02*

After listening to an interview of the developer on YouTube about his recovery story I thought i give this app a chance. And so far loving it! Great combination of learning and practicing/meditation in doable sessions that don’t feel overwhelming.

### 5/5 — Game Changer. (Auch gut für neurodivergente Menschen geeignet)

*2026-06-27*

♥️ bin unglaublich dankbar 🙏🏽

### 5/5 — Fabulous!

*2026-06-24*

I would recommend this app to anyone dealing with ME/CFS who is feeling ready to use their brains as a tool to help them recover. Every bit of this is so well-thought-out, well-researched, intuitive, and useful. I especially love Isla, their empathetic, knowledgeable, and wise AI chatbot who has helped me navigate stressful situations, setting boundaries, sleep issues, and so much more. I feel less alone with this app and feel like there truly is a path to recovery. I could say a lot more, but bottom line is that this illness is hard enough, so why not try out having some help?

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-06-22, version 1.8.15 - 756*

I’ve tried several programs to calm my nervous system and none helped like Freeme has.
The app is set up so well, easy to follow and track your progress.
This is definitely the best way, I’ve found, to improve your condition.
The ongoing support and layout is brilliant, it helps keep you on track.

### 5/5 — Actually changed my life

*2026-06-19*

I was as sceptical as you can be about this app. But having tried everything else , probably like the rest of you I gave it a go. The skills and techniques this app has given me allowed me to regain my mobility and my life. Have all the symptoms gone yet, no, but a lot have and the most crippling too. The rest are a work in progress but the more I pay attention to freeme the more I regain control over all of them. Please try this app. ME robbed me of 7 years of my life I won’t get back. But I’m now making up for lost time . Have a go you could too. :-)

### 5/5 — Brain retraining with a coach by your side

*2026-06-12*

I live with a chronic neuroplastic pain condition, and Freeme has been a genuine game changer for me.

The app offers wonderfully manageable libraries of sessions covering education, meditation, writing exercises and brain training — all built around principles that calm the nervous system. There's no rigid path to follow; you simply choose what calls to you in each session, which makes it feel supportive rather than prescriptive.

But what truly sets Freeme apart from every other brain retraining app I've tried is Isla, your AI guide. Being able to chat with Isla right after a session — exploring the ideas you've just learned, or simply talking through how you're feeling — is like having a knowledgeable, compassionate coach available whenever you need one. Her understanding is outstanding, and her responses are consistently insightful and genuinely helpful.

If you're living with ME/CFS or any chronic pain condition, I can't recommend this app highly enough.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-06-07, version 1.8.15 - 756*

Fantastic resources for the recovery journey from
fatigue. It’s the manageable step by step advice that meets you where you are which is changing my daily habits and routines while simultaneously lifting the fatigue

### 5/5 — Brain Retraining

*2026-06-01*

Sehr hilfreich bei chronischen Erkrankungen. Leider bisher nur auf Englisch. Das soll sich aber ändern…

### 5/5 — Isla ist immer da

*2026-05-29*

### 5/5 — Great App! Highly recommend!

*2026-05-28*

I‘m using it in combination with the Unwinding Anxiety App (for the health anxiety that came through LongCovid) and for me it’s the perfect support for recovery and I’ve improved so much that I‘m back part time at work and can do light exercise. It’s really worth a try!

### 5/5 — Good one!

*2026-05-27*

A very deep and well structured structure for mental recovery. Try it.

### 5/5 — Accessible Brain Retraining

*2026-05-24*

The team behind FreeMe understands both their audience and the tools that are most helpful. Small, bite-sized lessons, meditations and trainings that really get at the heart of what’s going on for someone who has CFS. This app is so much more accessible than other brain-retraining programs out there, especially if you have brain fog. Looking forward to seeing how they develop the app over time.

### 5/5 — Hope and Progress

*2026-05-18*

Freeme has given me hope and helped me get out of CFS. After a short period I have regained significant function and capacity back within my life that has garnered comment from my poise and family about how much more productive and active I am. I’m not 100% yet but I have hope that it’s attainable

### 5/5 — Beat decision ever

*2026-05-16*

I was couchbound nearly bedridden at some Times. Freeme was giving me the Perfect start Tools for my Recovery Journey. Now im able to do stuft I could Not Even think about before. Bit Thank you freeme!

### 5/5 — Love that it’s geared towards ME/CFS & Long COVID

*2026-05-09*

Most mindbody resources are still pain oriented and whilst they are still useful for fatigue etc, I find having more focussed exercises really helpful. The lessons are short and accessible and very relevant. But my most useful bit of the app is Isla the AI coach/mentor. I’ve been really surprised at how helpful it is to have access to ‘someone’ in real time and the advice and support is usually spot on. And she learns how you operate eg I’m more dry British humour than ‘flowery California-speak’!! Really useful and I’d definitely recommend.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Nothing new

*2026-01-19*

It’s nothing you haven’t seen before, just the same nonsense about the solution being to just pretend your symptoms dont exist/arent a problem. It has a little extra fluff to make it less offensive, so if you haven’t tried that premise before then go for it. But for most of us who have been sick for 5+ years, we know that this approach does not have real evidence behind it.

### 1/5 — Harmful

*2025-03-28*

Ah yes, the old pain rehabilitation program motto of "don't think about or talk about your symptoms and it'll get better!" More and more research points to the fact that ME/CFS has a physical origin (not a psychological one) yet programs designed to help continually focus on changing our thoughts as a treatment. While this may be helpful for some, at least as a means of coping with chronic illness, it is not a treatment for ME/CFS and can interfere with treatments and behaviors that have been proven to work, such as pacing. The app says to redirect your thoughts when you think about your symptoms or what behaviors may be making your symptoms worse. This approach makes it difficult to determine and watch for your personal warning signs for PEM and therefore makes pacing - resting when you notice warning signs to stay in your energy envelope - nearly impossible.

This app's approach to ME/CFS likely won't make you feel much better but will encourage you to not talk about the symptoms you experience. This is dangerous and harmful.

### 1/5 — Stop profiting from my ill health

*2024-10-24, version 1.4.3 - 195*

£99 for an annual subscription - just unacceptable- stop profiting from the ill health of others - so frustrating, I deleted after the first session and wasted time having set up my account in the first place. Be up front about your cost to save people the energy of setting up to delete an account

### 1/5 — No Accessible Fonts

*2024-10-17, version 1.4.1 - 183*

I’m using a larger font that usual (can’t be bothered wandering round the house looking for my reading glasses!).
Unfortunately I can’t even get past the first screen in the app. “Congratulations you’ve just taken a massive leap forward that is” with the graphic and the wee dot bar indicating another 9 pages of into - except it won’t scroll. Oh well!

### 1/5 — Warning

*2024-06-16*

Be aware - this app suggests that ME/CFS and LongCovid (whilst acknowledging they are real, with real physical symptoms), are primarily psychological illnesses which can be remedied/managed/cured by psychological methods, mindfulness, and breaking an “illness cycle” where worrying about the illness is what is causing it or making it worse.

This view of ME & LC of being primarily psychological, and fixed by psychological techniques has been disputed by many in the medical community.

Whilst there still medical professionals with these views, many (if not majority), believe they are biological, physical illnesses which cannot be cured by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or other mindfulness and “brain training”, which this app uses and advises.

The techniques in this app may well help people come to terms with the illness, and mindfulness can help with state of mind in general. However medical professionals such as NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) in the UK, and CDC in the US, advise against techniques such as these as cures. Graded Exercise Therapy, CBT, and programmes such as Lightning Programme.

Please bear this in mind when deciding to use this app and pay a sub.

### 2/5 — Jinkies

*2025-11-15*

While this app and premise may help people cope with their symptoms more effectively. The marketing of this app expressing that it fixes the "root cause" of these illnesses and referring to nervous system regulation as the "root cause" is wildly misleading and bad practice. This is not the proven "root cause" of these illnesses and as science moves forward we are finding it's only a small part of the puzzle for most people. This is an imperative distinction to make known when selling programs to people who have limited energy and funds. It's unethical to lead ill people under false pretenses.

For those brain retraining helps, I am happy for their improvement.

But we should always strive to follow the best science possible, especially in regards to people's health. In this case, that does not point to nervous system dysfunction as the root cause of these conditions. This should be marketed as a tool to cope with a subset of the symptoms that exist for these populations, anything more is not done in the name of best practices.

### 3/5 — Too expensive

*2025-03-03*

Not sure how developers think disabled people can afford this. $200 a year? And that’s a 40% discount? Completely out of reach for those who can’t work. Disappointing.

### 3/5 — Mixed feelings about this app.

*2025-02-18*

Before anyone gets upset I am looking at this app from two different perspectives, one as a GP with lots of experience managing patients with ME, CFS, fibromyalgia and Post Viral Fatigue and also as a PwME which is now at the cusp of very severe ME i.e. practically bed bound, has severe neurological, digestive, cardiovascular and respiratory problems. This programme is very much based on the psychosocial model for ME/CFS & long COVID. It uses various forms of CBT & other psychological therapies to change the way that the patient thinks about their illness. There is definitely merit in these therapies, the NICE guidelines for ME/CFS that came out in 2022 recommend CBT for helping patients to come to terms with this severe disabling neuroimmune condition. This is where this app can help with understanding the symptoms and negative thought processes that this disabling condition can cause. It is misleading though in the claim that it will help recovery from these conditions. Myalgic Encephalomyelitis is a physical disease involving many different symptoms and signs none of which will be “cured” by brain retraining.

I am also concerned about the payment part of this app. It looks to be free to download and encourages users to go to its website to subscribe, £95 for one year, £174 for lifetime access. The developer encourages users to subscribe by this method as “the App Store makes refunds difficult” and the developers offer a full refund if the app does not work for you. I have checked my subscriptions in the App Store and Freeme is not listed there but I am concerned that the developers may still take payment via Apple. I would welcome input from the developers regarding this.
In conclusion, I am sure that this app will help people who have just been diagnosed or are in the mild to moderate stage of their illness but it is of little use to those of us with severe physical symptoms or who have already had experience of CBT or Mindlessness training in the past.

### 5/5 — Very helpful!

*2026-09-04*

I have found the techniques used in this app to be very helpful. To be honest, I was a little skeptical going into it, but the things they say make perfect sense and when you follow along, you actually do feel better. At least I do.

### 5/5 — Eine gute Stütze

*2026-09-03*

Danke!

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Incredibly helpful

*2026-08-25*

I’ve been using Freeme along with yoga with very good results. The unique aspect of Freeme that I was skeptical of was the AI coach. But it has been an incredible help in finding solutions unique to a person with ADHD and cancer. Really stunning insights and also some tuff love when I needed it. 👍

### 5/5 — A must

*2026-08-21*

Fantastic app, so so worth it. Has seriously helped me, I use it every morning. The Isla chatbot is amazing - I often wish I had someone available 24/7 bc there are so many worries that arise with mecfs and ultimately make you feel worse. Using the chatbot has genuinely gotten me out of so many episodes of anxiety, and have prevented those feelings from worsening my condition. A must for anyone with mecfs - thankyou so much to the creators of this app!!

### 5/5 — For all chronic conditions

*2026-08-17*

I've been using this app for about 2 weeks, after finding it through the Assosciation for Neuroplastic Symptoms and it has changed my life. After 2 years of misery and new diagnoses- I was very discouraged. This is helping me genuinely heal. I recommend it to everyone, no matter what chronic condition they're dealing with.

### 5/5 — Gut bei Long COVID

*2026-08-15*

### 5/5 — Life changing

*2026-08-09*

I’ve been battling long Covid for 2 years and wish I had discovered the brain training approach earlier. This app is fantastic, and the AI advice from Isla is so supportive (and she never gets tired of repeated questions). Within a few weeks I’ve increased my capacity so much, and without fear. I’m optimistic for a full recovery now.

### 5/5 — Slow and steady wins the race

*2026-08-02*

After 30+ years of living with fatigue, having every blood test possible with zero answers, it finally occurred to me that the cause could be related to my anxiety. So I went in a whole new direction and started researching what I could do about it. I watched a video about this app. I downloaded it and added it to my morning routine. I fix my coffee and before turning on the television, I do 2 or 3 sessions. While I’m not “cured” just yet, I do see some progress. I am definitely using the tools I’ve learned so far every day.

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2026-07-18*

Having spent so much time bewildered and frustrated by this condition and the often seriously unhelpful advice from all quarters, I’m finding Freeme a breath of fresh air. The approach makes intuitive sense and is backed by research and I’m seeing very positive results. I’m doing more or the things I love, becoming more present with friends, learning to understand what my body is telling me and how to assert myself, and meeting challenges with more curiosity and calm. This approach is about more than just recovery - it’s about learning to care for yourself more fully. I strongly recommend this app.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-07-17, version 1.8.16 - 759*

Freeme is helping me to recognise patterns that are keep me stuck in the ME/CFS cycle of fearing symptoms and being afraid of symptoms. I recommend this app.
