It ruins the story and pulls me out of it. What’s the point of the journal aspect of the app if the storyline just does whatever it wants? I’ve noticed the journal section starts off very detailed and then over time starts to summarize and summarize and summarize. I think this is what’s really screwing up the continuity of the stories. I also wish that the character descriptions didn’t have a character limit, it’s quite literally, limiting! I really hope these issues get resolved, this app has a lot of potential! ### 2/5 — I’m annoyed.🫩 *2026-09-06* I downloaded freeroam a few months ago and i loved it. i could use it whenever. but ever since the new update where it puts a daily limit it’s been unplayable for me. it always cuts off the story when it gets the most interesting and it really pisses me off. I’ve looked into the plans and i just don’t see myself buying one when i could just go for another app similar to freeroam. Speaking of which i’ve barely even been using freeroam since the update and i have switched to other apps with no limits. I think instead of putting the limits and making us pay for more time you should just add ads. I would definitely prefer if i got an ad in the middle of a good part rather than a cut off. Especially since mine doesn’t give me more until 4AM!!!!! I think freeroam would get many more people to use it if they just removed the limit and put ads instead. ### 3/5 — Image Generation *2026-08-29* I really enjoy this app, even after the addition of Lumens (which have actually helped me keep a handle on my screen time) but I would like to ask if you could add a setting to manage the frequency of automatic image generations. My newest world generates a new image for almost every page, and that's just way too much. My focus is more on story quality than images, and in some of my worlds the images don't match the characters at all, so I'd really prefer it if I could dictate when new images are generated. This only started happening after I paid for a lumen subscription, so it feels like my money is being wasted on something I don't care much about. I'd love a setting that could make it so new images are generated only when I request it within the world. This seems like it would save everyone a lot of money, anyway. I don't mind that image generation costs lumens, I just mind that image generation is forced so frequently. ### 2/5 — please remove. sigh. *2026-08-25* i loved freeroam when i first installed it, and read many stories. i would read thousand of pages a day. when i read my first frontier world story, i was thrown off by the limit but it didn’t bother me that much. today, when i went on freeroam to read my normal story, i was COMPLETELY thrown off. i saw a limit. on a story that’s not a frontier story. dude. i instantly got irritated. why?? 10 lumens a day is genuinely not enough. how could people go from read thousands of pages a day WITH different stories to only 600 pages a day with ALL stories?? not only that, but you have to PAY to read more?? i’m sorry, but no. PLEASE keep the lumens on the frontier worlds, and not the normal worlds. this is how you genuinely lose readers. you’re telling me that i can continue my 50k page story because of a limit?? freeroam, if you see this, we’re all begging. please keep the limit on the frontier worlds. you’re loosing readers because of this lumen limits. it breaks my heart, and 600 pages are genuinely not enough. i’m sorry. if you’re gonna have lumens, make the limit worth it. if the page limit was higher, like maybe 6k-10k pages a day, trust me, no one will complain. i love the stories on freeroam, but the limit throws me off. please remove it or increase the page limit. please, and thank you. ### 3/5 — Nice *2026-08-22, version 1.29* I don’t like the time limit but it’s cool I guess ### 2/5 — TAKE OFF LUMENS *2026-08-21, version 1.29* I hate lumens. PLEASEEEE REPLACE THEM WITH ADS! ### 3/5 — lumens *2026-08-18, version 1.29* Ive been using this app for a while and its been fun but adding the lumens was stupid. i personally think that if your gonna add the lumens atleast make the wait time and hour of two not till 4am the next day? ### 3/5 — Used to be 5 stars.. *2026-08-17, version 1.29* Used this app even before it was an app and was in love with it but adding lumens and subscriptions made it unbearable. It is also difficult to create a story when it used to take 5 minutes top. ### 2/5 — Addition of Lumens *2026-08-15, version 1.29* The recent update added Lumens to all stories which also caused a timeline as well. You have to pay for Lumen and there is no unlimited option. You were a free app and is now that you’ve got the amount of audience you want, now you decide to charge people. You guys should be shame but we all know you aren’t. ### 3/5 — Lumens? *2026-08-14* I love the app, don’t get me wrong, it has helped me through a lot and given me a lot more artistic liberty then other apps have. However, the new update involving Lumens has caused me a lot more issues. Especially because I had an issue with disassociative daydreaming—this app helped me get those ideas out of my head and find other’s who had such brilliant ideas that I fell in love with their stories and characters, and so being able to access the stories as I needed was great. But the Lumens have greatly hindered that ability for me—I was upset with the Regeneration Limit, but that was something I was willing to work around, the Lumens are proving to be something I cannot work around and I feel horrible being unable to adapt to it, but it has truly ruined some of the experience of this app for me. Even though I knew something like this was bound to happen because of the economy of the world I am still heartbroken that it did and how suddenly it seemed to occur, and the prices for Lumen subscriptions. I feel like it would have been more profitable to keep a Lumen limit on the Frontier worlds, as those were just as if not more popular than regular worlds. Additionally, another thing—not that I really know much about all the coding mechanisms and everything involved—they could try is to create a separate application for the more advanced things they want to add, like the frontier worlds, to try and reduce cost for what the original application had been. ### 2/5 — Devastated *2026-08-11* Okay. I know that talking to AI isn’t great, but what I loved about Freeroam (I’ve been using this for months) was how it felt less like me talking to fake people and more like I was able to create stories. There are a lot of pros to this app, and I thought the idea of the Frontier worlds were cool (unnecessary, but still something new that I’ve never seen before); HOWEVER, even though I understand that this stuff probably uses a lot of energy to make, it is devastating having a new paywall. I loved Freeroam because it had no paywall. It was something new and interesting and exciting and FREE— and now it’s just like every other “chatbot” app [though, keep in mind that I can at least respect Freeroam’s paywall vs other chatbots that don’t offer as much of an experience] I do understand the want to add more things to a growing app (as I’m sure it’s getting more popular and the demand for generation is higher), but it is devastating as a long term user to know how good it used to be, while also knowing it will never be like that again. Does the platform itself deserve 1 star? No. The low star rating is directed to the paywall. ### 2/5 — Hate the new update *2026-08-10* The new update ruined the whole thing. Gotta wait till 4am to use the app is crazy. Plus the phone updates and stuff it should be an option if we want the read mode to be frontier phone or normal.I’m just gonna delete it. Other apps don’t make you wait hours to play. ### 2/5 — Lumens Update *2026-08-10* As someone who was on this app long before it blew up on tiktok I am so disappointed that it turned into a paid sub app. The stories are great and everything in it. I have no problems with. It's the Lumens. You get 10 lumens standard per day which they say is equivalent to 500-700 pages but when some pages have 1-2 words I feel like it runs out in 10 minutes and you have to wait a full 24 hours for them to rest. Then you have the Lumen tiers which are highly over priced. I understood the 2 hour limit on frontier worlds that seemed fair, however if they introduced a reset on lumens like you get a lumen every hour or if you were allowed to carry over unused lumens or daily check in for lumens. To recap. App and stories are 10/10. This app was good before the lumens, before some of the updates. It’s also just really buggy and barely works now. There will always be ups and downs but they move beyond expectations with how fast they work to fix bugs. Much love for the freeroam team 🩵🫶🏻 ### 5/5 — Amazing but not perfect *2026-08-20* As title suggests, this is an amazing app. The stories can be in depth and wonderful to interact with and full to the brim with whatever you’re looking for in a story, however, the App is still being worked on and developed, which can cause issues but the devs are absolutely wonderful. They take advice from the community and work tirelessly almost every day to work on bugs that pop up, this is one of the few apps that I actually wanna see grow and be supportive of and would definitely recommend it to anybody who doesn’t mind AI🫶 ### 5/5 — Love this app *2026-08-16, version 1.29* I love this app! If you want to create a world or story, it’s easy to do. Came from a ton of friend recommendations and was pleasantly surprised by the memory quality (compared to other apps) , the range of interactivity , and the quality of the community.
