I have no idea, but that’s what Freesat have done. For reasons I cannot begin to understand, the once useful facility to set recordings through the app was taken away. However compared to my old recorders they had thumbnails like on my old sky box and hdd recorders. One even had folders you could label. Odd in this day and age not to have thumbnails in the recordings Remote app would be good as with my other recorders Bbc All of my previous recorders had a recordings button to take you straight recordings. I cannot believe the designers thought it would be good to need several button presses to get to recordings! The remote is poorly laid out I am forever pressing back instead of rewind and exit instead of forwards. The cursor buttons uncomfortable to use with the clicks. In July 2025 I discovered that I could no longer record programming remotely. Freesat gave no notice of this retrograde step, in fact their app confirmed that recordings were taking place. Yesterday I bought a replacement box (different manufacturer from Humax) which said, on the label, “record remotely with an internet-enabled device”. This was untrue. This appears to be a breach of the Consumer Protection Act 2015. I will be taking further action. ### 1/5 — Hopeless *2025-12-01, version 4.9.1* Doesn’t do what it said on the tin. It is simply a program guide to remind you of what you are missing while you are out. They've recently fixed the buggy OS in the box itself so hopefully there's a movement to restoring what was once a competitor to Sky. We then used it when in our holiday home. We now have 2 TVs in our home running off Free Sat. It’s absolutely brilliant. ### 5/5 — Could be a very good app *2023-02-04* The app could be brilliant but keeps freezing on viewing what’s on telly you have to keep closing app wait a while then pop back in and works for about 30sec and then keeps crashing and freezing which is a shame as layout is real nice with really good features but it’s so so annoying when it keeps crashing and freezing I thought it was my phone so tried other apps Freesat..and no problem just this one so tells me my phone is just fine please try and fix app mr/miss developer as it could be a bloody brilliant app if it didn’t have theses issues I’d would of been quite happy to pay for an app like this for a premium version .. but as it stands it need a complete upgrade and make over I’m sorry to say great pity.. ### 4/5 — Good listings app *2026-07-13, version 4.9.2* Unlike the previous iteration, this version of the app is just a programme guide.
