## What is Freethe?

Freethe catches the sound that just happened and holds it — stretching a fleeting moment into a living, evolving drone. Make a sound, tap the canvas, and it freezes into a sustained texture you can shape with your fingers.

Inspired by the classic freeze pedal and rebuilt as a modern granular instrument, Freethe gives every frozen "grab" its own place on a pan/volume canvas and its own character:

• Cloud — overlapping grains scatter the capture into a soft, shifting haze.
• Loop — a seamless read head holds a clean, steady sustain.
• Spectral — additive resynthesis turns the moment into a shimmering, tuned pad.

Grab as many sounds as you like, drag them around the stereo field, and layer them into slowly breathing soundscapes. A live scope traces the incoming signal behind the canvas, so you can feel the sound before you freeze it.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-18

The AUv3 plugin has been rebuilt. Choose between a Pad view, where each window is a disc you drag to set pan and volume and tap to hold, and a Sliders view with every parameter laid out. The plugin now resizes with its window at any size, text is clearer and higher contrast in every host, and each window's volume is always on screen for live playing.

All three plugin windows now play in the free version, matching the app. The plugin also gains the app's pan and loop start/length controls.

Spectral windows are no longer far louder than Cloud and Loop — every window now sustains at the level of the sound you grabbed.
