Freewill Auto is the driving app built around a simple idea: your driving score belongs to you. With Freewill Auto, you can track your trips, understand how you drive, and follow your F.R.E.E. Score (Fair Risk Evaluation Engine) over time. Unlike scores collected quietly in the background by insurers, your F.R.E.E. Score is visible to you, controlled by you, and shared only if you choose to share it. Your F.R.E.E. Score is calculated on a 1,000-point scale, similar to a credit score, but based on something you can actively improve every time you drive. How your score works: Driving behavior (70%) • Speed vs. posted limits (40%) • Smoothness of acceleration and braking (15%) • Cornering control (15%) Driving conditions (30%) • Road complexity, including road type, traffic, intersections, and urban density (15%) • Weather and visibility, including rain, snow, fog, darkness, and low visibility (15%) Each trip contributes to your cumulative F.R.E.E. Fixes • Trips lost with no coverage — when the phone restarted in an area with no network, background recording never resumed. It now restarts correctly, with or without a connection. • Frozen launch screen — the app could stay stuck on the loading screen when no connection was available. • Speed and cornering accuracy — erratic speed spikes reported by the GPS chip are now filtered out, and the detail of your turns is available in each trip. • Battery saver — the app now warns you when your phone's low-power mode is degrading trip recording. Data is now sent as soon as the network returns. • Trip that never ends — the app could stay in recording mode after a trip had already been closed. It now stays in sync. • Distance accuracy — erratic position jumps reported by the GPS chip are no longer counted toward distance driven. • Help menu — assistance sections now appear only for plans that include them. Tap a point for the detail. • More reliable vehicle setup — Your VIN is validated as you type, misread characters are caught immediately, and more models are recognized. No more dead ends at the last step. • Trip duration fixed — Some trips showed a duration of 00:00, or an end time identical to the start time. A trip's start is now derived from the first real GPS point. • More accurate trip streaks — The streak-ended message showed your all-time record instead of the streak that had just ended, and reappeared on every trip below the threshold. Fixed. • Clearer auto-capture state — When automatic detection is paused it's now impossible to miss, and the app explains what that means before you turn it off. • A score that reflects your driving — GPS artifacts and faulty sensor readings are better filtered out of braking, acceleration, cornering and speed.
