### 5/5 — Awesome App!

*2025-05-15, version 1.7.0*

Love this app! I wish it was used in more cities-hopefully that’s the goal!

### 5/5 — Free stuff! Better than social media.

*2025-04-22, version 1.7.0*

Easy to use. Low tech. Nobody stealing your data or attention. What’s not to like?

### 5/5 — So easy

*2025-04-14, version 1.7.0*

You know how if you put things on Facebook free, you get a million “is this still available” messages? Freeya completely eliminates that! It’s sooo easy and straightforward.

### 5/5 — Love the way this works

*2025-04-11*

I love that you can reserve something on the app and know that it will be there when you go to pick it up. I also have given away lots of stuff on Freya and Love that only one person that reserves to pick up the item will see your address. I like I like the privacy. Also, it’s secretly satisfying when you get rid of something you have no use for and then get a nice note from somebody who needed sometimes that’s what I need to motivate myself to declutter!

### 5/5 — Works!

*2025-01-23, version 1.6.1*

Very Easy to use. Less coordination and flaking out than with Buy Nothing groups.

### 5/5 — I like this app

*2024-12-22, version 1.6.1*

I’ve been using the app for a few years now, and it gets better all the time.

### 5/5 — Love Freeya!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2024-10-03, version 1.6.1*

Freeya makes it so easy to pass along items I no longer need to someone else. Very friendly app. No glitches. I’m so happy to have found it.

### 5/5 — great app to get rid of / get things for free

*2024-09-20, version 1.6.1*

i love that you can "pick up pending" and just set things outside. wonderful app in a fast fashion world. STOP BUYING THINGS

### 5/5 — Turn waste into treasure APP.

*2024-08-30, version 1.6.1*

Simple release, easy to take goods, fast aging, very convenient and practical APP.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2024-08-15, version 1.6.1*

This app is super easy to use and I am happy to give away useful things and keep them out of landfills!

### 5/5 — So easy!

*2024-07-08, version 1.6.1*

I love this! It makes declutterring soooo easy. I love the different pickup options.
Easy to navigate, great layout!

### 5/5 — Easy Peasy

*2024-07-07*

This app made it simple to declutter. I was able to share 3 portable air conditioners that were not going to be used to three lucky households. Nice to give away big items without leaving my house.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2024-06-10, version 1.6.1*

Well designed and functional, Freeya is a fantastic way to find people who would love to take the things you no longer need. I wish that there were more listings to choose from.

### 5/5 — Haven’t actually used it yet so…

*2024-06-05*

The look of the app is promising. But I’m rating this because I’ve had such good experiences with the developer’s company, Chipdrop. May God bless this Freeya thing like He has blessed me through Chipdrop. This looks SOOO much more user friendly than Craigslist or the like. Let’s go, Tennessee, jump on this train!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — craigslist, facebook, offerup are better

*2026-05-09, version 1.9.3*

I decide when my address gets released - not you. Nothing gives you the right to violate my privacy that way.

### 1/5 — Doesn't support my phone any more

*2025-05-26, version 1.6.1*

I used to love listing stuff on this app. But today I opened it up to a cutesy little warning about an update. Here in the app store I see that the app now requires a later version of iOS than my phone supports. So I guess that's it for me. Thanks Freeya, it was fun while it lasted. I hope you make good use of all those iOS 17 specific features that the app now apparently requires.

### 1/5 — What’s the point if they can cancel your pickup???

*2024-04-21*

Not sure I understand why this even exists when there are options like Buy Nothing etc.

It said I had 48hrs to pickup the item. Nobody contacted me, then literally as I’m taking out the car seats and adjusting the cargo area fortunately I was at least informed my pickup was “cancelled”. Also the item was apparently in a “free pile”. Who knows if it would’ve still been there when I arrived! If you’re offering an item to someone it should be guaranteed available!

1/5 Stars

### 1/5 — Gives out phone number to other users

*2023-06-03*

I used Freeya to list a few items for sale and upon getting a pickup request, the person TEXTED my personal phone number instead of using the in-app messaging system. I never gave permission to give out my cell phone number to other users, and honestly it seems like a huge security issue and completely unnecessary.

I emailed support a week ago and never got a response. If you like your phone number floating out to strangers then this is the app for you. If not, I would avoid until they address and fix it.

### 1/5 — If not available near me, why push it?

*2023-04-11, version 1.2.0*

I have no idea why this app was pushed as something to join when it isn’t available anywhere near me. I broadened my search parameters from Virginia to Toronto, and still nothing came up. Stop marketing in territories you don’t serve.

### 2/5 — Improvement Needed to Save Gas & Time

*2025-05-19*

In theory, Freeya is a great concept and started out strong. Added “features” -like membership so can claim pick up on multiple items, scheduling ahead & no guidelines for listers lean toward epic fail. Too many instances in which you either can’t put “pick up” but the person does NOT actually pick up, driving (using petrol) only to find it’s not there & dealing with posters that feel awful because someone else grabbed the item reserved is awkward & wastes time, energy & gas.
Better explanation of process & respect for people’s time, energy & desire to keep things out of a landfill needs some tweaking to make sure people aren’t waiting in vain or wasting gas & time.

**Developer response:** About 4% of our pickups are currently reported that the item is not available when the person shows up to pick it up. We're working hard to improve this metric! We always encourage folks to stay local and not drive too far for items, as there is always an inherent possibility that the free item will not be there when you get there, even though it's rare.

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2024-11-25*

Too restrictive to try and communicate. Only approximate location given initially. You can only unlock chat with seller after a time slot is submitted and accepted by seller to come get the item(s). Only then can you request exact location. If the seller rejects your suggested time, then you have to resubmit a time slot and try again. An item I inquired about the seller rejected the time but replied in a message a time that works for them but since they didn’t properly accept time slot in the app I can’t message them to get the actual address!

### 2/5 — Great concept, but expect disappointment & censorship

*2024-10-02*

It’s been a great site to allow folks to pick up unwanted items however expect on MULTIPLE occasions that you mark an item for pick up & that the item is not there when you arrive—which is a regular occurrence. If the concept is to save the environment—paying for gas & taking the time to pick up reserved items for them not to be there is in straight contrast to that concept. If you try to remedy by posting as someone may have accidentally picked up, you’ll get censored.

### 2/5 — Dead app

*2023-09-16, version 1.3.3*

Only a single listing on offer for 100mi!

App will only take street address and not zip code for simply window shopping. Don’t really care for handing over my data just to have a look. My zip code should be more than enough for a rough location estimate to see what kinds of things people list.

The only listing was for baby food. I can’t think of anything worse that people should not get for free from strangers than baby food.

### 2/5 — Clueless community

*2023-01-11, version 1.0.16*

I listed an IKEA table. Got endless questions from people asking if it is still available (the listing would be gone if it wasn’t) or when I’m available for pickup (scheduling a pickup is supposed to sort this out). I’ll stick to giving away stuff on CL and Nextdoor.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2026-07-28, version 1.9.4*

I’ve given away so many cool things and it’s so easy!

### 5/5 — Better than DIY posting

*2026-06-03, version 1.9.3*

So far so good! This is great and saves a ton of time arranging pickups, no shows, etc. and setting up an account with the app was no more onerous than any typical set up/account creation.

### 5/5 — What a Service!

*2026-04-27*

I almost hesitate to write this but:
I have to move soon, and this app has been a lifesaver. I found a bunch of useful things. I’ve met cool people. Right now I am in a phase of having to rely on others, generosity, but I am looking forward to the day where I can post things for people to pick up.

And I would recommend if you like this app and what it represents read the serviceberry by Robin wall Kimmer.

### 5/5 — Wow.

*2026-02-19*

My daughter told me about this app and at first I had trouble connecting with their server. Once I got it loaded, I posted 6 items in the morning and they were all claimed within the hour and picked up by the evening.

### 5/5 — Makes giving things away easy!!

*2025-12-31*

The app makes it really simple to post items and takes all the coordination overhead out of the process! It’s been a huge help for decluttering my space :)

### 5/5 — Perfect!!!

*2025-12-28, version 1.8.0*

I love Freeya!! Extremely easy to use and benefits everyone involved. 10/10!

### 5/5 — More people should use this!

*2025-07-29*

Well designed pick up system for a variety of situations - have had no problems with pick ups!

### 5/5 — Great experience

*2025-06-16*

Awesome alternative to Goodwill or Facebook Marketplace for items you no longer need in your life! Scheduled pick-ups make it so easy to pass an item along to a new home. App is intuitive and reliable.

### 5/5 — Need a way to block people.

*2025-05-19*

Love the app and the way it works. The only thing it needs is a way to block people. I’ve had three items listed and each time the same person requests a pickup and then never shows up, sometimes several times for the same item.

### 5/5 — Pay it forward again and again

*2025-05-18*

This makes it so easy to declutter and connect items with people. No chatting, just a pickup window and that’s it.
