## What is Freiraum Kids?

Screen time that fits your family. Set rules together with Freiraum Kids: children earn extra time through missions, while parents stay informed.

• Weekly schedules for school, free time and quiet hours
• One shared time account per child across multiple devices
• Organise apps and websites into groups
• Set group limits within zone time or give groups a separate budget
• Unlimited apps without using the zone budget; quiet hours and device locks still apply
• Request and approve extra time for a specific group
• Connect multiple parent and child devices
• Missions, rewards, trophies and saved time credit
• Understand usage, remaining time and blocking reasons
• Arrange, collapse or hide dashboard cards
• A personal family photo

The family connection uses Apple services and our own services hosted on Cloudflare. Screen Time features require the relevant iOS permissions on the child’s device. Website usage relies on iOS reports in Safari; reports may arrive with a delay.

Freiraum Kids Plus is an auto-renewing subscription. The price, term and any available trial are shown before purchase. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1 — 2026-10-07

• Smaller app: The introduction video now loads on demand directly in the app. The written explanation remains available offline.
• New Usage & budgets overview under Manage brings usage and collection budgets together.
• Area previews and rule checks help explain your settings.
• The YouTube app and website share a budget when a corresponding collection rule is configured.
• Improvements to synchronisation and time accounts.

### 2.0 — 2026-09-18

Freiraum Kids 2.0

• Group budgets: a share of zone time or a separate allowance.
• Safari website usage and group limits.
• Extra-time requests assigned to the requested group.
• Clearer usage, remaining time and blocking reasons.
• Collapsible, optional and reorderable group budgets.
• Improved sync across parent and child devices, including when time runs out.
• Updated background processing for smoother interaction.
• Locally saved family photo and a dark launch screen.
• New menus in all 13 app languages.

### 1.7 — 2026-09-08

Faster between parent and child
Requests, area changes, gifted time and receipts arrive noticeably sooner. The parent app pulls right after a push instead of waiting, fetches all children at once and writes less side data. A child’s requests reach parents even in Focus mode.

Savings without waiting
Bookings appear on the card immediately, in both directions. Minutes taken back can be used right away; both travel to the parents as one package and are released with a single confirmation. Quick back-and-forth nets itself out. The parents’ confirmation wakes the child instead of the child having to ask.

Parent app opens faster
The fresh status of the children shows up much earlier when opening.

Family pause now covers approved apps
An app approved from the lock screen is on hold during the pause and continues afterwards. Parents see on the child card which app is currently approved and until when.

### 1.6 — 2026-09-04

Time request from the lock screen
When time is up, “Ask for more time” now opens the same form as on the home screen: minutes, reason and offer, with the blocked app already filled in. One tap on the notification is enough.

Medals to show off
An earned medal can become the profile picture and can be shared as a decorative card, with the child’s name and Freiraum Kids on it.

Profile for kids
Photo, name, stage, medals and savings on one card. The worlds for the home screen sit side by side as previews to scroll through, “Simple” first.

iPhone and iPad count together
If a child uses two devices, they share the daily budget. One device can only take time away from the other, never give it back.

Less data
Pictures and app lists only travel when they change. Time updates still go out immediately. On mobile data the child checks in less often.

Fixed
• Gifted minutes did not arrive after time had run out
• Apps were briefly blocked although time was left
• Time tracking stopped after an approval
• On the parent side “Applying on iPhone” flickered without any change
• The savings goal jumped to an odd value, medals only count real deposits
• The support form accepts text wherever you tap into the field

### 1.5.1 — 2026-09-03

Lock Screen for parents
Two new widgets: one child's free time with zone and break, or up to three children side by side. Plus a Control Centre button that sends a short message: Time to eat, Please check in, Time to go, I'm picking you up, or your own sentence. To one child or to all of them.

Thirteen languages
New: Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Czech.

Compact children list
Every row now shows a status dot, the status text whenever something needs attention, a usage bar and two buttons: pending requests and send a message.

Preview
The banner no longer covers the toolbar, and the example family survives an app restart.

Fixed
• After leaving Freiraum completely, no new child profile could be created
• The "To do" card is gone, everything on it was already in the child rows below

Where the time went
A tap on the time ring in the Kids app flips it: instead of the number you get bubbles, one per app. The biggest bubble is the app that took the most time, the colour runs from hot to cool, and each bubble carries its minutes. Tap again and the number is back.

App usage is back for parents
The per-app breakdown had been hidden by mistake since July. It is back as its own tile that can be moved or hidden under "Arrange tiles".

Also
• The device picker now sits inside the location card instead of below it
• Matching headers across all tiles on the child page
