It did everything one could ask of it: translate in both directions, and well as help with grammatical gender. It was speedy as well. Since the last update several months back, it no longer gives gram. gender, and typing is SUPER slow, as in type the word and still watch as each letter slowly appears on the screen. But text to speech reveals the proper word without fail. The app is clearly retrieving translated definitions, I just can’t see them! Rather frustrating and not really usable. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work for me *2020-04-01* So did a simple test - wanted to find the English translation of “la chef” ( it means “the leader” or possible “the boss” or “the manager” - however I got no response from the app - ### 1/5 — Giant flag covers search box *2020-01-07* Just installed this & as another reviewer noted, there seems to be a glitch in this version, as most of the screen is filled with a giant flag and only the corner of the search box is showing. I tried to contact app technical support, rather than leave a bad review, but using “app support” and “developer website” links but it just takes me to a page promoting another French app with NO support functionality available. This leaves me no choice but to leave this bad review in the hope of getting the matter attended to. ### 3/5 — Recent glitch *2020-01-05* I’ve been using this French-English dictionary for several months but it has developed a glitch. The French & American flags are now so big that they block the space where you type the word you want to translate. Click here!" garbage, that was the last straw. Deleted the app, done, bye. ### 1/5 — Too simple *2025-06-30* This app is too simple to be useful. A simple translation is all it provides. It doesn’t even indicate if a word is masculine or feminine. No example sentences. It is not useful for language learning. ### 1/5 — WEAR YOUR ERRORS W PRIDE! *2025-06-28* Make sure you look at that first demo image with its big fat incorrect term. That is, they whiffed on the French not the English. 🤦 So I wouldn't trust them for anyone learning French. (Drinking water is l'eau potable. Even if you do a more literal translation, it is "l'eau de boire" not the other way around.) ### 1/5 — Review *2025-02-14* Out of 10 words I search I find around 3. I entered text in English to translate to French but nothing happened. Below was an ad for a translator app that apparently needs to be installed in order to use the original app?? What? When I went to open that app it lead to a paid subscription page. No thank you. Disappointing! ### 1/5 — Extremely slow *2024-02-14* Typing anything in the search bar takes ages. There’s no reason at all why it should have such a long response time. It’s super concerning. ### 1/5 — Translated text is white on white *2023-12-08* There doesn’t appear to be a setting to change how translated text appears. Right now, you have to highlight it for it to show up as it’s white text against a white background (invisible). Can’t really speak to the quality of translations or the dictionary itself yet. Really hope they fix this. ### 1/5 — Useless *2023-09-05* I have already deleted this app. Until now I am trying to figure out what this app is for. Every word I looked up, “fête” (French > English) being the last one, nothing came up. No translation. Nothing. Oh, an add telling me to get a translation app that I already have, came up. I am greatly enjoying the cognitive feeling of stretching my mind in this way. ### 5/5 — Excellent *2020-12-15, version 3.0* I downloaded this very useful app (it’s free) and so easy to use I have started to learn french the two way translation is absolutely fantastic and shows the translated it’s definite article which is important in french language construction. BUT, when your phone goes into Dark Mode the text becomes black on a black background and when you open an individual answer it becomes white on a white background!! Difficult to use but not impossible. I then thought that no translations were appearing but eventually realised that the translations appear as white text on a white background so are completely invisible.
