The app is a mess and keeps getting worse. Painful and buggy to use. Constantly have to re-add items to the cart because the UI says things were added but then they are not there. Hire better engineers or have better software quality control please!! ### 1/5 — Horrible and buggy *2026-08-16, version 14.3* I have been a customer for years. The app gets worse every month. There's a persistent problem with updating orders. It freezes if you try to add a promotion code. You have to close and reopen it several times. It uses Apple Pay by default because the credit card I have used for years is connected to my Apple Pay account but I don't want that and there isn't a way to stop it. The search function is absolutely inaccurate. I could go on. Whoever designed this app should be ashamed of themselves. ### 5/5 — VoiceOver accessibility *2026-08-13* I’m visually impaired and use VO to mavigate the FD app. I’m used to having to do work-arounds when a button, for example, is non responsive. I can only do this because I have enough sight to see the screen and navigate these instances without VO. But recently the app is now unresponsive when I double tap on Photos. This means I can only tap on type to hear a response. I was trying to figure out how to communicate directly with the developers and noticed that they responded to reviews. Can you please fix this issue Delting and reinstalling the app has never fixed any issue I have had with the app. Thanks **Developer response:** I am sorry that voiceover is not functioning properly with the app. Please e-mail us at service@freshdirect.com with your account information, so we can escalate the issue to our engineers. ~HP ### 2/5 — New updates are really obnoxious *2026-08-11* I have been a loyal customer for nine years. They have been making updates to both their website and the app. On the app, the payment method always defaults to Apple Pay. I have to manually change it to a different payment method each time I make a change to my cart. There is no way to choose your default payment method. Also, if I put items in my cart on the website, they do not show up on the app. I have to put the identical items in my cart on the website into the cart on the app. They are not in sync. They have also started substituting items if they are out of stock of the item you ordered. There is no option to select alternate substitute items like on every other shopping app. Also, you can’t opt out of the substitution. You do not have a choice. They used to just tell you an item you ordered was out of stock. Now they substitute an item, and a customer service rep told me you do not have a choice about this. There are other changes too that I find really obnoxious and unfriendly to users. **Developer response:** I am so sorry that both the app and website are not feeling user friendly. I am sorry the app is defaulting to Apple Pay and not letting you choose another method as your default payment. Could you please send a screenshot of this to service@freshdirect.com? They will be able to escalate this and the other issues to our development team. ~HP ### 2/5 — Stopped working *2026-08-10, version 14.3* The app stopped working two days ago. No update available. Opens briefly then shows error message. Before that it was a good app. ### 3/5 — New updates are garbage *2026-08-07, version 14.3* Update #4 8/7/26 I stand by my initial garbage assessment. It doesn’t take 2 weeks to fix this mess. Still having issues modifying cart. I made changes and it looked like it saved for my delivery this morning but no. It didn’t save. Sucks not to be able to easily change the cart. Update #3 7/30/26 Still having issues with time slot selection. This was never a problem before. Now I can’t get next day service. It’s like holiday scheduling. Update #2 7/29/26 Problems appear to be resolved now. Will continue to monitor and if no problems this gets bumped back to 5 star. Update 7/29/26 Sill garbage. Any attempt to modify the cart now fails. I get the oops page if I attempt to modify through orders. I don’t get a modify page if I go through the home page order. If by some chance I do get into the cart, it doesn’t modify. I’ve uninstalled, restarted phone, and reinstalled. I’ve tried going through the internet homepage. The whole site is screwed. Who tf did this? 20 years it was working fine with an occasional glitch but is now basically unusable if you can’t modify the cart. And no, I’m not going to be gaslit into a pointless call to spend my time troubleshoot your problems. Update 7/27/26 Still garbage. Tried to update cart, it reverts to a new cart. Problems with payment - it keeps asking for Apple Pay even though I’ve sent my Amex as default. Time slots were unavailable for 4 days. I’ve written to customer support and was met with someone rude. Eventually someone else resolved the time slot issue but everything else is buggy. The developers hate this corporation. As a 20 year veteran of FD, I found this a surprising lack of interest in the customer and now is just about the worst app I use on my iPhone. This app was working just fine. Now it is impossible to update cart when the order has been placed.
