## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Update - why?

*2026-08-05*

This app was perfect. What have you done? Why did you remove the clean layout and visible circle of fifths? At least make it optional.

**Developer response:** There are lots of different themes are available.

### 2/5 — Oops

*2023-10-13*

In principal a useful tool. However, I should, under no reasonable circumstances whatsoever, be shown the second degree of an E major scale as Gb, or the third degree as Ab! There may be some kind of setting to change this, but, sorry, it simply shouldn’t be possible in the first place. IT’S WRONG, PERIOD!

**Developer response:** The new version fixes this issue!

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2018-07-29*

Strings come up in reverse order when initializing. Changing anything (like the scale type) gets them proper.

**Developer response:** The new version fixes this issue!

### 2/5 — Not quite what I expected

*2017-06-16*

Thought I could roll through the cycle of fifths via the wheel. Not crazy about blending black dots on frets either. Prefer discrete dots to large blocks for memorization of patterns. I won't use it, I regret to say.

**Developer response:** The new version fixes this issue!

### 3/5 — No DADGAD

*2026-06-17*

Mentions dadgad in the description but not available to select in tunings 🙁

**Developer response:** Both dadgad and dagdad available, you can also create your own creepy weird tunings too yuck 🤢 “lets give one star this free awswome app”

### 3/5 — No sharps!

*2026-04-30*

I was very surprised to find only flats are used. I e searched for a setting, tried various scales and keys but they all use flats rather than sharps.
Why oh why?
It’s a shame as the app has a lovely clean interface just marred by this.

**Developer response:** The new version fixes this issue!

### 3/5 — Hey Man, you don’t put a maj3 in a minor7b5!

Hey Man, you don’t put a maj3 in a minor7b5!

### 5/5 — Intuitive, simple and essential

*2026-08-12*

This is the only App of its kind for iOS.. a professional truly free and fast tool for all musicians. One of the few truly essentials to grab if you play an instrument and have an iPhone. Thank you endlessly for this. Bless you.

### 5/5 — Exactly what i needed

*2026-07-29*

Perfect Fret learning app with all possibilities to configure it to your needs.

### 5/5 — Sine Waves

To my guitarist comrades I recommend using this to play with sine waves and signal chains it’s great fun and often sounds great.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-06-29*

Used this app for years. Love the redesign. Just wish they didn’t get rid of the circle of fifths visual bc I used that.

### 5/5 — Looks better than ever

*2026-06-16*

The new UI looks and feels incredible! At its most basic, it's an incredibly inspirational tool. But as with all of this dev's apps, this one provides a very useful and new approach to music making, especially benefiting guitarists trying to think outside the box.

### 5/5 — Quick, Easy, Clear

*2025-08-07*

Great quick app! Pick your root & scale/mode, and it shows the fretboard map, chords (major/minor/diminished). You can even customize the tuning of each string so you get a fretboard map for open tunings!! -VERY- handy. I would really love to see the option to colour code the Root note (and possibly other intervals) on the fret map

### 5/5 — Your Guitar Accompaniment

*2025-08-05*

This is great to accompany you in your journey to master the guitar fretboard. Compliant for Bass and Ikulele and other stringed monsters. Just select your tuning and wahlah all will be revealed 😁

### 5/5 — Great reference source

*2025-08-02*

Simple and clear and very useful

### 5/5 — Very useful and free!

*2022-01-04*

I can’t believe this great app is free, invaluable tool for any string instrument player and teacher!

### 5/5 — Must have

*2018-07-27*

This app is simple, clear and a great help. To have all your scales in one easy source is well worth the money. Highly recommend.
