## What is FretLedger?

FretLedger is the guitar log built for players who care about their instruments. Track every guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, or ukulele you own with a level of detail that no other app comes close to.

YOUR COLLECTION, FULLY DOCUMENTED
Record make, model, year, serial number, and photos for every instrument. Document hardware specs — bridge type, nut, saddle, tuners, hardware finish, trem block, and strap locks — alongside construction details like fretboard wood, fret wire, neck and body finish, and roasted timber. Log tuning, string gauges, pickup configuration, and wiring for each one. Search and sort your whole collection in seconds.

STRING TRACKING THAT ACTUALLY WORKS
Set a restring interval for each guitar and FretLedger flags overdue strings automatically. Log brand, gauge, and string type every time you restring. Keep a string inventory to track what packs you have on hand, spot gaps before a gig, and add what you need straight to your shopping list.

COMPLETE SERVICE HISTORY
Record every setup, truss rod adjustment, fret dress, pickup swap, and luthier visit. Track parts used, costs, and the settings you dialled in. Flag issues as they come up so nothing gets forgotten before the next service.

WIRING AND PICKUP DOCUMENTATION
Choose from 40+ templates covering Stratocaster, Telecaster, Les Paul, Jazzmaster, Gretsch, and more. Document every control, pot value, and coil split. Track your pickup inventory including stored pickups you plan to reinstall.

STRAP COLLECTION
Track every strap you own — brand, material, colour, lock type, and photo. FretLedger matches straps to guitars by strap button style so compatible pairings surface automatically on each guitar's overview. Attach a strap to a guitar and the pairing travels with the instrument. All major strap lock systems are supported.

SIX LANGUAGES
FretLedger is fully translated into English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Japanese. Every screen, label, and service type — including all 40+ wiring templates — is localised. The app follows your device's language setting automatically.

SHARE AND BACK UP WITH CONFIDENCE
Export a branded Guitar Passport PDF to share with a buyer. Send individual guitars or your whole collection as a .fretledger file via AirDrop or Mail. Automatic daily backups keep your data safe across app updates.
No subscription. No account. No cloud. Everything stays on your device.

### 5/5 — Très bien!

*2026-06-24*

Parfait pour suivre ses instruments, il manque juste peut être le changement de devises, il n’y a que le dollar de dispo.

### 5/5 — A Very Cool Tool That Will Only Continue To Grow!

*2026-03-29*

Downloaded after seeing the dev post about it on Facebook, and so far I love it! It’s a great tool to keep track of specifications, mods, and even string changes!

Only issue I’ve had so far is that uploading photos is a little janky on iOS, you have to finagle it by selecting two photos at once before it’ll pop up the screen to crop the first photo you selected. Not a huge issue, but definitely something I look forward to getting patched!

Overall a great app, and I’m excited to see how it continues to develop as updates roll out. I’m hoping we’ll get the option to sort the guitars by tuning, and more tuning options overall since there currently isn’t an option for my 7-string in Drop F LOL.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! I’ll definitely get these issues with the display photo handled and add drop F for the Djent crowd!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.15 — 2026-08-11

- Photo Collage — build a high-resolution collage of your collection in a few taps. Select every guitar at once and let FretLedger pick the photos at random, or choose exactly which shots to include. Two layouts, five shapes, output up to 6K, plus background, spacing, captions and colour looks. Share it, or save it straight to Photos.
- Location tracking — know where every instrument is. Log a guitar as lent out, with a luthier, at a shop, in storage, on display or in transit, with an expected return date. Anything overdue is flagged on your collection list, and a new filter shows everything that's away from home. Link the holder to your Luthier address book and their contact details stay one tap away.
- Weight — record each instrument in pounds or kilograms, sort your collection from heaviest to lightest, and see it on the Guitar Passport PDF.
- Improved translations throughout — German, Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese now cover every screen, including the counts and summaries that previously appeared in English.

### 1.14 — 2026-05-30

- Scale length is now a built-in field under Construction — choose from popular presets (24" to 35", short scale through extended-scale bass) or enter a custom value.
- The Strap Collection has a new sort menu — sort by name, colour, attached guitar, or lock type — and shows a running total at the bottom of the list.
- Fixed a bug where restoring a backup could create duplicate copies of straps you already had.

### 1.13 — 2026-05-26

- Improved reliability — your guitars now save instantly when you add, edit, or remove them.
- New safety backup — FretLedger automatically saves a fresh backup each time you add a guitar, kept separately from your daily backups so you always have a recent restore point.
- Backup & Restore now highlights your latest snapshot in its own section.

### 1.12 — 2026-05-12

- Updated screenshots
- Improvements to strap collection items

### 1.11 — 2026-05-04
