### 1/5 — junk!

*2024-10-02, version 2.3.0*

very difficult to connect to my AC and when i finally got it to work, I got an error message saying my AC firmware needs to be updated. Great… but there is NO way to do that if i can’t connect to the AC. I really thought spending $1000 on a good AC would be worth it… it is NOT!
I wish i could get half my $ back for not being able to get this feature to work.

### 1/5 — Awful Design

*2024-08-31*

I have two Kuhl units, one purchased in 2021 & one in 2024. The newest one syncs but the older one doesn’t - endless loop of “now interfacing with Friedrich device…”
The software interface for the one that works is terrible. As others have said, no on-off button which is a serious flaw. I accidentally turned the fan on but there doesn’t appear to be any intuitive way to turn it off. I emailed customer support with regards to connecting the first device but received no reply.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2024-08-13, version 2.3.0*

I don’t know how many reviews it will take to get this company to fix their app, but at least I can help highlight their incompetence.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2024-08-12, version 2.3.0*

My main reason for purchasing a Friedrich A/C was the ability to control the unit when I am away. This worked for a month or two then completely stopped working. A dialogue box appears that says the unit is updating and to wait. This message never clears even after many hours.

### 1/5 — FIX THE GREY SCREEN. new version broke it.

*2024-08-11, version 2.3.0*

it worked really well for a good year or two after being terrible for so long. it was nice while it lasted, now i just get a grey screen. tried reinstalling, restarting, nothing worked

### 1/5 — Shockingly bad

*2024-08-01, version 2.3.0*

I cannot believe they released this app. The dev team should be ashamed.

### 1/5 — Works about 10 percent of the time

*2024-07-24, version 2.3.0*

Very frustrating because we were really looking forward to this feature so we could control the turn down the temp on our way home and monitor it for our cat while away. We have two new wallmaster units and for the most part they are unresponsive to any instructions (temperature change, on/off, etc) from this app.

### 1/5 — June 2024 Update Completely Broke App

*2024-07-09*

I was apparently one of the lucky few for whom the old version of the app worked reasonably well. As of the June 2024 update, however, the app is completely useless, as tapping on each of the AC units in the app brings up a completely greyed out page. I can no longer program my AC units at all from the app. Why Friedrich would push out an unreliable app update just as a very hot summer was beginning is completely insane to me. Please downgrade the app back to its prior version to make it usable again!

### 1/5 — Still doesn’t work!

*2024-07-09*

I keep trying to connect two wall masters of mine every 6 months or so, and I got a new error this time! It says my firmware is out of date and I need to call customer service. Tried calling and they said there was nothing they could do because it’s out of warranty. Nothing… just receive a callback from a manager (I’ve been put on this list several times and have never received a call back). Terrible terrible terrible. False advertising! Ready to join a class action.

### 2/5 — Can’t delete device

*2024-07-07, version 2.3.0*

If you try to delete an AC from your device list it does not do anything.

### 1/5 — Updated Smart App Bag o’Hammers

*2024-06-30, version 2.3.0*

June 17, 2024 App went comatose - while it presented my unit there was no option to interact / all you have is a bland grey screen

Spoke to Friedrich support and was advised there was an upgrade but there was an unexpected minor issues: App has no functionality with Apple’s IOS!!

Operator suggested if possible I should get an Android as this would solve the problem!!

It’s now June 30 - I have called support line at least 7 times in re whether this “minor issue w/ IOS “ has been resolved but other than citing each time “we are concerned and have a meeting scheduled today to address the issue “ alas! Still no joy.

### 1/5 — Grey screen instead of display controller

*2024-06-23, version 2.3.0*

Avoid this brand, totally unrealiable. See Hyde mostly recent reviews, you will find the new version of app AND wedsite arecompletely useless.

### 1/5 — Awful terrible doesn’t work

*2024-06-21, version 2.3.0*

Always had problem with this app. Now you update it a week before this intense heatwave and you have removed my ability to use it. No functionality. Just get a grey screen when I choose the unit and I can’t do anything anymore. Fix it!!

### 1/5 — Still not working after 4 years!

*2024-06-19*

I don’t know why I thought 2.3.0 would fix the longstanding problems. I feel like Charlie Brown. Tapping on my devices or My Profile brings up blank screens, and I can’t do anything. There are no options to unregister devices or accounts as claimed. When I first got my ac’s in 2020 I was able to add them in the app and they’d show the current temp, but control rarely worked. They stopped even updating the temp after a few months, and I have not been able to connect to them since. I emailed and called support several times in the first few years but have never received a response.

### 1/5 — What a joke…

*2024-06-17, version 2.3.0*

2 Kuhl air conditioners, App has never worked.. So I bought to Sensibo’s and they work perfectly.. Totally programmable and fail safe, well worth the investment…. New update doesn’t work now I get this error message “ 'Timestamp' is not a subtype of type 'String?' in type cast” What a joke …
New update doesn’t work…

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — FIX YOUR PRODUCTS!!!!!

*2025-08-14, version 2.4.2*

it’s absolutely unacceptable that you’ve continued to ignore customers who clearly voice concerns that no one is able to use the smart features of your AC units. Don’t advertise what you can’t deliver, DISAPPOINTED!! Don’t waste your time on this app, OR the “updated” version, you will end up pulling your hair out on the 6th time trying…spoiler alert, they never designed this product to work

### 1/5 — Worst app ever!

*2025-08-06, version 2.3.0*

I spent $1,000 on this unit because it had an app I thought I can use to control my settings and it’s a reputable brand. Well the app doesn’t connect to my phone I tried troubleshooting the problem and still nothing. Customer service is horrible! They said a rep will call back and never did. Do not buy this unit if you want to use the app! I would give this app zero stars if I could.

### 1/5 — Do better Friedrich

*2025-07-26, version 2.3.0*

Horrible App. Barely works for two days, now it seems like it’s stuck. I’ve tried signing out and in and nothing. With all of the technology available to you why are you failing so miserably in the App dept? If you can’t do it then integrate with SMARTTHINGS and let them handle it. Jesus - over 2k on an AC and I can’t even control it remotely. Total fail and for that - this will be the last Friedrich machine I ever buy. You lost a customer who’s been loyal for over 12 years. I’m done.

### 1/5 — Worst!!!!!

*2025-07-07*

This app is defunct for about 1 year now. Called customer service end of June ‘25 and I was told that new app is launching momentarily. Well. 3 weeks later, still no app. Also, if you had an account for some time Friedrich disabled that and will require a new account set up once new app launches. And, you cannot use previous email address as this will no longer work. 2 chat requests with customer service were blatantly ignored. Stay away from this! They don’t seem to care at all. And, as much as I remember, the app is not that smart anyway. Just terrible.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2025-06-19, version 2.3.0*

Freezes constantly. Unusable scheduling system fix it or get rid of this useless application.

### 1/5 — Honestly

*2025-06-06*

Honestly, this app is worthless, which is surprising, coming from a top ac company. When I purchased my AC in the fall, I was able to connect this app. Now, I am prompted to connect again for some unknown reason. I buy that, but the wifi login screen does not allow me the option to paste my complex wifi password. So, begrudgingly, I took the time to type it in manually (over 20 digits) and then, after doublechecking the PWD, the app screen is not long enough to allow me to click the connect button. I literally can’t scroll down enough to click to save the WiFi information. WORTHLESS! Don’t buy their ac’s for remote connectivity, if that’s a feature that’s important to you.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work well

*2025-05-07*

The app frequently fails to update temperature changes, which is frustrating. The scheduler feature is useful but often requires multiple attempts to save settings to the unit. Even after successfully updating, subsequent adjustments to the scheduler don’t sync properly. At times, the app displays an error message stating it’s unable to update, while other times it silently reverts to the device list without applying changes. Overall, the app struggles significantly with reliably updating the AC unit with any modifications.

### 1/5 — Horrible app sub par product

*2025-01-21, version 2.3.0*

Absolutely draconian technology that when paired with a $1500 air conditioner is an absolute slap in the face to the customer

### 1/5 — terrible

*2024-12-27, version 2.3.0*

Honestly terrible software. The only way to get it to work is to set the zip code and time zone in the profile section. The graphs are useless and honestly the whole unit is a loud disappointment.

### 1/5 — Almost worthless

*2024-12-01, version 2.3.0*

The app doesn’t do anything but turn the unit on and off. The scheduler is difficult to program and when reprogrammed doesn’t do anything. If you close the app the program defaults to another schedule.

### 5/5 — Figured it out!

*2025-04-07*

Had tried several times unsuccessfully and then read that my home network had to be transmitting 2.4 (not 5.0) so I switched to 2.4. And you have to turn off “private WiFi address “ setting for the home network that you will be using. Then I read somewhere that you need to ensure that the display on the air conditioner needs to stay on the entire time. You can do this by pushing the up and down arrows. I believe you get about 10 seconds before the screen goes black, so just make sure you push one of the arrows before it goes black. I followed the above two steps along with the other steps on the app and it worked! As far as using the app itself, I haven’t played around with it yet. But at least I now see my Kuhl unit on the app.

### 5/5 — Buggy app

*2024-08-08, version 2.3.0*

As of Jul 2024, the app works very well. If you encounter any problems then re-add you device. Remember to turn off 5G band on your router before re-adding device.

### 5/5 — Worst app. Update crashed everything

*2024-07-16, version 2.3.0*

Latest update next anything that you can do with the remote. Worst customer service ever.

### 5/5 — AC freezing and shutting off

*2023-10-02, version 2.1.0*

My AC all off sudden freezes and then shuts off when it’s connected to the WiFi. I took of my wifi and it works without freezing and shutting off. Going to run more test.

### 5/5 — Wi-Fi Success

*2023-04-09*

I recently purchased another Wallmaster and attempted to add the device to my existing profile with my two current Wallmasters from 2019. After calling tech support, they informed me that I had to create a new account since the two older wallmasters are on a different server. After creating a new account, I was able to use the app to control my new Wallmaster. Rather than signing in and out all the time, I just use the app to control my older devices and the webpage to control the new one. Annoying but at least it works.

### 5/5 — App will not work

*2021-08-11, version 1.2*

After months of trying to fix the connection issue, I was told that the current air conditioner models are all having the same errors and the only solution is to replace the front panel computer as most of the ones that came with the machines were faulty in this area. They apparently have not identified the faulty models and the only option we have is to have them send a replacement computer and "hope" that we get a working one. I'll be on my second replacement soon, fingers crossed I guess 🤷‍♂️.

### 4/5 — Apple Watch App

*2024-06-13, version 2.3.0*

Please allow this to be controlled on the Apple Watch

### 4/5 — App finally works!!

*2023-08-07*

The latest update finally fixed the whole problem. I got both my wall masters to connect and they work with the app well. The schedule doesn’t seem to work— can’t set different temperatures based on the time of day as when I change the night temperature in the schedule, the day time changes as well. They all seem to be linked. App is otherwise basic but at least I can now control the on/off and temperature remotely. Hooray!

### 3/5 — Some bugs but ultimately functional

*2025-06-17*

I had success connecting my two new WallMaster units without too much difficulty. I can control them from my iPhone, iPad, and even my Mac. The bug I’ve encountered is that the temperature changes sometimes don’t “stick” even after repeated attempts. The workaround that seems to work (usually) is changing another setting, like fan mode, then returning to temp, and then temp changes will actually take effect. I’ve had to do this with both units a couple times. Feature request for the app would be for when you tap on a device to reveal its settings, it shows the name of the device at the top (e.g. Bedroom). HomeKit integration update would be lovely of course but not gonna hold my breath on that.

### 3/5 — I found a solution

*2024-07-11, version 2.3.0*

I called Friedrich and they walked me through the process. The first thing is to reinstall the app a d use a new eMail address for this. Crazy, but it worked. I did have to call Friedrich tech support to walk me through.
