### 2/5 — Setup is nearly impossible

*2023-07-24*

I was completely unable to set up the portable air conditioning unit using the instructions in the app. The a/c simply would not connect to the wifi network in my house despite over two dozen attempts, over half of them with tech support on the line (with the rooster in her Indian yard crowing in the background).

I went online and found multiple complaints, dating back years, saying the same thing. One said they couldn’t fix it despite having 5 tech support people on the line. I noticed one comment that said using an iPad to do the setup rather than an iPhone fixed the problem, and allowed the user to control the a/c with the iPhone after the initial setup using the iPad, so I tried that. Still wasn’t able to get the a/c to connect to the the wifi using the iPad, but when I then tried again using the iPhone, it finally worked, and I am now able to control the a/c using my phone remotely.

Frigidaire needs to fix this issue. There’s no excuse for a big company like that putting garbage software out there and not fixing it. Frankly, I’m surprised Apple let them put it in the App Store.

**Developer response:** Hi, we apologize for any issue you might be having! Could you send details of what you are experiencing to our customer support at SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com? We'll get you up and running.

### 2/5 — Login Impossible with Smaller Screens

*2023-06-19*

I originally selected the Frigidaire Wi-Fi AC because I could remotely control the device. It’s worked great for a few years now, and the unit always surprises me how quickly it cools a few rooms in my house.

The unfortunate issue comes with the updates to the app. When I set up the AC this season, I was disappointed by the fact that I can no longer log into the app to control the device simply because the login screen can not scroll or resizes for smaller screens. I have an iPhone SE, and there is no way to access the login button after entering the credentials.

If this can be patched, this would be most helpful to the small phone community.

**Developer response:** Hello you can either scroll to show sign in button, or close the keyboard by tapping any white space on the screen. If there is anything we can do for you, just let us know at SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com! Have a wonderful day!

### 4/5 — Needs direct control over inverter power level

*2023-05-15*

My shiny new 12k inverter AC is a game changer. Offering dramatic improvements in power, quietness, and efficiency. Under certain conditions, it can run at under 100w, including the fan! Like so good, why do they even bother making 8k and 10k models at similar prices? Just add a room size menu to the 12k and call it a day. Market it as a single “Universal 1k-12k” model.

But the inverter’s power level is fully automated, based on set temp, outside temperature, and fan speed. And this automation gets in the way. Particularly in my sleep only configuration. Where I would like 1200w power to precool the bedroom in the evening and then 2-300w to keep it that way while I sleep. But by the time it’s late enough to turn my Frigidaire on, it’s also cooled down enough outside that the most power I can get out of it is 600w. Unnecessarily doubling the time precool takes.

I need a scheduling option that includes power levels. Percentage, room size, watts, disable inverter. Anything that will let me max out the compressor’s power for a few hours in the evening. Then also schedule automated or lower power levels to run quiet until morning.

### 2/5 — Duct tape is faster and safer

*2023-04-01*

Forces an account, wifi, and repeated password changes & browser based logins to re-access the app, to simply turn off a giant, blinding, flashing blue & yellow light bar (they enable by default) on a portable bedroom air conditioner. Faster and less headache to simply cover the light with duct tape.

Holds your ability to do anything in the dark hostage, while their AC is in the same room (sleep, watch movies, etc), in exchange for your email address & browser cookies. Again, duct tape and done.

To be fair... the App works! Kudos! ... But one can't separate reviewing the app from the hardware due to how they are integrated... ie: app is required to get a basic non-app related hardware option to work. An App that requires personal data as the ONLY way to disable the AC status light-bar.... with repeated logins and password resets as the ONLY way to keep it disabled. It's a hardware issue that became an App issue once Frigidaire made the light's off-switch an App exclusive option.

**Developer response:** Hi, we apologize for any issue you might be having! Could you send details of what you are experiencing to our customer support at SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com? We'll get you up and running.

### 3/5 — Setup is frustrating

*2023-03-28*

The set-up is beyond frustrating! There are so many steps and wait for this and listen for that. We watched the video and followed that! I first got the appliance it took an hour to finally get it connected.
Now I updated the app like I was asked to, had to reset the connection. This time I tried 5 times and I’ve given up!! The directions say the blinking light will come on… it doesn’t. I heard a chime though, so I let go when it said. Continued on to the next step and my AC starting beeping (directions say nothing about beeping) continued on, finished the steps and I get, “No connection!” I chose allow location when using the app and chose the WiFi label it told me to. …and nothing!!

**Developer response:** We sincerely apologize for the troubles you've had with the app. We'd be happy to take a look into this for you, please contact us at SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com. Thank you.

### 3/5 — Can’t remove schedule once created

*2022-08-06, version 1.2.8*

Initially, I couldn’t login. Their excellent support team diagnosed the problem, which was my VPN.

I created a schedule for the AC, but changed my mind about it because I only wanted to schedule it for one day, not to be repeated. Now I can’t seem to delete the set schedule.

### 4/5 — Recent update better

*2022-08-05, version 1.2.8*

Just purchased wifi-enabled AC in June 2022.
The AC function is excellent; but unable to connect to my wifi.
Recent update seemed to have corrected issue (or it’s still flakey- but got lucky!).
The smart phone app is great in controlling unit. However: the scheduler needs improvements -similar settings that my smart thermostat in another hvac system:
1) there should be a vacation mode- not where it’s off- but a user setting that keeps ac running but to an unoccupied setting that doesn’t keep unit in a crazy hot status (i.e. if comfort setting is 72- there should be a vacation setting of 82.
2) one should be able to have stored schedule but ability to turn off schedule without erasing. Same with sleep cycle mode.

### 2/5 — Lots of bugs

*2022-08-05, version 1.2.8*

I have 2 of the gallery Window AC units. One has connection issues all the time, I’m assuming it’s an issue with the ac unit and not the app, however recently sometimes when using the app it says it’s connected but the ac unit will be stuck on and you can’t get the app to turn it off (it seems to think the unit is off when it’s clearly not). To get it out of this state I have to unplug the AC unit.

### 2/5 — Constant connectivity problems

*2022-07-28, version 1.2.8*

The app looks good and has all the necessary features but has constant connectivity issues. I have 4 Frigidaire ACs and it randomly loses connection with each of them at different times and then with a few days regains connection without me doing anything. So I don’t think it has anything to do with the ACs themselves. I would love to give this app 4+ stars if it only worked consistently.

### 2/5 — Surprisingly unhelpful app

*2022-07-26, version 1.2.8*

I was so excited to buy an air conditioner I could control from my phone. Turns out that’s not what I bought, because the app seems to work less than half the time. It frequently becomes disconnected from the appliance and has to be re-paired. More than half the time I try to use the app to adjust the AC, it just loads for a few moments then stops without actually changing the settings on the unit. I’ve never experienced an app that works so inconsistently.

### 2/5 — Wifi app drops connection

*2022-07-20, version 1.2.7*

I found that if a slight brown out or power interruption occurs the wifi module in the unit looses connection with the app servers and locks up. Thus requiring a power off for a minute or two and then a power on. Strange how other manufacturers have overcome this issue.
To update this let me say that my router never shutdown at all since I was watching the Apple TV which as you know is a streaming box so if my router went out it would have lost contact with the streaming services. So yes I stand fully behind saying the unit hates even a slight dip in ac power. And I have 30 years experience in electronics hardware. So I say to you stop taking the easy way out by listing the simple solutions. So many people have the issue I’d bet it’s not one of the simple answers. Sounds more like the wrong size capacitor on the a/c input for the wifi module.

**Developer response:** If you experience a power outage it will also turn your router off. Once power has been restored, the air conditioner will automatically reconnect after a few minutes.

### 1/5 — App won’t connect to Wi-Fi

*2022-07-07, version 1.2.7*

I replaced my unsmart Frigidaire portable AC unit with one with Wi-Fi capability. Tragically, and in what would be apparently a ginormous waste of money, it doesn’t do the one thing I want it to do: be smart. I spent four hours this evening attempting very unsuccessfully to connect this thing to my home wireless network, a network that 30 other things can connect to without any issue at all, but this Frigidaire 2.0 app simply just doesn’t apparently have what it takes to connect to a Wi-Fi network.

### 2/5 — Freezing

*2022-07-04, version 1.2.7*

App many times is freezing when you setting temperature or fan speed, sometimes falsely saying that device is offline, respond is so slow so sometimes is better to operate AC manually, I don’t see other choice for it, at last sometimes it’s works, voice operating via google nest mini works with limitations only turn on or off, many times google says no connection with this device…

### 3/5 — Great app, keeps disconnecting, etc

*2022-07-02, version 1.2.7*

I love the app but it disconnects from the unit all the time that’s an inconvenience and it makes iPhone X 12 max both get smoking hot when app runs, actually felt like my phones were going to self destruct-that hot. Hope you can fix the issues but all in all it is very convenient

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worst app ever!

*2023-07-11*

If I could give it zero start I would. This is the worst smart appliance app I’ve ever used. The tech company that created this app clearly didn’t know what they were doing. I was locked out of my account and couldn’t get back in. Every time I tried to log in the app would ask me to reset my password and after entering my email, I never received the link to reset my password. I had to create a new account with a whole new email and password in order to use the smart appliance via the app. The whole point of getting a smart AC is to be able to turn on the AC remotely via the app so when I get home the apartment would be cool. Word to the wise. If you’re looking to invest in a smart AC, do not, I repeat DO NOT! invest in a Frigidaire smart AC cause the app doesn’t work 95% of the times

**Developer response:** This doesn't seem right. We want to take a closer look at this for you. Please send a note to SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com so we can connect.

### 1/5 — No Log In Function

*2023-06-25*

This app used to work until an update a few months ago. I have my correct login info but am unable to login because there is no “submit” or “next” or “log in” button on my phone.
I paid extra for my AC to have this feature that is no longer functional. Worse, the scheduling function is imbedded in this non-working app, so it’s become a manual operation. I used to set my AC to begin cooling 2 hours before I got home to bring my 110 sq-ft workshop below 85 degrees. Now, no luck. It’s 95 when I get home and takes hours to get below 85. An email to tech support told me to do all the things I told them I’d already tried. No help. Very frustrating.

**Developer response:** Hi, we apologize for any issue you might be having! Could you send details of what you are experiencing to our customer support at SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com? We'll get you up and running.

### 1/5 — Desync issues

*2023-06-13*

Lately when I make any sort of change in the app, the portable A/C will correctly perform the setting change, but the app will start loading then show that my setting never changed. For example, I'll turn my A/C off in the app, the portable A/C will turn off, but the app will load and then a minute later say that the A/C is still on. Closing the app and reopening it will fix the desync between the app and portable A/C, but it's very tedious having to restart the app any time I want to do something. I bought it yesterday and it wasn't an issue. Today I woke up to my app refusing to connect to my portable A/C, when I restarted the A/C it started working again but now I'm faced with the desync issue. I still have 29 days left on the return policy so it's up to you.

**Developer response:** Hi, we apologize for any issue you might be having! Could you send details of what you are experiencing to our customer support at SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com? We'll get you up and running.

### 1/5 — Painfully useless

*2023-05-17*

UPDATE: the developer responded in an utterly useless way. Read the review; fix the issue. If they put the effort into fixing the app that they put into pretending to help the reviews wouldn't be so awful

You'll log in, it'll look like it's thinking, and then it'll just stop thinking... no indication that you logged in or didn't; just the same login screen. Same with enabling notifications; buttons appear not to DO ANYTHING which is astonishing for buttons in an app. Then god help you if you get past "enable notifications," cause you're never getting anything but a red splash screen with intermittent spinners. Just an unbelievable pile of garbage for such a large company to produce. I'd be embarrassed to put my name on it. The

**Developer response:** We apologize for the inconvenience. Can you be more specific please so that we can identify the issue? Don't hesitate to reach out to us at SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com.

### 1/5 — New App is absolute junk

*2023-05-16*

The old app worked flawlessly with my wi-fi. The new app, from day 1 has never worked. The only solution the support team could come up with was for ME to get a different router to try to see if it would work…. How can you release a new app, have the customer explicitly tell you the old app worked fine and nothing has changed in the environment and still suggest the customer needs to buy another router to try… not even knowing that it will fix the issue… Maybe the new app is hot garbage? We bought this A/C unit primarily for the smart function and offsite control. What a waste of time and money. Horrible support. Incompetent.

**Developer response:** Hi, we apologize for any issue you might be having! Could you send details of what you are experiencing to our customer support at SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com? We'll get you up and running.

### 1/5 — Can't even log in - does not work

*2022-10-11, version 1.2.8*

Create a sign in, then asks to validate email. Do that, then the app gets stuck. Kill it and re-open, and you get a new accept notifications screen which makes you weirdly log in again. Do that, and app freezes again.

Kill it, and now the app won't load at all. Reinstall app, process repeats itself.

### 1/5 — App Has Problems

*2022-07-28, version 1.2.8*

Signed up for an account and it took me to a screen saying I needed to verify my email. I did that, but it didn’t kick me back to the app, so I switch back and it’s stuck on the verify email screen. I back out of that and attempt a login, which seems to work, but then it asks about notifications, which I figure I will give them a shot. I say allow and it asks me to log in again on a different looking screen. This login doesn’t work. I back out and try to say no to notifications, but that doesn’t work, either. I back out and try to log in again, which fails. I tried force quitting the app, but now it won’t even go past the splash screen with the Frigidaire logo. Can I just use the freaking app and get to the verifications and notifications later? Can you make a real app that isn’t just loading web pages so it’s actually responsive and remembers my state and login information and so on? If I find out I have to log into this app ever again, all convenience of using it is lost. Terrible experience so far. I hope it works when I try again later, but I’m about to give up entirely.

**Developer response:** We would be happy to help you through this and get you going with the app. Please give us a call at 800-311-4667 or send us an email at SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com. We apologize for the trouble.

### 1/5 — The App

*2022-07-28, version 1.2.8*

Your app doesn’t work. What minor bug and adjustments did you fix because right now the app does not want to do anything I set it to do. It says my ac is on when it’s off, I was trying to turn it off from the app on my phone and it doesn’t do it, it just buffers and goes back to the screen as if I didn’t do anything, I’m changing the temperature on the app to control the ac and yet it continues unchanged, all of it! Nothing is working and it’s done this twice already two days in a row. Are you fixing it at night or why does the app not work? Yesterday when it did this I just kept trying and finally it went back to normal but it’s not doing so now and honestly I don’t know what it is? I checked for updates on the phone and nothing needs to be updated. I turned off the phone and back on refreshed the app and nothing. What’s wrong with it?

**Developer response:** Please power cycle the appliance by unplugging the unit for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. This should update the app and air conditioner status. If not, please email your review along with the model and serial# to SmartHelp.US@Frigidaire.com.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2022-07-08, version 1.2.7*

I just downloaded this for my new a/c unit and this app is hot garbage. It loses connection CONSTANTLY and it will correctly change the temperature one time. If you try to change it again it goes to 60 degrees and won’t change until to do a full reset of the app. This is compounded even more by the fact that the controller that came with it doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — User not friendly and bad support!

*2022-07-07, version 1.2.7*

This app is very stupid, I lost connection to my AC after winter is done. I tried to connect again (10 times) it keep telling me “Oops, Let’s try again”
I called the support number on the screen, but the support told me it is out of Warranty, trying to refer me to a local support that I have to pay. But my AC is working just WiFi not connecting, why can they help?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Let the cool begin

*2022-11-28, version 2.4.1*

I have used Frigidaire for a few years now and like the features. The hand held remote is not very friendly, but the app works great.

### 5/5 — A1 AC

*2022-10-21, version 2.4.1*

Love the App and being able to control the temperature as I’m leaving work to make sure my room is nice and cold when I get home. I love using it when I’m in bed and don’t feel like getting out to change the settings. Just all around a Great AC!

### 5/5 — Smart Frigidaire AC

*2022-07-21, version 1.2.7*

I love it so easy to use, works great in keeping things cool. I love the fact I can control my AC the app I downloaded. I can set the temp or turn it off. It’s great would definitely buy again

### 5/5 — Convenient

*2022-07-18, version 1.2.7*

It’s very convenient, especially if you have a newborn and want to adjust the temp, you can do it right from your phone without going in the room!

### 5/5 — Does what it’s supposed to

*2022-07-02, version 1.2.7*

After installing a Frigidaire AC in my window I downloaded this app. It was a bit cludgy getting the appliance on my WiFi, 3-4 steps. The app works perfectly. Complete control of the air conditioner from anywhere.

### 5/5 — Dependable app

*2022-07-02, version 1.2.7*

My remote is completely dead/broke and I rely upon this app to control my unit. I actually prefer it over the remote for its visual display features. I wish my other unit was app compatible as well.

### 5/5 — Not as good as the 1rst app... But now 👍👍👍

*2022-06-21, version 1.2.6*

Just downloaded this app again, today, June 21, 2022. Worked!! Seems to have the bugs fixed. We shall see. Thank you so much for fixing it. Really needed this app!!

This was my previous review.....

Amen to the 1 Star review jonmonster gave. I can’t use this app anymore. Constantly saying it’s lost connection. Deleted and redownloadedtge app more than once. Same thing happens.

### 5/5 — Dehumidifier

*2022-05-27, version 1.2.6*

I use this app with my dehumidifier and have never had a problem in the nearly one year I’ve been using it. These reviews seem to speak to an issue with their a/c units connecting, but if you’re looking to use it just for the dehumidifier - it works flawlessly.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-05-22, version 1.2.5*

App is working great. I did have trouble getting it to connect but I found out that my precise location was not on and that’s where the trouble was. When I turned on the precise location in my phone settings for the Frigidaire app it connected flawlessly. I am using three different Frigidaire air conditioning window units with this app. It makes it very convenient when you’re away from the house. You can manage the air conditioners when you’re away from home. Very awesome!

### 5/5 — Seems like it’s working recently

*2022-04-14, version 1.2.4*

I turned my window AC on for the first time this year last month and I was surprised because the app immediately reflected that my AC was still connected. I used to go into the app and at least once a day, usually more, it would show my appliance was disconnected, though it seemed like it was a problem on Frigidaire’s end, not my connection or appliance. If they fixed the issue, as they kept assuring me that they were working on, it seems to have worked.
