It allows me to track what I’ve tried and add new finds, and keep lists of what to look for next. There is some useful information on lots of cheeses, some of which I would love and some I’d never touch. There are irritating glitches, so that multiple entries appear, and deleting an entry actually cause another duplicate to appear. Overall I’ll keep using it and I’m pleased the app exists, and I’ve learned to live with the glitches. ### 4/5 — Needs to be better *2022-01-13* For an app that I paid for, I would expect it to not erase all my entered favorite cheeses. But it just did that. I like the layout but it needs to be better than this. ### 4/5 — Nice although limited *2020-06-27, version 10.2.1* A nice app for recording cheeses to find/avoid in the future. The best I’ve found for this purpose (with the gold standard being Vivino for wine). Limited in that it only seems to work on iOS with all info stored on your phone/iCloud with no website or excel download functionality. It would be great to be able to follow other users’ reviews for inspiration (although I understand that this is a whole different design/hosting/cost model for the developer). ### 3/5 — Very nice *2019-01-26* This is a good app, with a couple of small issues. The interfaces is looking a little stale, for one, but the bigger issues are duplicate entries and descriptions that often look like ad copy. I'm sure that has to do with where the entries were sourced, but after so long, couldn't they be edited? Also, like the duplicate entries, it is unhelpful to have, say, "Cheddar", "Organic Cheddar", "Goat's milk Cheddar", rather than Cheddar; Cheddar-Goat's milk; Cheddar-Organic. Same goes for branded cheeses all clumped by brand rather than type. These are longstanding issues, and it appears the developer has little interest in addressing them. ### 3/5 — Some good but could be better *2017-11-05* I enjoy finding new cheese on this app and saving cheeses I’m searching out in my favorite list. It would really make this app a lot better if there was a creamery name directory and it was searchable by cheese name. I just added creamery info for ten or so if my fave cheeses which was tedious. ### 3/5 — Pretty good... missing a few things *2017-11-03* First I’d like the saved/favorites to sync across devices. I have both iPad and iPhone, but the data is not shared between them, so I have to re-enter the data twice or limit where I manage the information. Next, I’d like to be able to create a profile with my likes/dislikes. Third, I’d like to share share my information and opinions, and collaborate and see what others think and what their opinions are. ### 3/5 — Remove *2016-12-22* How do you remove Cheese selections from your favorites list ### 3/5 — Needs better navigation *2015-11-15, version 7.2* Positives Extensive cheese list Note taking Search function works well Negative Navigating by types is very difficult The little selection dots on the right are not labeled There's no way to expand or collapse lists Although you can toggle favorites on and off there is no way to remove the cheese from your favorites list ### 2/5 — Could be a lot better... *2014-10-03, version 7.01* If the author didn't cut and paste the promotional content off each cheese producers website and if they cut out the pointless duplication and simply describe each different type of cheese, what milk its made from, where it's produced, how it looks, how it's stored, how it tastes and what to eat and drink with it...please sort it out! ### 2/5 — Not ideal for iPad *2014-07-12, version 7.0* App claims to be functional on both iPhone and iPad. Works fine on my iPhone 5S (5 Stars). Not at all on my iPad Mini. Both running iOS 7.1.2. IPad version starts then takes you to a type of cheese. No menu. No search. No ability to get off the page. Finger swipe. Tap. Pinch. Tried every known trick, even reloading, no luck. Hard to navigate. **Developer response:** It’s great you have found new and unique cheeses in this huge world, there are always new creations being introduced by the many fine artisans here in the United States and abroad. Please submit them to me so I may conduct research and include them in a future release of Fromage. ### 1/5 — Awful for taking personal notes *2020-10-15* Apparently you can see your notes Only under favorites. But it is totally nonsensical. When you look at your favorites you have have No idea how you rated a cheese **Developer response:** Thanks for your review. The notes can be viewed in any part of the app where the cheese detail is displayed. The note shows as a very brief few sentences along with the star rating, and more details can be viewed by pressing the "Notes" button. The "Favorites" tab allows you to note (i.e., group) which of your cheeses belong in the "Buy, Try, or Favorites" categories. I hope your experience with the app improves as you explore more of its features. ### 1/5 — Ne vaut pas le coup! *2018-10-24, version 10.1* Application peu complete niveau contenu (fromages courants dont francais non referencés) et n’integrant pas de base de donnée interessante propre mais des liens wikipedia.. peu utile! ### 1/5 — Doorstop *2018-05-26* Haven’t used it in a while, but now found that it locks up immediately. Disappointed since I need to log a particularly bad cheese. :-). I have an iPhone 6s and have updated all my software to 9.3. Does anyone know what the problem is? ### 1/5 — You've broken it! *2014-07-15, version 7.0* I like this app and often use it... Dinner parties, holidays etc. Was looking forward to the update and being able to add some cheeses we found in Europe.... But the latest update has broken the app. It opens on a different cheese with no way back to the main menu. I have opened and closed it lots of times, but its now impossible to navigate. Can you fix it please? A cheese lover. ### 1/5 — Completely Unusable *2014-07-12, version 7.0* Horrible app. The links in the favorite tab don't work, rendering the entire section useless. The icons in the menu are pixelated and the overall design and workflow do not follow conventions and/or basic principles of mobile UX. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2014-04-14, version 5.1* Save your dough, skip this cheese app. Data base is very limited plus it doesn't sync between devices when you add your own info. I should have been more cautious before hitting the buy button, don't make the same mistake. ### 1/5 — Poor, very poor unless you live in the USA *2014-02-06, version 5.1* This lists dozens of US and Canadian cheeses, largely unobtainable and omits vast numbers of European cheeses readily available in the UK but includes too many very marginal cheeses. No Welsh cheeses such as the very popular Pont Gar, Perl Wen, Perl Las and Bockburg to name but a few. Many French cheeses missing too.Wine matches next to useless. It has been repeatedly updated and made more useful and remains a beautiful constant when all my other favorite apps have gone away. Congrats! I buy lots of different cheeses and have used this guide to search for new ones. Often I have to bring them in from the country of origin. I’ve shown this app too many cheesemongers I meet and all of them said they wanted this app. Hopefully they also bought it.
