For example when I try to open Enchanted it will crash but Zork 1,2,3, Planet Fall, Station Fall work fine. It would be awesome if I could use all of my old Infocom games on Frotz. I would also be willing to pay for that ability or donate to the cause. All of my titles work on the iPhone but not the iPad. ### 4/5 — Love interactive fiction *2026-01-20, version 1.8.8* I’d give this a perfect rating but I agree with some of the comments that an upgrade is needed. Frames for a map, inventory, possible stats. It would be nice if you could generate your own Eldrum or Beyond Zork, not full on graphics but some nice frame images to pull you in. Maybe allow for the addition of background music or sounds. Something to enhance your mind’s eye without distracting from it. ### 4/5 — Text Styling *2024-07-06, version 1.8.8* There isn’t enough padding on the left in portrait for iPad mini or iPhone but the developer said they might add an option. I just need one or two em of space. Also hoping for line height/spacing options. I don’t know where the fonts come from. When I first heard about this app from a really good friend of mine, I found it a little bit difficult to use. Nowadays, it's good that I have a text adventure app on my phone. I've been playing text adventures as I said for 18 or so years. I'm an avid player of interactive fiction, and I love it. I even play interactive fiction that my friends and I make up on our own. Interactive fiction has so many twists and turns, and the puzzles are great to keep the brain going. Wonderful stuff!!! ### 4/5 — Wonderful app that could use a couple small updates *2022-03-02, version 1.8.6* First off, let me say that Frotz has given me hours of enjoyment delving into so many different worlds created by the IF authors, and I’m so grateful to be able to experience all the creativity through it. There’s only two minor things keeping me from giving it a full five stars, one of which is lately there’s been a bug when I download a game it shows in my library, but with a stock image icon instead of the game’s own icon. This seems to happen when the game is in a zip file. The other thing is that I’d like to have a way to sort through games in the library other than the search bar, preferably a folder system that you can drop games into (make them your own based on type, progress, etc.) Aside from that, this app is wonderful, and keep up the good work! ### 5/5 — Nice, but… *2021-11-29, version 1.8.6* I tryd to add new games like hitchhiker, but it just gave an error back with could not load file. iOS 15.2 so I „just“ can play the games which are already in the app. May you can fix it? :) Edit: Fast and helpful support. "Please just go out of the window." ### 2/5 — Can’t play imported games anymore. *2025-08-08, version 1.8.8* Used to work perfectly but now doesn’t understand z-code files for some reason and .gblorb files encounter a fatal error which renders the game unplayable. 90% of games imported from IMDB don’t work anymore. used to be a 5* but until this bug is fixed it’ll be a 2* for me. I am on the latest iPad iOS (18.6). ### 2/5 — Bad stories *2021-07-22, version 1.8.6* It is a good app. It seems to work. Unfortunately, the stories are poorly made. One story for example has you waking up and having to get ready to go to work (because you are late) first off: how is that in any way interesting? So, I am on a bed and need to go south to the bathroom. Okay. so: “s” but then it says “you have to get off the bed first”. so I do that, go to the bathroom. take shower. “It’s generally a good idea to take off one’s clothes before showering” “”undress” doesn’t work so “remove clothes” “you take off your soiled clothing” then “take shower” but this happens:”Carrying your possessions into the shower is a bad idea” which possessions exactly? wasn’t I sleeping? Haven’t I removed my clothes? Then the main Zork adventures has this: “A passage leads to the west and a dark staircase can be seen leading upwards.” ”climb staircase” “climb stairs” don’t work. “Go to dark staircase”. nope. so “w” but then there is no more mention of the staircase. And I checked most of these “adventures” and they are all like this. Tedious, poorly written. Simple commands do not work. It is not an issue with text-based games. Text based games work and this emulator is good. Unfortunately, it appears taht all the games were written by imbeciles! ### 2/5 — Frotz *2021-03-14, version 1.8.6* I’m loving the whole experience but it doesn’t save. I type ‘restore’ but go back to the beginning of the game. My score is saved and sometimes my notes.
