## What is FSXFollow?

FSXFollow is the live moving-map and instrument companion for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, X-Plane 11/12 and Prepar3D. Watch your flight unfold on iPhone, iPad or Mac as it happens — with the simulator running in another room or another house.

Real-time UDP telemetry at 10 Hz. Live MSFS cockpit panels rendered in-app. METAR and TAF with on-device hazard scanning. AI-narrated cruise mode on iOS 26. A 79,000-airport offline database with 3D satellite runway previews. Full two-way control of the simulator.

WHAT'S INSIDE

Gauges: real MSFS instrument panels running live in the app — PFD, ND/MFD, EICAS, MCDU, FCU, SAI and more for the A320 Neo, 737 MAX, 747-8 and 787-10. SimConnect variables stream over UDP into the DOM. MFD/ND panels use Apple Maps for terrain context.

A320 MCDU: six authentic Airbus FMS pages — INIT, F-PLN, PROG, PERF, RAD NAV, FUEL PRED — with live position, waypoint distance, ETE, course-to-steer and radio frequencies.

Radar: phosphor-green CRT traffic scope, track-up, with concentric range rings and a sweep. AI aircraft show as triangles oriented by heading with a relative-altitude callout. Runways drawn for every airport in range.

VATSIM: opt-in overlay of live VATSIM traffic on the Pilot Map and Radar. Polled every 15 seconds from the VATSIM v3 feed — 1,300+ pilots online at peak. Orange aircraft icons + callsigns distinct from simulator AI.

Planner: build a route by searching 11,000 navaids and 79,000 airports. One tap auto-fills VOR/NDB waypoints between departure and arrival along the great-circle path.

Stream: 1 Hz live screenshot feed from your simulator's camera, fullscreen.

Pilot Map: live position, AI + VATSIM traffic, facilities (airports, NDBs, VORs), flight-plan polyline.

Flight Plan: every waypoint of your loaded route with the upcoming one highlighted. From/To populated from the ground environment and FMS even before a static plan loads.

Ground: jetway status, parking spot, COM 1, assigned runway, doors, and services (catering, fuel, stairs, pushback, marshaller).

Weather: nearest METAR and TAF — wind, visibility, ceiling, flight category, decoded cloud layers. On-device ML scans the raw METAR for hazards (thunderstorms, freezing precipitation, wind shear, gust factor).

Approach: real-time runway picker scored on headwind, crosswind, length, and gust factor. "I want to land here" expands a glideslope advisory with distance, ETA, TOD, descent rate, target Vref, and on/high/low profile status. 3D satellite preview of short final tilted along the approach axis.

Takeoff: optimal departure runway plus expected ground roll, 50 ft distance, density altitude, climb gradient, and runway margin.

Cruise: live narration of the area below your aircraft using on-device reverse geocoding and Apple's Foundation Models on iOS 26+.

Airports: search 79,000 worldwide airports by ICAO, IATA, or name. Each detail page shows runways, frequencies, a labeled hybrid map with white runway polylines, the current METAR, and a per-runway 3D satellite preview.

Six-Pack Instruments: airspeed, attitude, altimeter, heading, turn coordinator, vertical speed — dark cockpit theme.

IFE: cabin-style flight display with a cloud-dodger mini-game (Game Center leaderboards).

Control: send sim commands — gear, flaps, autopilot, lights, brakes, thrust + / − — over UDP.

Siri: ask "altitude in FSXFollow", "land here", or "open [mode]" — no setup.

Camera: switch the simulator's view (cockpit/external/drone) and instrument-panel presets.

Multi-platform: a single SwiftUI app on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

I purchased this app to provide so added information to the flight simulator without having to drill down or trying to use a control with the mouse.  

The pc component downloaded and seemed to communicate with MSFS 2020. I was unable to get the iPad app to connect to it. The help files were more a history of flight simulation. I could not find any help on their site or with any Google searches.

I purchased a few years back Fsx follow in the App Store iOS and Microsoft store. The program was very easy to set up and use. Suddenly it stopped working! Finally I noticed it was back, however I use FSX boxed. The app only worked with steam. I contacted support and Jaroen sent me a response within 24 hours that he would work on a fix. A few days later, I was contacted by Jeroen. They sent me a link for fsx boxed.
It worked immediately. So many new features! radar, 3d and 2 d map tracker, cockpit views, airports etc. love the app. I even sent in a small donation for his efforts.
I would recommend to anyone who wants a fun app that works great with fsx! Other formats are available.

Follow up. I converted to Prepar3d v4.5 and the program and app work flawlessly! I use it every day! 
Worth every penny and much more!

It takes a little effort to get it running for the first time, but with support from the friendly APP developer, I made it. The APP shows a lot of features for flight simulation, which are very useful. For this price, you get a very good program, and the support from the developer is excellent.

I used to love this app! I do most of my simulator flying in Northern B.C., bush flying and this app was ideal as it gives me a moving map as close as I need.
Now it hardly ever works and doesn’t have the google earth detail that it used to. 
Sorry. Just isn’t that good anymore.

So I downloaded this software only for it to not work as I cannot find a copy of the PC client at FSXfollow! I’d like my money back!

Not a single reply from the developers of this product, very poor service, Apple you should be ashamed to have this product in your App Store.

There is a moving map in 2D or 3D and basic information about airports, but no visible navaids, no route shown on map, cockpit view fails and auto zoom only seems to work in 3D. Practice approaches work. Given the price it is ok for a moving map, but don’t expect much from the other components, nor help from the developer as my request for help was ignored. Shame, as the app does have potential.

Siri commands + teleport-to-final + bigger Control panel:

- Siri / Voice Intents: ask Siri "altitude in FSXFollow", "airspeed", "heading", "vertical speed", "nearest airport", "land here", "position for takeoff", or "open [mode]" — no setup, phrases work out of the box.
- "I want to land here" now actually moves the plane: tap a runway in Approach and your aircraft is teleported to 5 NM short final at 1,500 ft AGL, 140 kt, pointed at the runway. Disable autopilot first.
- Thrust + and Thrust − buttons added to Control.
- Runway previews now open a 3D satellite map tilted down the approach (replaces Look Around, which was missing for many remote fields).
