## What is Fuelbetter?

NEXT-GENERATION NUTRITION TRACKING & ANALYSIS

Fuelbetter track calories, macros, and 170+ other nutrients & bioactive substances accurately. This complete, holistic view of your nutrition, combined with Fuelbetter's ground-breaking digital dietitian, empowers you to achieve your dietary, health, and performance goals, whatever they are:

∙ Faster exercise recovery & performance

∙ Lasting weight loss

∙ Pregnancy health

∙ Shifting to a plant-based diet without losing out on important nutrients

∙ Immune system support

Fuelbetter’s team of software engineers, data scientists, dietitians, and sports scientists have spent years developing the proprietary technology that makes the app possible. The end result is revolutionary: FOUR WORLD-FIRST functionalities which can help you take control of your health like never before.

1. PRECISELY CALCULATE YOUR BIOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS
Fuelbetter calculates your unique nutrient requirements using techniques normally reserved for elite athletes. The one-size-fits-all RDAs (average daily allowances) communicated by public health authorities aren't right for many of us. Not only that, but requirements can shift suddenly during moments of life change, such as pregnancy, taking on a new physical challenge, starting a weight loss journey, or going vegan.

Take iron: A woman following a paleo diet who exercises little may have a dietary iron need of 4mg/day, while another woman of the same height and weight but following a vegan diet and training as an endurance runner may need 100mg/day. That’s a big difference – equivalent to the amount of iron in 3.5kg (8 lbs) of spinach!

2. TEST FOR 164 NUTRIENT DEFICIENCIES/EXCESSES
Fuelbetter monitors your nutrient intake throughout the day, compares this to your nutrient requirements, and checks for the presence of any nutritional deficiencies or excesses. Historically, only blood tests could offer this level of insight, at an average cost of a restaurant meal (or more) per nutrient. Fuelbetter tests for 170+ nutrients in real time, at a fraction of the cost.

3. ON-DEMAND DIGITIAL NUTRITIONIST
Once you’ve identified any problem areas in your diet, Fuelbetter’s powerful digital nutritionist suggests exactly what to eat to hit your nutrient requirements. Rather than complicated new recipes and obscure ingredients, you’ll see meal suggestions based on foods you’re already eating. If you don’t like the first suggestion, just swipe left and to get another suggestion instantly.

4. SEE THE HEALTH & CLIMATE IMPACT OF YOUR CHOICES
Just in case you need any further motivation, Fuelbetter measures the real time impact of your food choices on your immune health, the health of the planet, and your risk of developing type 2 diabetes and other diet-related non-communicable diseases.

SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION
Fuelbetter is free to download. Ongoing use requires an active subscription, available on a monthly or yearly basis. ### 5/5 — I love

*2024-03-14, version 1.3.1*

This app is almost perfect but there are a few things missing
- Apple Watch version
- being able to connect to apple health
- the ability to add your own foods and put in the nutritional value

### 4/5 — Great app with potential but..

*2022-04-08, version 1.3.0*

I found this app because for health reasons I need to keep a closer eye on what is coming into my system. I can’t seem to find a contact option within the app and would like to know how to add more food (even if it requires submitting it for approval). Among other things, I take an energy B12 powder and cannot find anything equivalent on it. Maybe there is an upgrade option but I can’t see it.

There also doesn’t seem to be a match for my exercise routine which is mainly walks, gentle aerobics etc but I have to put a hard training option in so I feel that maybe throw it off a bit?

It has amazing potential.

### 3/5 — Almost!

*2021-12-16, version 1.3.0*

Ahhhh it looked so perfect and exactly what i was looking for in terms of tracking everything! But the deal breaker is that it doesn't seem to sync with apple health which means the apps which are syncing, like my workout app, wont then show on this app so I'd have to log in manually every day. The bit that makes tracking health so tedious is having to log it all manually rather than it being automatic. If you could add this one feature, your app would be perfect and I'd give 5 stars and recommend it to people.

### 1/5 — First day use disappointing

*2021-11-06*

I got the app and tried entering food for breakfast. I had a three-egg omelette. That’s not a choice, so I thought I would “add” it by ingredients. No. “Add” means that (instead of scanning the bar code) you type what you’re looking for in the drop down menu. I chose “eggs”. Note, no option to say how many, but judging from the preset numbers assigned to “eggs,” I assume it mist correspond to two large. Next, I tried adding tomatoes. Unfortunately, the app didn’t recognize the bar code that the “Mucci Farms ‘Sun Drops’ tomatoes” came in. I’m back to “adding,” i.e., “searching our drop down menu,” for what I ate. I select the one that most nearly corresponds to what I ate. I try to adjust the numbers assigned, get the number of grams right, all to no avail. Note if you change the serving size or any other number—none of the other numbers change: 5 grams? 100 grams? No problem. Your calories are still the same. I had hoped to use this app like I had used SparkPeople years ago before they messed up their program. But no. This app, for my purposes at least, appears to “useless as the teats on a boar hog,” unless maybe I restrict myself to corn flakes and beef-a-roni. I assume the app can read those bar codes (although getting the quantities right probably will still be a problem. They either need to improve their app (start again from the beginning?), make it more intuitive if I’m so dumb that I can’t figure it out, or make a version for dummies that might work for me. But, this one is useless.

One other thing, on the graph, “nutrients over limit,” it says I am 180 over my “tropical forest impact” allowance. ????! Chicken eggs produced in my back yard? Tomatoes? Onions? That puts me “over” my “tropical rainforest impact?” By 180? 180 what??? I think I am being pranked!

**Developer response:** We're sorry you had a frustrating time using our app. I hope you've found an app that better suits your needs! In answer to your questions:
- Like many other food diary apps, you'll need to type to search for a food or scan its barcode. We don't yet provide other techniques (such as taking a photograph), since the accuracy level of these techniques doesn't yet meet our standards.
- For any food selected, a default quantity is provided for convenience - but like other food diary apps, it is important to amend the quantity by tapping on the food, and editing the quantity on the individual food edit page. Note: when a food quantity is edited, this does not immediately change the values shown on the individual food edit screen, but it will be reflected on the main diary screen.
- "Tropical rain forest impact" is a measure of how food choices directly - or indirectly - contribute to tropical rainforest loss. "Eggs" are high on the impact list, because hens (and other poultry) are typically fed a diet which includes soybean meal - most of which comes from farms in Brazil created by deforestation of the Amazon. That is the industry-standard "egg" or "poultry product". If you know your hens are fed soybean-free diets, or the soybean meal in their diets is "rainforest friendly", then your egg consumption will have a zero tropical rainforest impact.
- I hope that helps! If you have any further questions, please reach out to us at hello@fuelbetter.co, and we'll be happy to help.

### 5/5 — l p

*2021-09-05, version 1.2.0*

very nice app

### 5/5 — Pregnancy nutrition sorted

*2021-08-27, version 1.2.0*

My usual approach to pregnancy nutrition (this is my third time around) was just to take a pregnancy multivitamin but I didn’t appreciate just how off-course I was until using this app. The multivitamin I was taking, when combined with my food intake, was giving me way too much of some nutrients and way too little of others. But the biggest surprise was iron, my iron requirement in the 3rd trimester wasn’t the 27mg I’d heard about so often but (as someone following a plant based diet) it’s actually 114mg daily! No wonder I suffered from iron anaemia in my previous pregnancies. So amazing. Thank you Fuelbetter!

### 5/5 — OBSESSED!!!

*2021-08-26, version 1.2.0*

I can't say enough good things about this app!! It's really helped me improve my gut issues PLUS improve my nutrition at the same time PLUS make better choices for the climate.

I used MyFitnessPal before, but in my opinion, this app is so much more friendly for someone like me who is interested in more than just calories. I've always prided myself on "eating healthy", but I recently started eliminating sources of gluten and dairy in my diet so I downloaded the FuelBetter app to see if I was missing out on any vitamins and minerals. I was shocked by just how much I was missing. And a lot of "healthy" foods I was eating were not as healthy as I thought.

My favourite thing is that the app shows you what foods to eat to fill any nutrition gaps - I'm learning about all the different nutrients and where to find them. I feel WAY smarter about nutrition now! Another HUGE thing: I had no idea that some of the things I was eating had such bad climate impact - even good things like mangos and pineapple. The app has really helped me make better choices and lower my climate impact. OBSESSED!!!

Thank you, FuelBetter!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app!

*2021-03-18, version 1.0.2*

I love this app, I work as a Dietitian and think this app really gives my clients the finer detail they need to improve health.

### 5/5 — Life changing!

*2021-02-26, version 1.0.1*

Despite being a very active, energetic person, I’ve been struggling with extreme fatigue for over a year. I’ve had ALL the bloods and all the investigations...turns out a heady combo of hormonal imbalance and Gilbert’s Syndrome were making me feel like I could barely get up in the morning. Diet is really one of the main ways to manage this - but despite having a relatively good diet already, I needed to include a lot more of certain micro nutrients. I had no idea! Fuelbetter has helped me to see exactly how much of those micros I’m getting everyday and let’s me know what to eat to maximise each meal! I feel like a new person. Highly recommend!
