### 3/5 — Interesting reads

*2017-06-10*

An interesting read and one of the few magazines with some quality jointed woodwork.
It's downside is far too many adverts and too high a focus on flashy design . It's cheap but there are barely any other magazines in the uk that don't have screwed nailed simple projects rather than in depth how too fine woodworking. A little bit more on the practical, projects and techniques and less advertising would be worth the extra cost and could certainly make this the best fine woodworking magazine around.
It's main competition to me is fine woodworking from the USA

### 4/5 — Furniture & cabinetmaking

*2015-10-10*

I've subscribed to the full version. I used to get the magazine by post (in Australia) but by the time I received it I always found it starting to date - particularly the what's on sections. This is by far the best way to get it. The downside is that it is hard to print (say) a plan and take into the shop. I would really like a good way to search between issues and articles. In terms of content I really like the contrast between this and the American equivalents. Keep up the good work.

### 2/5 — Disappointment

*2015-09-08*

Last few issues feel like the editor has struggled to find enough to fill the magazine.
Pages of so called news and little of substance in the magazine.

### 4/5 — Great magazine.

*2015-03-20*

This is a great magazine for its content which is always something different than the other well known American publications. The photography is great. The only issue I see is with the app. It would be very nice to have the ability to print pages and articles. Since I read it on a iPhone it is difficult to get the details for a project and quickly reference back to the plans.

### 4/5 — The magazine is great!

*2014-10-04*

The magazine, itself, is wonderful. I've subscribed to the print version for many years. This e-version has its problems, occasionally, in the area of loading an issue that you've never read before. I usually see the Pocketmags logo with the "downloading" message and the issue never downloads. Usually I come back to it later or use a slightly different sequence and then everything is fine. It is annoying, however, and should work better.

### 4/5 — Review

*2013-12-31, version 4.9.34*

Works for me. Love it

### 4/5 — F&C in top 3 woodworking magazines

*2013-06-15*

Great projects, great techniques and great authors put F&C up there with Fine Woodworking and Popular Woodworking! I had a print subscription for years. Now I like the ease of the digital subscription. It is much less expensive too. Sometimes downloads can be a bit twitchy; but other than that - a good app and a great woodworking magazine!

### 5/5 — I enjoy this app, however the magazine itself....

*2013-05-19*

I truly enjoy this app, however the magazine itself could use some improvements. I never had a problem with this app. I read his magazine on my iPhone. it is very convenient and very well put together. I also subscribe to 6 other different woodworking magazine apps. Therefore I can relate.
     Now about the magazine itself.
On one hand the choice for furniture exhibition is excellent. Really inspiring and motivating. I really enjoy that part.
Sometimes it makes me say "wow!!!"
Some of the pieces of furniture are amazing.
On the other hand there are a few issues that I find annoying. One of them is that if the magazine is showing how to make something, it never shows the whole process in detail. The magazine Needs more technical details shown and described. Sometimes It leaves me wondering how this or that specific part was made. And I mind u that I am a professional woodworker/furniture/cabinet maker from U.S. Also the magazine needs more detailed pics. One picture says a thousand words. Also nice to have a numbered pictures with conforming numbered explanation per picture on the side or something similar to that.
But overall I highly recommend this magazine. I used to buy it in the local book store for double the price, u are better of subscribing it via this app since you can check it out on iPad.

### 4/5 — Love it!

*2013-05-02*

I love being able to see what other woodworkers are doing. This magazine is great.

### 3/5 — Lost previous issues with most recent update

*2013-05-02*

It would be nice if consumers had recourse to a refund or so e other compensation as this publishers simply stole my money.

### 5/5 — Great Mag

*2013-04-21*

Great magazine well laid out and stuffed with info, the I pad version I find comparable to the paper one, so much so, I have canceled the paper one

### 5/5 — This app no longer works

*2012-12-23*

4.9.4 installed on an iPad 1 IOS 5.1 and no longer works. The app will not even start. Previous versions of the app were fine. The update may be the best yet but does not work on my iPad despite uninstalling it and reinstalling. Please fix..

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Won’t load issues or even let me select one

*2020-06-05*

I’ve reloaded this app 17 times and I still can’t get to the homepage or select an issue. All I get is a grey screen. It might be great material, but I may never know.

### 1/5 — Buyer Beware!

*2018-07-09*

I’ve been a long-time subscriber, and the latest update forces the user to agree to their new term and conditions policy. Fair enough if you want to purchase new content, but not accepting the terms locks the user out of all content that has been paid for. Customer support politely says sorry, but tough luck. Never before have I encountered such tactics from a magazine subscription.

### 1/5 — Pay For EVERYTHING

*2017-03-02*

I paid to buy the app........ ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT I COULD NOT READ ANYTHING without then Buying the magazine or setting up a subscription. I was very upset that had to pay for an app that was not any good with out spending even more money. Would love to have known that before I downloaded the app. I AM VERY UNHAPPY. Money Wasted for nothing 😡😡😡

### 1/5 — Ap is misleading

*2014-08-17*

This an excellent magazine but the ap is misleading. The initial purchase allows you to select only one magazine without the ability to search for a specific article in all of the magazines.

### 1/5 — Updated and no longer working

*2013-01-06*

I updated a couple of weeks ago but now the magazine will not load. I deleted and re installed the app but still no joy, desperately want to buy the latest issue but unable to do so! My rating is based on the current situation, when it was working i would have rated it as a 5.

### 1/5 — Won't work

*2012-12-28*

Used to work and was good but updated version will no longer open so useless unless sorted soon . And won't even be able to buy new editions of your magazine so guess they will soon realize there is a problem!!!

### 1/5 — Don't work any more

*2012-12-26*

Used to work on my iPad 1 and now won't even load, please sort out or give me a refund

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2012-12-22*

Buying this app will give access to a single magazine. The interface is very slow and the articles in magazines are not useful to professionals. I downloaded an issue about wood finishing as their feature article just to find out the article was 3 pages long and was going to be continued in other issues... I just wasted my money : (

### 1/5 — Misleading

*2012-12-02*

I purchased this for £1.99 this thinking it was for the 200th edition of the magazine. It shows a copy of the magazine itself. The magazine shows up in my Newsstand along with other purchases but clicking on it just brings up a page inviting me to purchase the magazine for a further £2.99. All I've got for my money is an App which lists all their magazines. I think this is very misleading and a total waste of money!

### 1/5 — WARNING do not upgrade!

*2012-04-05*

WARNING do not upgrade this app especially if you have purchased in app magazine issues! I just updated the app and now my library is empty and even though I can select the issue on the front page and select read from there the iPad screen goes black. To the publisher, either fix this or refund all my in app purchases.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Good app Good Read

*2019-06-15*

App works and I enjoy what is written

### 5/5 — Better than Fine Woodworking

*2019-04-23*

FW is to power tool focused for me - there is a nice balance here with interesting articles on new designers etc.

### 5/5 — One of my two go-to magazines!

*2018-10-23*

I find this to be a great complement to Fine Woodworking. It offers a certain British sensibility to the projects, and it shows great respect for the traditions and methods of classical woodworking. While it emphasizes hand work a little more than I might like, it always offers me something to learn in every issue. A must read.

### 5/5 — Furniture and cabinetmaking mag is great

*2017-01-07*

I love this mag. It is a nice addition to all my other woodworking mags that i subscibe to. Great job guys...

### 5/5 — Excellent read

*2016-01-15*

Excellent magazine that gives a different perspective than American woodworking magazines do.

### 5/5 — Look Forward To Next Issue

*2015-12-25*

Very well done, professional presentation, excellent mid - high skill level projects. Pay extra for the minimal basic projects. Keep up the great work!

### 5/5 — Enticing

*2015-12-12*

The best professional woodworking magazine on the planet.

### 5/5 — US availability on a consistent basis

*2015-12-11*

A bit pricey, but worth the cost. Actually more in these than the print versions as most images can be swiped to reveal additional images. Recommended.

### 5/5 — Enlightening

*2014-08-05*

Great coverage from everywhere in the world of woodworking, from simple basics to the most baroque to the most artistic.

### 5/5 — Very good

*2013-07-29*
