### 2/5 — Feel unfinished, lacking design, and far too pricey

*2023-11-26*

Apologies for the LONG review but I feel this app is so close to what I want but missing SO much. I can see why people feel strongly about it as I am close to feeling that way but there is simply too much wrong to ignore.

I want to like this app and I do like the vision of it but the app itself is just so far off from feeling finished. It seems like more of a beta app idea that is missing polish and features. I thought maybe it was just iPhone and that the iPad would be better but it’s even worse. Nothing really lines up in the UI and the single worst part is that the main page starts you off with the community feed taking up 80% of your screen. This is easily the least productive thing that can be done in any app let alone one meant to make you productive.

I also have to fully agree with another reviewer and say the cost is simply too high. I find the app incredibly intriguing and possibly useful but without paying it’s useless as you get almost no features. I want to support active devs creating interesting and useful apps but I can’t justify $10/month or $100/year. The community seems great but based on the active users posting it seems it’s basically just power users. This makes sense and I can see someone like that justifying the cost but most people simply aren’t on that level.

For me the app would need to offer more for the cost or lower the overall price. I’d love to see it priced around $5 a month even if only for the yearly rate. At $10 a month I’d hope to see some AI integration, more options for habits, log location, better routines, themes, and more app linking beyond sleep such as more health and fitness data. Beyond all that it HAS to have a UX overhaul because the list of poor UX design issues would make this review unbearable. This is thankfully something even the devs realize as they have posted so in their own public journal. I’m happy they are working on it but the app I believe has been in development for nearly 3 years and this is the release version so my confidence is low.

My recommendation for the devs if they read this is to look into the way you try to bring people into the app. You need to ditch the EXTREMELY limited version for those not paying and move to a limited trial period of 7-14 days. Let people actually immerse themselves in the app and get a real feel for what it offers. That and fix the UX ASAP for all devices of course. A roadmap would also be great.

If there is a feedback form I’d be happy to fill it out or post further issues somewhere to get some eyes on it.

### 2/5 — Great app, but the subscription model kneecaps it

*2023-11-12*

I honestly really like this app. It’s been useful for tracking habits and seeing a visual timeline of every entry in the journal.

What kills it for me is you only get five entries per day in any journal. If you worked out one day and forgot to put an entry, you’ll have to be ok with using one of your five entries.

I understand this is a small team and they need to make money on the app, but $10 a month or $100 a year for full access is too much. If the fee limit was someone more usable like 10-15 entries then I would keep using the app.

Great app, bad use structure.

**Developer response:** Really appreciate the feedback and your interesting perspectives — it’s exactly what we need to keep making Futureland better for everyone.

We really care about our users, and it’s rewarding to work with them in shaping this app.

If you’re open to it, I’d love to chat with you to learn more about your experiences and thoughts on Futureland.

We’d really appreciate it and could buy you a coffee for your time.

Thanks for everything so far!

### 5/5 — A different way to track progress

*2023-08-28*

There are million daily journal apps out there. They’re all the same. But when I use Futureland, I feel like I’m journaling in a nightclub in Bladerunner. It’s awesome.

I like that I can share my journal as a webpage. I like that it’s quirky and has a cyberpunk aesthetic. Using it makes me feel epic.

### 5/5 — Leveling Up Daily Life

*2023-08-21*

Futureland is a fundamental part of daily life. The app provides a steady guiding force as I’m moving through my personal goals and work projects. Futureland has helped me to design a set of daily habits and routines, and more importantly stick to them. Unlike other habit trackers, the layer of social accountability and multimedia based journalling makes the app fun to use. The foundational guiding principles behind the software have truly changed my own journey of self growth and personal development in indescribable ways. I’ve been using Futureland for three years every single day, and intend to use the app for decades to come.

### 5/5 — accountability / habit tracker / community all-in-one

*2023-08-08*

futureland has been essential in helping me form habits, learning new skills, and keep track of every day tasks that for personal growth.

it’s helped me build a daily coding habit, meditation, journaling, all while connecting with others looking to improve in their own lives.

### 5/5 — Indispensable Tool

*2023-08-08*

Futureland had quickly become an indispensable tool that I couldn’t imagine my life without at this point. It helps me stay consistent with the things I want to do on a regular basis and and gives me a place to go to keep track of the things I want to learn and get better at and track my progress.

Not to mention the app just works flawlessly, is constantly getting updated with new goodness, and the developers are always listening to feedback from the community to find ways to make it better.

### 5/5 — Futureland is a companion in my daily life

*2023-08-06*

Futureland is a beautifully handcrafted app. I keep journals that help me build habits, develop projects, and grow as a person. Even as I've taken occasional breaks from the app, I always find myself coming back. I've been able to accomplish things I didn't think I could, learning the names of plants and fungi, getting an architecture certification, developing a consistent workout routine. I've been able to lean into alternative versions of myself that I wasn't sure was possible but have always wanted to try taking a step toward inside. The community is also delightful, it's motivating to be in a community of folx who are also on these journeys, sharing knowledge and compassion, without the superficial performance of mainstream social medias. As a team, they're extremely attentive to responding to user feedback and considering ways to improve the user experience, such as when it comes to privacy and security. I'm thankful to have randomly come across this app years ago and I'm so excited to still be around as if enters it's official App Store release.
