## Newest reviews (8 of 28)

### 2/5 — Sadly in need of an update

*2016-11-18, version 1.8*

Last update was in 2012 !
Crashes frequently when entering destinations forcing user to start over again. Editing text? No cursor movement, can only backspace to error, then re-type. And that usually causes a crash.

Generally clumsy but tolerable user interface for "Details". Especially if more than one car in the family.

### 2/5 — Average

*2014-05-17, version 1.8*

No integrate system for use with iPhone calendar and no gps feature

### 3/5 — I like it, but a couple of suggestions

*2011-05-03, version 1.5*

The app is good. However, I'd like to see the trip end time update automatically when I enter the ending odometer reading. As it is now you have to go into Detail > Edit, then click Save to update the ending time, and if you don't the app won't save the ending odometer reading -- I assume because it "thinks" you couldn't have driven [however many] miles in zero time. After much frustration wondering why the app would not save my end odometer reading I finally figured this out.

### 2/5 — Needs update!

*2011-03-10, version 1.1.2*

This app has not had an update in over a year. Now it crashes when adding trip on iOS 4.3. Please fix soon.

### 4/5 — Best in Class

*2009-10-15, version 0*

Selected after reviewing other apps, and finding this one the best in class. Would be nice if it could be setup to sync/backup with one click like Mileage Cubby, ESP with Wifi rather than having to manually typing in a port address on my browser.

Would be neat if users could create and use user icons.

Would be cool to see sample reports on web site and/or app store.

Nice job on the web site and help system.

### 4/5 — So far so good

*2009-03-07, version 0*

Very slick interface and easy to use. I use iXpenseIt as well, would like a status or export data to iXpenseit of all completed trips. Looking forward to it.

### 3/5 — Missing the same thing everyone else is...

*2009-03-02, version 0*

I really love that you can add a destination from your address book, but you should also be able to enter a starting point address and have it just calculate the mileage from google maps. With this feature, this app would dominate amongst other mileage tracker apps.

### 2/5 — So so

*2009-02-24, version 0*

Fairly good, but there seems to be a lot of clicking necessay to add a new mileage entry. The odometer wheels are less than responsive. I like that I can add mileage driven without adjusting the odometer wheels. Overall the app feels a little too unpolished to make it a positive experience, which it needs to be if I'm going to use this every day for business.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Issues

*2021-01-04, version 2.2.2*

I have an iPhone 8!with IOS 14.2. App closes frequently. Not able to delete car and purpose entries, very clunky. I do not recommend this app unless you like to be frustrated.

### 1/5 — This App is Worthless

*2017-03-26, version 2.2*

I have never downloaded an app before that was totally worthless. You cannot delete the default "Driver 1" or "Car 1" selections and when you add new car and driver selections it won't let you enter them into a mileage report. Additionally, it won't accept your mileage. This app is a fraud.

### 1/5 — Not good for now

*2011-07-08, version 1.5*

I love iXepenseIt so I also bought this as well But it is very hard to use. After an hour trying to get it to work I gave up. I got "miles bug" and after 5 minutes I was all set.
This program need to be broken down and redone from scratch to make it simple to use.
Entering new records is very confusing , it keeps going back to others ones I have already recorded and changing them instead.
Also some records after entering them do not even show up in the list. Not good. Plain and simple.

### 1/5 — Previously Great App

*2011-03-21, version 1.1.2*

Was great. Used it all the time. Was well worth $3 or more because I'm on road all the time. Then someone grew a brain. Now it won't allow new routes so it is worthless. Even the reports were excellent. Do not buy until fixed.

### 1/5 — Was A Nice App, Crashes since 4.3

*2011-03-21, version 1.1.2*

This was a nice application, and I used it frequently up until the v4.3 iOS update. Since that time, it crashes every time you try to add a new trip. Makes it pretty useless.
--
Updating -- no response from developer, hasn't even updated the website support form to reflect the availability of iPhone 4. Appears they have simply abandoned this application. Don't buy any of these applications.

### 1/5 — Fix app please

*2011-03-19, version 1.1.2*

Keeps crashing since update.

### 1/5 — Needs Update

*2011-03-17, version 1.1.2*

Since IOS 4.3, this app crashes when trying to add a trip. Useless app until the developer updates to fix this issue.

### 1/5 — Unresponsive developer

*2011-03-17, version 1.1.2*

If it weren't bad enough that you could inadvertently pull up reports and delete everything, now after the iOS 4.3 update, the app crashes when a new trip is initiated. So far the developer has not responded and the app is unusable.

### 1/5 — Bought this yesterday. No good

*2010-01-05, version 0*

Buggy, would not save trips or carry over mileage.

### 1/5 — Needs improvement

*2009-06-18, version 0*

I bought this because it seems to have the same functionality as Trip Cubby but FYI has a nicer interface. So far, most things are fine. I've used it about 10 minutes.

FYI is buggy. It has crashed several times. The "Notes" section brings up the keyboard even if you haven't hit "edit" and is not functional. The biggest improvement I'd like to see is the ability to include parking fees and other incidental costs. You can to this in the notes section, but the program doesn't total this up for you. So at the end of year, this information would export (I presume), but you would have to total this up manually. Not my idea of easy. I hope this program will improve quickly, otherwise I will find something else.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2016-12-08, version 2.0*

Dec 8 2016
iOS 10 compatible , no more crashes And full screen. Glad I stuck it out. Perfect to keep up with mileage.

* update *
Developer has fixed issue and it's back to the solid app that it used to be plus it's got a fresh interface.

Solid app. Tracks. Exports. Since iOS 4.3 I can not track any trips

### 5/5 — Add Trip Works

*2011-03-21, version 1.5*

Great Update!

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for

*2011-02-07, version 1.1.2*

Needs a little work....
Look forward to great updates from the hard working crew at fyi

### 5/5 — My favorite app!!!

*2010-08-17, version 0*

This my favorite and most used app! It saves me money by keeping track of business miles. A great feature I like is that you can search for past trips and use that description for a new trip. For example, if you make a lot of trips to the PO Box, you search for a past trip of that name and it also tells you trip distance. Select it, and it the name and mileage gets copied over to your new trip!

If you want to be more accurate and detailed, you can input your current trip's starting odometer reading, then input the distance which you already know for the past trip. Then you don't have to worry about setting the ending odometer when you get back (or if you forget to), because its already done! So this app saves time too!

### 5/5 — Attractive & Functional

*2010-06-01, version 0*

Had the other app from these developers (iXpenseIt) initially, and decided to try this one out as well. Quick and easy way to keep track of detailed information on all your trips--great for me, because I use my car for personal and work purposes. I also love the fact that you can post directly to iXpenseIt, makes my life a lot easier. A must have for ppl who have to be on top of their mileage and deductions.

### 5/5 — I do not know why the lousy reviews about this app

*2010-02-04, version 0*

I have used this app for over a year. It works great! Can send mileage reports over email, wifi etc. Did I say that it works great? Yes, you have to click through a couple of screens to add details, but it is on an IPHONE, what do you expect!

### 5/5 — Great addition

*2009-03-15, version 0*

Very good start for a promising app of tracking mileage deductions and reimbursements. A good complimentary to iXpenseIt.

### 5/5 — Great app! Perfect to log mileage!

*2009-02-23, version 0*

This app is perfect. I need a mile log for my business and this is cheaper than a pad of paper and has a lot more features. I love how it automatically puts the last ending mileage.

The best part is that at the end of the year I can email the entire list right from the program to my CPA and I'm done. He's going to be happy he doesn't have to go through a bunch of papers.

Can't beat the price. It's a program I would have paid $10 for. Awesome!!

### 5/5 — Wow!!

*2009-02-19, version 0*

Last year, I logged over 10,000 miles for my business driving, that's equivalent to over $5,500 of tax deduction!! So Mileage tracking is essential for me. I have downloaded and tried a couple other mileage apps, they are all descent but nothing stands out. FYI Mileage is in its own class! I was completely blown away by its' super cool and user friendly interface. Here's what I like about this app:

. Attractive design.
. Ability to get to all features within 2 or 3 taps.
. A very smart and interactive Odometer display.
. Quick summary of my overall driving statistics such as total miles drive, total amount I can deduct.
. I can look up destination directly from my address book.
. Allows me to log multiple cars and drivers.
. Nice graph report.
. Able to export my trip data by email or web browser (need wi-fi connection for browser export).
. Password protection (though personally I don't think it's necessary to protect my mileage log info).

I'm extremely satisfied with this application, highly recommend to anyone looking for a tool to track mileage, business or personal. Get it before they bump the price!

### 4/5 — ALMOST there! This app would be PERFECT with the following enhancements:

*2010-01-17, version 0*

Let me preface this with saying I've tried most of the mileage logging apps in the Store. Some are too basic, some are too wieldy (too many options), making it a pain to log trips. I'm an airline pilot who moonlights as a real estate agent, so I'm very familiar with logging hours and/or miles! After MUCH research, I settled on this app. It's not there yet, but with a few relatively-minor enhancements, it could be about as good as it gets. Here's my feedback:

Hi, I just purchased your app and like it so far. Don't love it because it takes a long time for me to enter my trips (I'm switching over from a great Palm app, MileageX). However, with a few seemingly minor changes (I'm a web developer myself), this could be hands-down the best Mileage app in the Store:

1. I hate having to scroll the wheels to enter start/end mileage. It's easy when I already have the beginning mileage input (since ending mileage is usually somewhat close), but it's a ROYAL PAIN to do when I'm trying to enter all my 2009 trips en masse (and from different vehicles, hence different start mileages). Maybe this program just isn't capable of mass-entry. It would be MUCH simpler and easier to use if I could type the mileage in with the numeric keyboard. I could then do in 4 seconds what it takes me 20 seconds to do with your current system.

2. Speaking of mileage entry, you have too many digits! I think 6 digits is enough for 99.5% of the world's population. Only professional truckers are every even capable of putting that many miles on a vehicle, but their odometers only have 6 digits!! 7 digits just makes data entry more difficult, as the numbers are smaller. Ditch the unnecessary 7th digit and this will be immediately improved.

3. Add an option for turning the time on/off. The date function is essential, but how many of us actually track times? It's not required by the IRS, and only DOT requires times to be logged (i.e. professional truckers). I'm an airline pilot and am familiar with these regulations, but I think the time just clutters an otherwise clean interface. It would be great to add a setting to disable times, as I believe most folks using your program don't need the feature. Plus, most trucking companies have proprietary hour-tracking systems, as required by DOT, so they won't be relying on FYI for official documentation.

4. This might be a little more difficult for you, but the date entry for new trips is also a bit cumbersome and un-user-friendly for entering trips en masse. I know why you lumped the month and day together in the date scroll wheel, and that is fine for entering trips from the last several days. However, try entering all your trips from 2009!! Talk about a scroll-hungry app! If I have to enter a trip from April 2009, it takes 17 seconds of scrolling just to get to the date. Not very user-friendly! Plus, you can't even see that you've entered that trip for 2009 (vs 2010) until you switch screens. A better solution would be to split the day/month/year into separate scroll wheels, which would allow me to enter a trip from April 2009 in 5 seconds vs 17 seconds as it currently requires.

5. Could you please add an option to save recurring trip names. For example, I like to title my trips by my client's name (i.e. "Smith"), but I don't want to necessarily save it as a destination, because I'm driving them around town to different locations (versus going to the same address all the time). It would save time over having to type their name every time into the trip name header. The Palm program, MileageX had this, and it was very helpful...

Hopefully you see all my comments as constructive criticism. I'm trying to help make your app the best and simplest mileage logger in the store, which I believe it could be with the above-mentioned changes!
