### 2/5 — Voice acting

*2025-12-21, version 1.0*

I get that Tim had a stroke. And maybe it was totally impossible to re-use the original recordings. But there’s really no excuse for using the performance of the guy doing Gabriel. It’s comically bad. This ruins the whole game. Almost every bad review cites it. Destiny replaced Dinklage, do the right thing and fix this game.
*edit: I didn’t realize it’s been 13 years already, just do another rerelease

### 4/5 — Great game iOS version has framerate issues

*2025-03-15, version 1.0*

Great game. My review is about game on iOS. Just as fun as the Erika Reed game, however that one plays smoother. This one has framerate issues and locks up briefly a seconds or 2 sometimes when the characters speak. When skipping voices it sometimes fast forwards a whole screen so i miss what is said. The Erika Reed game didn’t have these issues. All that said, i hope the other Gabriel Knight games are also released on iOS so i can enjoy them on my iPad.

### 3/5 — Needs update

*2023-06-15*

Very slow and choppy gameplay running on m1 ipad. I would not consider buying the chapters unless this is fixed.

### 3/5 — Very buggy

*2022-01-08, version 1.0*

Great classic game and a good port with new graphics and voice acting. However, it seems like the app is in need of an update as it has quite a few bugs. Firstly it has no sound unless I connect my Bluetooth headphones. Not possible to get sound out of my iPad for some reason. It will also freeze every time you exit the app and re-open it. You need to force close the app and relaunch the entire thing to make it work - which also means needing to save constantly otherwise you will lose progress.

Beware of these issues before buying. Would be 5 stars if these issues were addressed in a new update.

### 4/5 — Fun to play an old classic

*2020-12-27, version 1.0*

Loved Gabriel Knight when I played it in the 90s. This is a pretty good update. Got me hooked.

Didn’t mind the voice acting unlike some reviews.

Biggest problem was the zombies in the snake mound. Very glitchy. Very frustrating. But I lucked through it once.

Overall fun, good game.

### 2/5 — Can’t buy Day 2 onwards

*2020-01-30, version 1.0*

Really enjoying the game so far but unable to purchase any of the days after Day 1. Any ideas? (iPad Pro 10.5in / iOS 13)

### 4/5 — Great game, need to fix bugs

*2018-12-30, version 1.0*

The plot and the gameplay are great. However, a lot of bugs are frustrating. Not only the animation is weird at times (characters moving backwards, heads flying off etc), but I also have quest objects disappearing or the order of events getting broken. Not great for a game that’s more than $10.

### 3/5 — Decent game

*2018-11-12, version 1.0*

Ruined by greed - £2.99 for the subsequent (and very short I might add) parts. I’d begrudgingly pay £4.99 for it in it’s entirety, but as it stands it’s ridiculously overpriced.

### 2/5 — Not best value

*2017-06-06, version 1.0*

Good game but iPad does not work well with the old point and click game. Controls are VERY poor and in reflection I would say the game in this version is very overpriced.
You can buy the entire windows version for less than one slice of this.

### 3/5 — Where is the sound?

*2016-11-03, version 1.0*

I am a huge fan of the original and visually the update is stunning but where is the sound?

I am playing on an iPad Mini 2 running iOS 10.1 but the game has no sound despite force quirs and restarts.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2016-09-04, version 1.0*

Amazing version of the game, the voices are very similar to the original. Worth buying for sure.

### 5/5 — Great port of an old classic

*2016-05-21, version 1.0*

This was a great buy. Gorgeous graphics, not buggy, and challenging puzzles at times. Sometimes I definitely resorted to reading an Internet walk through because it's been so long since I played the original. I agree that the voice acting is pretty humorous. I appreciated that you can see all the interactive parts on the screen, and that the journal can also provide hints. Interesting way of charging for the game; I guess selling it in chunks of days helps not scare people away with an upfront $10+ price tag.

### 5/5 — LOVE IT!!!!!!! Visit Phoenix online for The Silver Lining too!

*2016-01-24, version 1.0*

What more can I say? Has to be one of the best games on iOS! Absolutely LOVE this game... Was well worth the money and the wait! The game lasted a long time so that was excellent.... I love point and click games and I get so stuck in them that sometimes I finish them within a day or 2.... Although I was trying to force myself to take more time with this game, I was happy it went on for so long.... I can't wait for more Gabriel knight games! And more Phoenix online games.... Also, go to their website to play the silver lining! It's free and it's so awesome! Waiting for episode 5 though!

### 5/5 — More please!

*2015-12-30, version 1.0*

Thoroughly enjoyable game, can't wait for more of Gabriel.

### 5/5 — Angel Heart Movie

*2015-11-02, version 1.0*

This game is so awesome! It was inspired by the movie Angel Heart with Mickey Rourke.

That alone is so cool. I remember the movie and buying this game my sophomore year at U of M.

It's just great that they re released this!!! I watched the movie on Netflix again tonight and thought about this game!

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2015-10-16, version 1.0*

I'm so happy and grateful this game has been resurrected for the iPad! I played it on floppy disks and loved it then and loved it now. It's a real story with real mysteries to solve, varied clues and puzzles, a world of interesting locations to visit and characters to talk to, and just plain fun to play. I was completely engaged. There's a real learning curve to the gameplay, though, and I was helped by an online walkthrough that taught me certain things about how to play. I won't add them here for fear of spoiling. But I nearly deleted the game in the free part because I didn't understand quite how to play. Once I got a few tips, though, I was off and running and spent days with SotF like I would with a good book, always looking forward to getting back to it. Worth every penny of the purchase price to play through to the end! Thank you, developers!

### 1/5 — BLACK SCREEN

*2022-10-01, version 1.0*

This series is one of my favorites that I have on DVD: however, it will download and show the menu, then is goes completely Black with sound.

### 1/5 — Unable to progress because of a bug!!

*2021-04-12, version 1.0*

PLEASE PLAY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! See last point.

The story is really engaging and very interesting. I also liked the new graphics even though I had never played the original game. The music is also quite good and fits the game really well.

With all that said there are several issues with this remaster. The UI is really cumbersome and can be annoying at times. I don’t like the way you pick objects (select object on inventory, close inventory, tap on object to use it with and then use it). As actions happen with one tap I end up getting things wrong by mistake. Specially when trying to dismissing the object menu. If you tap on an exit by mistake to dismiss it you will leave the room. However, you will eventually get used to it.

The worst - the game is plagued with bugs:
- Had a few issues issues like characters going through things or not doing their expect animation. These are ok as they don’t ruin the experience that much.
- On my iPad Pro 2020 the game freezes every time I leave the app and return to it. The only solution is kill to it, open it again and resume the last save.
- I got stuck without being able to proceed at all. I didn’t get a location on the map (Gedde’s Mansion). The only solution was to load an older save game and do everything again from the previous day. This made me waste so much time. I though I couldn’t figure out the solution and only when I checked the walkthrough I figured out it was a bug and not my fault.

### 1/5 — Cannot get past the voice acting for Gabriel

*2020-07-14, version 1.0*

Played the original version of this on my pc many moons ago and loved it so I thought I’d give this one a try. All I can say is was Gabriel such a revolting sleaze in the first game? I remember him as being borderline sometimes, but mostly a decent and likeable character - maybe it was how Tim Curry voiced the character, maybe changes in dialog - IDK. What I do know is I absolutely cannot stand him or the slimey way he is voiced in this version - only made it a few scenes in and could not take it anymore. Other voice acting as far as I got seemed fine. Great game but I cannot recommend this version - get the original from GOG and play that.

### 1/5 — I really wanted to like it but..

*2016-08-22, version 1.0*

I just can't get the mime to follow me. Why should this task be so difficult? After two days of fruitless attempts I am now going to erase the game so I'm not tempted to try anymore. And seriously fix the voices. Barf! Oh well..

### 1/5 — Too expensive...

*2015-07-31, version 1.0*

As much as I like the game... It's way too expensive... Why don't you just put a price for the whole thing instead of making us pay for few days???

### 1/5 — Almost 2gb game really??

*2015-07-25, version 1.0*

For an app...seriously puhlease

### 1/5 — My opinion

*2015-07-25, version 1.0*

Is one of the worse game I ever seen in my life

### 1/5 — Meh

*2015-07-24, version 1.0*

Only Day 1 is free, and it only takes about an hour to complete. Ripoff! Clunky controls. Interesting story though.

### 1/5 — Unbearable!

*2015-07-24, version 1.0*

Who in the world chose THAT guy to voice Gabriel Knight?
Can't stand it for a minute, I'm out.

### 1/5 — Why no achievements????

*2015-07-23, version 1.0*

The Steam version has achievements.
Is it laziness not to include them in the iOS version?
It feels like part of the game is missing and that's unfair.
Please fix this in the next update.

### 5/5 — Love this game!!!!

*2024-07-28, version 1.0*

This is one of the best games ever! 👍

### 5/5 — Awesome point and click adventure

*2024-02-17, version 1.0*

I love being able to play these top notch adventure titles on my iPad. Great difficulty setting, got stuck in a few places but only temporarily. Music is awesome, tracks were running through my head for days afterwards.

### 5/5 — Worth the price

*2023-04-12, version 1.0*

I really wish they’d make the sequels available for iOS.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2023-01-08, version 1.0*

Absolutely superb game in every way. Can’t believe anyone would moan about price when it’s so cheap! So much effort goes into making games to give joy for others who just don’t appreciate it, it’s shameful. I loved every minute, worth every penny and more.

### 5/5 — A classic remastered

*2020-04-20, version 1.0*

Beautifully done, I played the original but all puzzles seem new to since so much time has passed. Hope they continue the series.

### 5/5 — This is amazing

*2017-10-10, version 1.0*

I already have a PC copy of this remastered version.
I just finished the Chapter 1 and really liked the experience.
I’m about to purchase the remaining chapters as well.

### 5/5 — This game is amazing!

*2017-07-02, version 1.0*

I grew up on Sierra games in the mid 90's and the Gabriel Knight trilogy was by far my favorite. It still has all of it's charm and thanks to this game I finally decided to visit New Orleans for the first time last year. I've been back 3 times since. I'd love to take a Gabriel Knight tour or maybe I will just make my own... Thanks a million to Jane J for this incredible work of art and to all of the team at Phoenix for their hard work!

### 5/5 — Wonderful Remastered Classic

*2016-11-26, version 1.0*

It was so nice to see this beautiful old Sierra game remastered and made available for play again. Even the voices felt very true to the original, and in some cases actually sounded a little more polished than I remember. It was an excellent story back when it was on PC, and it was nostalgic and awesome to get to play through it again with the updated graphics. Definitely worth a look.

### 5/5 — A classic reborn

*2016-11-06, version 1.0*

Gabriel Knight is one of the best interactive fiction games from the height of the genre. The remake brings the classic back to life without destroying the charm of the original. Great job!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2016-10-02, version 1.0*

***love this whole series, brings back great memories. Would love to see shivers be made available too, way to go and thank you
