### 5/5 — Best Workout App

*2025-01-08*

I’ve tried just about every workout app. Not only is this simple, but it’s not pushing you to buy the premium version. You can create as many routines as you want and create new exercises if it’s not in their extensive list of exercises. I 100% recommend anyone looking to track their workouts use this app!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-01-02, version 3.1.6*

I’ve tried a bunch of workout tracker apps and this is by far the best one. Very simple and easy to use would definitely recommend to anyone looking to improve in the gym.

### 5/5 — Simple, no-nonsense tracker

*2024-12-16, version 3.1.6*

Lovely workout tracking app that has everything I need !

Is there any way to retroactively add in workouts? I write mine on paper but I like to see the progress on the chart. If it’s not a feature yet, I’d love to see it in the future :)

### 5/5 — Only workout you need!

*2024-12-15*

Simple, intuitive, easy to use, fully featured. What more can I say? I tried a dozen other apps and none came close to this one! Recommend to all my friends!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words! Yes, all the features you’re using (and many more to come) are 100% free! There will be a new subscription coming soon that will introduce some even more powerful stuff for you, but everything you’re seeing now will always be free!

### 5/5 — Beautiful design.

*2024-12-06, version 3.1.6*

This app has a clean minimalist design and it’s very intuitive to use! Kudos to the developer!

### 5/5 — Simple and powerful

*2024-09-27, version 3.1.4*

Solid and easy to use. Even the free version!

### 5/5 — Apple Watch

*2024-08-26, version 3.1.3*

Is there a possibility this could come out for Apple Watches

### 5/5 — Tracking my progress

*2024-07-18*

The app is smooth, and makes tracking my workout progress so easy. Use this app every workout! Saving routines makes it very quick! Love an app that focuses on the details.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words!

### 5/5 — Simply Stunning (+ Functional)

*2024-07-08*

I’ve tried a few workout apps to keep track of my routine progress, but I can hands down say that this is one of, if not, the best workout routine tracker app I have every used. With the aesthetics and design similar to an IOS app, and the data manipulation possibilities of Excel, it is an amazing app for tracking workouts, especially for free!

Dear developer, thank you for making something free and actually useful for individuals

If I were to add one thing to the app, it would be Apple Watch adaptability for a more synchronized experience :)

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the kind words!

### 5/5 — Simple and to the point

*2024-06-22*

Perfect gym app it keeps things simple while also providing stats. Menu is easy on the eye and not cluttered. Doesn’t over complicate things. Weight input presets make life easier as well! Free version gets more than the job done! I’d be interested in a the paid version if there were a 1 time lifetime cost instead of yearly or monthly.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words!

### 5/5 — Best tracking app for lifting

*2024-05-31, version 3.0.1*

- UI is simple and effective
- Does not over-advertise premium subscription
- Free tier has all of the essential features: custom exercises, custom sets, built in timer that works with Dynamic Island, creating routines, built in charts to track progress, and many many more
- Does not try to cram any useless features into the app

Using the app is so intuitive and feels clean. It’s very obvious every part of the app has been thoughtfully designed by someone who works out and also wants to use their own app.

Suggestion:
The plus icon in the home screen opens up a drop down where exercise is first and routine is the second item. While the “Log activity” button under “Today” has a dropdown with routine first and exercise second. Keeping them consistent would require users to not have to think when trying to click quickly.

### 5/5 — Definitely worth it

*2024-05-16, version 3.0.1*

Very solid app. Great for tracking workouts.

### 5/5 — Cool app

*2024-04-30, version 3.0.1*

Let’s you simply log your own work out. It’s a great little app.

### 5/5 — Simple. Effective. Tracking.

*2024-04-13, version 3.0.1*

Love this app. Best workout tracker around for lifting. So quick and easy to use. Can see my gains over time. Progress is the ultimate motivator!

### 5/5 — Great App!! Integration with apple health needed.

*2024-03-18*

It is a good app. Easy tracking workouts. Charts work fine as well. The integration with apple health is missing. The data sharing with apple health will make this the best app for this category.

### 5/5 — Perfect - Simple and Easy

*2024-03-10, version 2.8.16*

I was searching for a simple, easy app to log workouts and weights. This fit the bill 100%. I can create routines, quickly see my records and push for more gains. The interface is clean and straightforward. No extra unneeded features and no upgrades to get what I need!

### 5/5 — Solid workout tracker

*2024-03-09, version 2.8.16*

Great app if you just want to track your workouts. Has everything you need and the interface is sleek. Perfect app if you don’t want the fuss and paywalls that comes with most fitness tracking apps.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 2/5 — Can't change date

*2024-03-04, version 2.8.16*

Can't change date, so frustrating

### 2/5 — Good start

*2022-03-17*

Good start and UI but some bugs when selecting certain features causing app to crash and maybe it would be more convenient to have an option to type in weight or reps cuz no one wants to scroll for too long. Maybe allow different set counts for different exercises for the same day.

**Developer response:** Hey there. I’m actively working on upgrading Gains and fixing all of the crashes and bugs. Can you update your app to the latest version and let me know if it has improved?

If you have any further support concerns, please email me at the support email provided on the App Store page or within the app itself (in the Settings screen)

### 2/5 — I find this app hard as a beginner

*2017-03-08*

Should include some description of what these complicated sounding exercises actually are. Put an illustration or a .gif in there.

### 2/5 — Ok app. Other apps offer better features

*2016-03-06, version 1.2.2*

Not sure why this app doesn't offer the option to pre-load workouts. Momentum is lost re-entering a routine every time.

### 3/5 — A lot of set up required

*2025-03-16*

Takes a long time to create routines. Most of my workouts weren’t in the app so they had to be added manually. The app crashed after about 15 minutes of setup and lost my routine. Decent enough once fully set up and you learn all the kinks.

### 3/5 — Ok but very basic

*2024-02-24, version 2.8.16*

Missing many exercises, even simple ones (Chest Press, Pec Fly, etc)

Extremely obtuse way to log previous days(‘) workouts as everything defaults to present day.

It’s a clean app, simple (which is what I want) but lacking in so many QoL features.

### 3/5 — Great! But needs like 10% more

*2018-12-14*

This is super straight forward and I love it. I especially love the simple weight input buttons (45, 35, 25 etc). BUT in regards to tracking lifts over a long period of time, it’s hard to see how far you’ve improved, a simple chart would be best or “worst set” added to the list that’s there now maybe as a short term improvement. Also, it’s also hard to know the math on which set has been your best set to begin for a starting weight to improve upon without digging into the data. Even just having a calculated estimated 1 rep max would be helpful to set goals with. Overall I will keep using this app with hopes for a few minor additions in the future that will help better track, load weights, and set my goals without hindering the simplicity that I’ve come to enjoy.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback! I’m working on basically all of your suggestions!

### 4/5 — Great starter workout app!

*2025-12-11*

This is a great workout app and probably one of the best ones I had found when I initially started working out. I used this app for probably two years. It’s simple, easy to use, and has a really nice interface. It does almost everything you need without all the extra bloat of other apps. Eventually, I switched to a more complex app because I wanted additional features that didn’t seem like they were in the Gains pipeline, which is fine. The only real downside to the Gains app is that you can’t plan future workouts and it’s not possible to re-order sets and routines if your workout changes while you’re doing it. This app is really designed to enter your workout as you’re doing it. If you use the routine feature and have it bring the sets in from that you can’t re-order them if you do them out of order from what is shown. As a Taipei personality that kind of annoyed me. Otherwise, though, this is a perfect app for most people starting out in the gym or just casual gym goers. Highly recommend!!!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words! Yes, all the features you’re using (and many more to come) are 100% free! There will be a new subscription coming soon that will introduce some even more powerful stuff for you, but everything you’re seeing now will always be free!

### 4/5 — Great

*2025-10-23, version 3.5.2*

Looks clean, tracks exercises, sets and weights as needed. Shows previous numbers when you do an exercise again so you can easily remember where you were last time. Wish a couple things from the subscription were free, but that's what makes people pay I guess. Kinda wish there was a one time purchase option instead of a subscription. Even free though, this app is great and does everything I need it to.

### 4/5 — A few features missing

*2024-01-12*

- Please add the ability to log an exercise after logging a routine for the day
- Please make the timer show up wherever you are in the app. It’s really useful
- perhaps add a weight calculator?

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! In fact, you can add exercises after logging a routine. Just hit the circular button with the “+” and you can log additional individual exercises as much as you’d like

I’ll look into your other feedback as well!

### 5/5 — Just what I need

*2026-05-21*

Can’t believe this app is free and ad free. Been using it for over a year and it’s perfect for my needs. It’s very simple, you can build workouts, track progress, all in a sleek app. Feature request: love to see trend lines for super sets over time. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Major Slay

*2026-03-25, version 3.6.4*

You’re looking at the best fitness app out there. Beautiful and intuitive interfaces soothe all weary muscle-freak kind and lead the uninitiated to hotness— major slay. Stop reading this and buy it now, nerd.

### 5/5 — Flawless

*2026-01-12, version 3.6.4*

Easy, intuitive, simple, and well designed .

### 5/5 — Great workout tracking

*2025-10-24, version 3.5.2*

It’s a great app, with some minor bugs. I would gladly pay to buy the full featured version, but I am not going to pay a subscription.

### 5/5 — Well designed and thought out

*2025-10-09*

I’ve been using this app for over a year now. It is beautifully designed but more importantly I enjoy how detailed and visual all my traction can be. Has all the details I want to specify things. Most apps who have a fraction of these features feel bulky and confusing and look gross. This one is easy to navigate and has more features than others I’ve found.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words!

### 5/5 — 100% worth it

*2025-09-17, version 3.4.1*

Finally a free gym tracking app thats actually free!! Definitely download worth a try.

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2025-08-24, version 3.3.2*

App is perfect. Im not a solid routine type of guy but I do like to track my progress. This app is perfect for freestyle type of lift sessions. You can also build routines if that’s more your speed.

### 5/5 — Just honest

*2025-08-13, version 3.2.9*

Best app free app (as of right now) for tracking lifting routines. I love it

### 5/5 — Love - Would like Apple Watch Compatiblity

*2025-03-21*

Really like this app. It’s the most clean and aesthetically pleasing workout tracker I’ve seen so far (and yes that matters to me LOL). Would love if there was apple watch compatibility down the line, or maybe it’s in the works ?. Definitely recommending to my friends and I like how I don’t really need to attach my exercise to a routine. Sometime sal I just do whatever is readily available in gym.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words. I read all of the feedback from my users and add things to my roadmap accordingly, so thank you for the suggestion!

### 5/5 — Super, everything you need, no nonsense

*2025-01-26*

I love this app! It’s everything I want in a simple format. Easy to use, nice design, very flexible for different workout approaches. It has everything - custom exercises, super sets, charts of progress, a rest timer, visibility when in other apps via “Dynamic Island”, everything I need (and want)! Only dislike is the neon green color (but one could pay to modify the accent color, in addition other more useful features in the pay version - which I haven’t tried). Super duper app!
