### 4/5 — Great Workouts!

*2026-07-29, version 1.9.14*

I love this app! I love the progress I am seeing with the program I am using. If I could make one suggestion I wish there was a spot to log the weight you chose on past workouts to make sure you are progressing. Sometimes I forget which weight I used last week and I like to challenge myself

### 4/5 — Great workouts!

*2026-07-25, version 1.9.14*

The workouts and programs themselves are 10/10! The price is really fair for the value imo, the video clips and explainers are really helpful, and the programs are easy to stick to but still challenging as you progress. I don’t find the other uses (recipes, habit tracking, etc.) very intuitive so I don’t use them. My only improvement for the workouts would be a place to add notes when you’re entering reps and weight.

### 2/5 — App needs work

*2026-06-30, version 1.9.13*

I love the workout programs and split. I really feel like the programs are amazing. But the way the app works with the workout is so disappointing. I wish there was a way to add more pause to set up for the next exercise. I also wish there was more coaching while doing it.

### 4/5 — ?

*2026-05-29, version 1.9.10*

Can you make it so the ap doesn’t let your phone fall asleep during the rest timer

### 3/5 — A few bugs to sort out

*2026-05-07*

Love the app, user experience is handy. I just tried onboarding 3 times though, and wanted to activate a new program and it had an error unable to process your request bug. Plz help I’d love to get properly set up <3

### 4/5 — Loving 95%

*2026-03-28, version 1.9.10*

Living this app and the follow along videos. I do with there were ways to pause during a timed workout, as well as the workouts flowing without having to press the next one in line. Besides that I am obsessed with her production!

### 4/5 — Some of the interface is clunky

*2026-03-18*

Wish that each set had a Go button to start the timer instead of auto timer. And the scroll between exercises should be a vertical scroll, not horizontal, to make it easier to go to each exercise if you’re doing it out of order. The survey at the beginning about goals was a little confusing since all the programs sounded similar and my goals were pretty broad. I felt like the program they matched me to actually didn’t fit what i wanted. Would be easier just to select what program I wanted based on the choices (pull/push, lower upper split, high cardio, etc). Other than that I’m liking it so far and enjoy the habit tracker. Also - add a place where you can track your weights so you’re progressively overloading!

### 2/5 — Want to love it but running into issues

*2026-02-06, version 1.9.6*

I want to love this app because I’m a big fan of Sophie, but I really don’t like that you have to “add to planner” with workouts that are there instead of freely being able to play the workout and not add it to a program. Also, I know it’s made for iPhones but it would be great if it was compatible with iPads. It’s not and the workout gets covered by the box that has rep input logging. Lastly, even though everyone has different levels they’re at, I think it’s pretty important to have some idea of what weights Sophie is using so we can either know what to work towards or have an idea of what not to use (in terms of something being too low or high in weight).

I adore the meals tab, and the new calm meditation addition is nice as well. But I do think it needs some layout help and changes.

Honestly at this point just staying on for the recipes lol which makes it hard to justify paying for this app…it’s easier to just do and follow her workouts on YouTube.

### 3/5 — It’s okay

*2026-01-27, version 1.9.6*

She’s so knowledgeable and I’ve followed her for a long time. But it’s hard to work out and consistently walk back or look at the phone for the next exercise. It wastes so much time. I wish she could provide at least some narration or just calling out what exercises/ how long. Like a personal trainer or one of her videos.

### 2/5 — Needs improvement..

*2026-01-22*

I wanted to like the app, but it’s too frustrating during active workouts for me to continue using it. You can’t easily skip a move and come back to it (if equipment is unavailable) without it freezing. You can’t reorder workout moves, but I do like that you can choose alternates. It constantly would delete my reps and weight information despite saving each time which is the main reason I’m done with it. There’s also no log of previously completed workouts (that I could find) to easily see your progress. There’s no Apple Watch feature (not a huge deal). I completed some workouts and they didn’t save as completed. I hope this helps because I’d like to come back in the future after more improvements.

### 5/5 — Macro changing

*2026-01-12, version 1.9.5*

Is it possible to change your macros to how you need them?

### 4/5 — USER EXPERIENCE COULD BE BETTER

*2026-01-09, version 1.9.5*

Good app but the UX could be better. Videos sometimes take time to start and show a black screen first. The exercises preview block the main view of the actual exercise making it difficult to see what she is doing, also having to press a button after every exercise and rest period in breaks the workout flow. A continuous automatic sequence after pressing start would make the experience much smoother.

### 5/5 — My favorite fitness app

*2026-01-05, version 1.9.5*

I’ve tried a lot of different fitness apps and this one is hands down the best.

### 5/5 — Needs more info

*2026-01-03*

I'm always confused either with the wording that explains the exercise or how many reps on which legs i should be working. It says 15 reps walking lunges, am i doing 30 all together?? Am i doing 15 steps all together? Same with the warm ups am i supposed to be doing my internal rotations for 30 seconds on one leg then restart the timer and do the other leg? Or am i supposed to alternate legs within the 30 seconds? Everytime you finish a program it won't let you do the last day, when you go to do the last workout it just says congrats you completed this program but won't let you do the last workout, this happened to me 3 times.

### 5/5 — Obsessed

*2025-12-09, version 1.9.2*

This is the first fitness program that I actually believe I’ll see through til the end. I love how careful she is to explain each exercise. 1000/10 recommend!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Couldn’t set my account

*2026-08-15*

You can only use the app if you pay. I tried to get the 14 day free trial version and for some reason couldn’t get the access.

### 1/5 — Fantastic programs but terrible app

*2026-08-05, version 1.9.15*

I have been using the app since 2024 and regularly run into issues with the app. I often times get kick out and can’t get back in, or I lose track of where I was in a program and have to start over. The app has consistently been bad for years and it isn’t worth the headache.

### 1/5 — Not great..

*2026-08-03, version 1.9.14*

If I could give this a 0 star I would..
Buggy as heck, lags and logs you out when you don’t want it too. Erased all my progress and when I tried to start again it would just show an error and log me out again..
When it did decide to work it wasn’t very user friendly and very minimal vegan/vegetarian options..
Disappointed is an understatement.

### 1/5 — it’s not working

*2026-06-09*

:(

**Developer response:** Please email us at support@gainsbybrains.com and we'll make sure to fix any issues you might be experiencing!

### 1/5 — Not working

*2026-06-09, version 1.9.11*

My app was working fine for over a year; however, the new update doesn’t allow it to find a program. In the middle of a program so this is frustrating

### 1/5 — Unable to trial the app

*2025-10-21, version 1.9.2*

It would be nice to have a 3-7 day free trial. I don’t want to pay and not be happy with the app. I wish I could be able to trial this before I commit. It’s a bummer.

### 1/5 — Beendet jedes Programm noch vor Ende der Zeit

*2025-08-31*

Jedes Programm wurde bisher noch vor Ablauf der Zeit einfach beendet.

### 1/5 — Offer a limited but free account

*2025-08-01, version 1.9.0*

It is essential to add a free version of your app for users to explore before deciding if they would like to purchase a subscription or not. Having people pay for a service on an app that they can’t access otherwise does not prioritize the users needs. Please consider adding a free trial, because I (like many others) like to see how an app works first, and it doesn’t matter how good the program or content is if the app functions poorly.

### 1/5 — Why only full body workouts??

*2025-03-18, version 1.7.0*

Have used her guides and followed her vlogs for almost 10 years and extremely disappointed by the workout programming. It is ONLY full body, which does not allow you to target specifically muscle groups to help grow muscle!!! DO BETTER

### 1/5 — Scammed money out of me

*2025-02-18*

I got this app for the 2 week free trial last month in January. The same day I went into the app and it offered me $40 for the entire year, so I purchased it on the spot. The other day I suddenly got charged $100 for a yearly plan. This was 2 weeks after I downloaded the app. My $40 “yearly plan” apparently only lasted two weeks. I didn’t even think to look in my subscription because I assumed one year literally meant one year. So I’ve now paid $140 in 2 weeks for 2 yearly subscriptions.

The in app support is useless as they “don’t deal with transactions” and Apple is fighting to refund me the $100. I’m not sure why my promotional offer didn’t seem to update in my subscriptions, but I feel very scammed out of money and am very disappointed.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Blown away

*2026-07-18, version 1.9.13*

This app has blow my mind. I’m consistently going to the gym for the first time ever. No more days of not knowing what to do, or how to do it, everything I need is here. Thank you so much!

### 5/5 — Making progress

*2026-07-15, version 1.9.13*

I love the hourglass program. It’s 20 weeks and I’m about 16 weeks in. I’ve put on some muscle and my waist is smaller. I love the start to finish warm up and cool down so I don’t have to plan or think about a thing, I just get started.

### 5/5 — Long term user

*2026-06-28, version 1.9.13*

Always go back to this app! I like the confidence it gives me in the gym, functional and great options depending on goals

### 5/5 — Love

*2026-06-25, version 1.9.13*

Changed my life, not only the workouts, but the eating as well, it’s okay to have balance, it’s okay to have a rest day, highly recommend

### 5/5 — What I wanted

*2026-05-30, version 1.9.10*

This app has workouts for home or gym. You can switch up the workouts or change them out for other similar ones. It has a macro calculator built in so you can track and it has food recipes you can make for your goals. Great app it’s what I was looking for and after only 2 weeks of use I was already getting very wanted results!

### 5/5 — Now I cycle, lift and stretch

*2026-04-25, version 1.9.10*

This app has opened up my eyes for new experience in fitness. The exercises I do are diverse, better executed, and I feel safe to progressively overload. Finding recipes that are healthy, truly delicious and satisfying are all here too! Honestly try it, there is way more than I mentioned. Recipes can easily be modified to make more servings. Men if you are reading this let me tell you it’s for you too… have a great time!

### 5/5 — Easy to be consistent

*2026-04-23*

I’ve been using this app for over a year now and been loving the improvements. There’s so many workout apps out there & tried some of them but I would come back to this one because it’s the most user friendly. I like that it curates a program for you & I can alternate workouts if the machine if occupied.

A big plus is the habit tracker, I chose 3 goals & it’s helps me be consistent. I sometimes use the recipes (highly recommend the bagel one!). I can add workouts to my schedule and love that it beeps when the timer is almost up.

Here’s my cons about it; I wish it would beep for the timer while the phone is off. It would also be awesome if it connected to smart watches. It sometimes stops the music you are listening to or lowers the volume for longer than needed.

Overall this helped me a lot during my graduate studies since I barely had time, do new workouts I was scared of with its video instructions, and financially since I was a broke college student and it was one of the least expensive options.

### 5/5 — Best App I’ve Ever Used

*2026-04-13*

I love this App for the convenience it offers and simplicity. This is an app that literally reads your mind. I almost feel like I built this App for myself and my needs. I will forever support it as it solved major problems for me as someone who gets overwhelmed easily and quits whenever things get complicated. It tracks my progress, it suggests a workout plan for me, helps me with recipes, and my favorite thing is that I can adjust my schedule. This app definitely supports flexibility and feels tailored to every possible need.

### 5/5 — Life changing

*2026-04-08, version 1.9.10*

Gains by Brains has honestly changed my life 🤍

It’s the first program I’ve stayed consistent with—quick, effective workouts that fit my schedule. I’ve gotten leaner, stronger, and more toned without feeling overwhelmed.

Once I focused on my nutrition and hitting my protein, everything clicked.

So grateful for Gaby Scheyen for creating something that truly works 💪✨

### 5/5 — Love it! So worth the subscription!

*2026-04-05, version 1.9.10*

The interface is super easy to navigate and the app makes the programs are so easy to
follow - very aesthetically pleasing. Lots of guidance, super customizable and formatting makes it a joy to use. And they are super on top of adding in new features consistently to make it even better. Loving the recent add of editing the weekly exercises and habit tracking!
