## What is Galactic Compass?

Galactic Compass presents you with a floating arrow with one purpose: to point the direction of the central supermassive black hole of the Milky Way galaxy, known as Sagittarius A*.

The middle of the galaxy is 26,000 light years.. but which way?

The direction depends on:

- the time of day
- your location
- the position of the Earth in its orbit

It's hard to figure out in your head.

Well now the answer is in your pocket. If you're ever lost, Galactic Compass can show you the way.

## Key features

- Points to Sagittarius A*
- Dynamic direction calculation
- Location-based guidance
- Time-of-day adjustment
- Earth orbit consideration

### 5/5 — Surprisingly grounding

*2025-09-19*

Just try occasionally opening it, orienting yourself, and really sitting in the feeling it gives you. I’m often surprised by how grounding it can be. Perhaps only for the kind of nerds for whom it’s easy to conjure an image of the galaxy and our place in it, but if you definitely give it a try!

### 5/5 — Photo Mode

*2025-01-02*

Have you tried it with the camera feed as background?

### 5/5 — My favorite app.

*2024-12-31*

This is my single favorite app on the iPhone. It’s simple, it’s profound, it collects no user data. It’s just a pure little nugget of fun that represents exactly what the App Store should be. Thank you for it, and if you release a premium version that includes no more features other than the price, I’ll still be one of your first customers

### 3/5 — iPad problem

*2024-09-18, version 1.5*

Shows wrong direction on iPad in landscape

### 5/5 — I use it often

*2024-06-30*

Performs as advertised. Does the job and does it well. Handy dopamine burst.

### 5/5 — Comfort

*2024-06-25*

We should all feel some level of comfort knowing where we stand. This app gives us one more level of that in a very fun and philosophical way!

### 5/5 — Find your center, they said

*2024-04-03*

I had no idea I needed this app but it turns out I NEEDED this app. It’s incredibly simple to use, and without fail it shows me the exact vector to follow in order to find the supermassive black hole in the core of the Milky Way galaxy. Hard to describe the moment of perspective and joy this brings me, but it most assuredly does.

### 5/5 — Simply mind blowing

*2024-03-31*

So clean and simple in its execution, yet delightfully mind blowing in drawing a personal connection between the user and the center of the galaxy. I open this often just out of curiosity, or to show whoever happens to be in the room with me at the time. Well done!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app…

*2024-03-29, version 1.4*

This is THE most fantastic AND useless app you can install on your iPhone.
However, it’s a great conversation starter that will demonstrate how much smarter you are than all your friends.
On the negative side, show the app to your friends too many times and quickly you will have no friends!
🥹😃😄😁😆🙁☹️🫤🫢😵‍💫😴
I really like this app!

### 5/5 — Great Idea!

*2024-03-11, version 1.3*

I like that it’s simple and does one thing. Please don’t do any add-ons. It’s perfect as it is.
