### 5/5 — Finally! A must for Star Wars fans!

*2026-10-03*

App works great - you can tell it’s a labor of love from a true fan. Must have if you’re going to the parks. Reads all Aurebesh well, even if some of the fonts are a bit unusual. Translated it better than I could with a manual translation card when it was hard to make out what characters were being used.
Updates and improvements only make it better.

**Developer response:** Thanks! Got some more fun updates on the way too!

### 5/5 — My go-to resource for all things Aurebesh

*2026-09-28*

This app is a fantastic combination of form and function. The app does a great job of translating Aurebesh in realtime from live video or from a saved image. It does not only translate perfectly written Aurebesh - it works adeptly at recognizing the kind of hand written characters you might find on signage around Galaxy’s Edge as well. If that was all it did, this would be a great app, but the developer went way beyond that by making an interface that feels at-home in the Star Wars universe, including a scanning animation among others. There is also an Aurebesh character sheet, in addition to the core translation capability. Truly one of the most fun and useful apps I’ve ever used.

**Developer response:** Thanks! I appreciate the review!

### 5/5 — Awesome idea!

Finally someone did something we felt was always missing from any SW experience!

**Developer response:** Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 26.10.1 — 2026-10-08

Minor bug fixes.

### 26.10.0 — 2026-09-30

Lots of fun stuff:
- Scanning is now easier. Take a screenshot, hit the share icon, and now Galactic Decoder will appear as an option. Likewise for photos, files, etc. Shortcuts are neat, but extensions are a lot easier, and no install needed.
- Layout improvements. More room for the scanner on iPads, and better layout overall for other device sizes
- New tab bar. More room for other controls, and it plays a lot nicer with those fancy new folding datapads on the way.
- Improvements to word groupings. When scanning in word mode, the app is better at prioritizing horizontal rows of text, instead of vertical. Fewer odd groupings of letters that are close vertically, but are really part of a horizontally-aligned word.
- Other misc. bug fixes that I'm likely the only one who ever noticed.

### 26.9.0 — 2026-09-17

Shortcuts and the Zoomies!

SHORTCUTS: You can now use Shortcuts to scan Aurebesh. Open your photos from Photos directly for scanning in Galactic Decoder.
AUTO-ZOOM: Once a image scan completes, the app will now zoom in to make smaller text easier to read.
PINCH & ZOOM: Get a closer look in live mode by pinching and zooming.
SCANNING: Overall improvements to the scanning engine.

### 26.8.0 — 2026-09-13
