But I'm blinded by the white bar across the bottom. I hold my hand over it to watch but get tired of bothering. Hide that bar and I'll give it another try. ### 4/5 — Could use dark matter hall simulator *2016-01-06* It's quite a beautiful and rather accurate simulation of galaxy mergers. In answer to two other reviews of the current version, there is an option to increase or decrease the amount of time between each reset, along with allowing the simulation to run without reset. Also, the disintegration of the galaxy occurs when the black holes at the centers of each galaxy merge and rocket into a random direction faster than escape velocity. This only happens in galaxy simulations with low or no dark matter halos. Dark matter also effects the shape and rotation of the stars, themselves. Without DMH, the stars will rotate as in this simulation, swirling like water around the central black hole, with the outer stars rotating significantly more slowly than the inner stars. With the inclusion of DMH, the outer stars rotate at about the same rate as the inner stars due to the gravitational influence of the halo. This causes the spiral shape and stellar velocities that are actually observed in spiral galaxies. Dark matter may also contribute to the shape or formation of central bulge in galaxies. Adding this feature (no idea how feasible from a coding standpoint) could potentially make this app more realistic that it even already is. ### 4/5 — Amazing but could use more parameters. *2015-05-06* I love this app I personally find it very entertaining! I would, however, like more options such as a much higher particle limit, Galaxy thickness and type, The ability to change constants such as gravity, speed of light, etc... I have also come across whet I think is a bug. Being an amateur astronomer and space enthusiast, I can spend lots of time fiddling with and observing the interesting phenomena this app explores. Even if I knew nothing about interacting galaxies, gravity still seems to create a beautiful display of art for anyone who wanted a solid art app. Everything is superb, though I'd absolutely love to see some of my personal suggestions... I see MASSIVE potential for this app! - - *Introduce more astrophysics!* Implement some stellar physics or something! This would surely include a "Realistic Color" setting, which would give galaxies realistic colors according to the age/type of their stars, (gas/dust?) amount of star formation (starbursts and whatnot), ect.! ..Just general astrophysics. -More refined and accurate camera control, and a 'zoom to' function, maybe. AND, I frequently accidentally reset the simulation when moving the camera directly after zooming. Can the reset simulation function be something more complicated than a double tap? -More individual/specialized settings for each galaxy? At the bare minimum for example, the ability to set a custom radius for each galaxy in the simulation. -Custom environments? (ability to use pictures on device for backgrounds) -And I like the speed function. *Just elaborate on this app and it will grow even more spectacular! ### 3/5 — Needs Work *2010-08-21* For each galaxy size, there should be limits set so that crashes do not occur (at 2 galaxies, the max number of stars crashes, this should be fixed, etc). It would be even better if the crashes could be avoided altogether by an increase in efficiency. You can see the deformation as the galaxies approach each other from every angle imaginable. Double the mass of one and watch it tear spirals of stars away from another. Wanna go mental? Try watching 3 galxies slam into each other - the possibilities really are endless! Any chance of adding a time scale (eg millions of years or multiples of speed of light) to the collisions? Maybe start with some assumption about the size of 1 interstellar unit? These are not complaints, merely suggestions. I love this app! ### 4/5 — Neat, but too fast! *2010-03-03* Very interesting app, but needs a slider to control the speed of time. I'd like to watch the physics in slow motion.. Apologies if it's already there, but I couldn't find it in the settings. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — I don't think it was worth it *2015-11-23* The galaxies that i set were the largest possible, i tried two at first then progressively got to 5 at a time. It was pretty neat watching them collide with each other. One of the problems i think it has is that after a certain period of time elapsed the galaxies would reset whether or not they had collided yet or not. Also after they collide completely the entirety of each galaxy disappears. Not trying to bash this app, it is interesting and fun to play around with but it needs some fine tuning and additional settings to make me feel like i didn't just buy an app that i will uninstall and never use again. It says in the help that you can tap on the upper left part of the screen to bring up the settings and that there is a slow motion slider somewhere. I tapped 1000 ways to Tuesday and no settings came up.I could not find The slow-motion slider anywhere and is not in the settings anywhere. Be able to choose stars per galaxy but for each individual galaxy 2. A first person shooter style camera controls instead of the weird wiggle control that I asume is centered in the middle of the grid 1 more 3. The ability to touch and play with the stars. Maybe the tip of ur finger is a black hole. Or the option to put black holes in. Maybe manual placement of the galaxies First two more then any. I play with this app all the time and just watch the sim physics at work. It's like watching clouds form. Very time consuming. Almost can't stop sometimes. Update this app and I'll send u more money.
