And when you’re trying to map a route for jumping the mapping doesn’t always work even when your ship can make it and you instead have to resort to doing it manually. One thing I would love to see. The only game that has sound is this one. If you’re a fan of games like elite or freelancer you’ll love this too. Would kill for mod support on iOS, but I think that’s my only complaint. Currently about 300 hours deep ### 5/5 — “2D” Simplified Elite Dangerous *2025-03-19, version 1.6.5* This game borrows a good amount from Elite Dangerous and even a bit from the old Space Pirate game (that was around ages ago, which was really a space trading game). While it’s a top-down 2D title, it’s well laid out, has a solid amount of missions, several flushed-out game loops, and a primary mission/storyline to undertake. And, perhaps best of all, the game’s creator is active on Discord and Reddit and does take into consideration what people ask or suggest. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but then again, neither is Elite Dangerous. But for those looking for an engaging space trading, combat and missioning sandbox with a story set within it, it’s an excellent game. ### 5/5 — This is insane for mobile *2025-03-16, version 1.6.5* Alright this is on parr with elite dangerous in terms of core game mechanics, probably better because you get the foundation of elite but this game gets rid of the all the pointless “freedom” that elite has which is great for ‘keeping it simple’ which alot of people like. Well done, well worth every dollar! Plus the price is hard to turn down! ### 3/5 — Puzzling *2025-02-21, version 1.6.5* I would’ve preferred this as an email to the developer but since no contact information is listed, I have to do it this way. Mostly this feels like a puzzle game to me because of the lack of necessary information to accomplish things. It reminds me of Endless Sky in this regard especially, and the 2D environment feels similar. There should be a wiki that explains trade, combat, exploration, etc.: and in-depth! Not just the broad, generic overview under the information tab which is almost worthless if one needs information on how to actually play the game. As it is, I spend more time trying to figure out how to complete a storyline mission than actually playing the game. Aside from the self-explanatory freight or courier missions listed, there’s zero information about the “station needs” or donation ones, so I just ignore them now since they apparently only exist to destroy my reputation. I mean it looks like it’s probably a great game and I mostly like it. But better information from developer would be appreciated. ### 5/5 — Top Down Elite Dangerous *2025-02-10, version 1.6.5* Really solid game 5/5. If you played Elite Dangerous then you will love this mobile take on the same style, discord is active and has a decent community supporting the game! It uses much of the same functional capability but in 2D (and streamlined to make gameplay more accessible). And best of all, the developer continues to add things in. I’ve tried jumping with them off, tried with them on, tried multiple times, but still not able to jump. ### 1/5 — No joystick *2021-05-26, version 1.1.19* Ripped off Tutorial stuck on repeating the instruction “use virtual joystick in bottom left had corner”. But there is no virtual joystick at all anywhere on the screen. This is more of a hardcore simulation despite being a 2D isometric game that would have been better suited for a more arcade type gameplay. The good parts of the game is that there an incredibly expansive universe to explore and incredible number of customization options to fine tune your ship, and create your own fleet. What turned me off is the horrible flight controls the the tedious amount of time it takes for navigating a star system. Other issues is a lack of an index to explain stat terms like optimal mass which makes me wonder if I’m upgrading my ship the right way. Trading is also too inefficient to be a viable way to make money in game. ### 2/5 — Crashes too often *2024-03-25, version 1.5.25* Very much enjoying the game. I do see potential for it to become a grind doing the same things over and over but right now it is easy to play for hours and not care. It is crashing on me constantly though which just gets frustrating repeating the same mission or having to re-plot courses, find stations again, refight battles, etc. Clicking on the mission menu seems to be the most common crash, which just makes it even more frustrating. Have you seen the cpu power on the new ipad pro ? And what about the graphs available on games in the Arcade? This game reminds my of my youth... on an ATARI, or the original NES. At best is a 2D squashed and botched Elite dangerous wanna be with reminescent game options and items. Game play (controls) is horrible, music is reducing my mental capacity, graphics bring me back to 1995. If you never played the pc version, you will erase this game in the first 10 min. Tutorial is lacking and buggy. Game crashes 50% of the time when trying to load a manual saved game. The other 50% of crashes are random, with nothing special or particular to link the fatal crash to. I am giving a second star because the dev made a good effort in writing his code lines so compact that he got everything in just 111 Mb of space. That is really impressive and I can appreciate !! There have to be better options.” After a little digging, I found Galaxy Genome, and yes, I finally found an iphone game that gives the old NES library a run for its money. It’s not perfect, a little buggy in places, but it is light second ahead of what you usually find on the App Store. It’s basically a 2D Elite Dangerous but with better story, better progression, and better art. I’m not sure why there are people comparing it to elite dangerous: I would just compare it to every good open-world space rpg. It’s not a 4x (or maybe it is but I didn’t get that far yet) it does have many features of games like the X series. It’s similar to a range of other top down soy ace RPGs but slightly far I can say it plays really well whereas many others have control or gameplay issues this feels like everything is the way I would have wanted it.
