## What is Gamut?

Gamut captures colour from the world, checks it, and ships it in the format your work needs.

It's not another colour grabber. Capture is the easy part - Gamut makes the two things most colour apps treat as afterthoughts first-class: getting colour out in developer-grade formats, and keeping it accessible.

Capture
 • Sample from the live camera with a magnified loupe - lock exposure and white balance so the colour is accurate, not whatever auto-exposure guessed.
 • Eyedrop any pixel from a photo, in its true colour space.
 • Enter colour by hex, RGB, HSL, or HSB. Pull several colours from one scene at once.
 • Wide-gamut aware: Display P3 colours are captured and kept as P3, never flattened.

Organise 
 • Build palettes, name and reorder swatches, add notes and tags.
 • Generate a harmony or a tonal ramp from any colour - complementary, analogous, triadic, split-complementary, tetradic, or a full tonal scale (Pro).
 • Your library syncs across your devices through your own private iCloud (Pro).

Check (accessibility, first-class)
 • WCAG contrast between any two colours - AA / AAA, normal / large text / UI components - with a plain verdict: "6.06:1 - passes AA, fails AAA."
 • Tap a failing check to see the nearest colour that passes, with the ratio it reaches and how far it moved (Pro).
 • Simulate colour-vision deficiency across the common types, on a swatch or a whole palette (Pro).
 • Audit a palette for accessible pairings at a glance (Pro).

Export (the payoff)
 • Per-swatch copy and per-palette export to the formats you actually build in: hex lists, CSS custom properties, OKLCH, SwiftUI Color + asset catalog, Tailwind config, JSON, swatch PNGs, Adobe .ase swatches, GIMP .gpl palettes, and W3C DTCG design tokens.
 • Export in sRGB or Display P3; out-of-gamut colours are surfaced, never silently clamped.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-27

Three more export formats: Adobe .ase swatches, GIMP .gpl palettes, and W3C design tokens - alongside the CSS, OKLCH, SwiftUI, Tailwind, JSON and asset-catalog exports already there.

The export list reads as a list again. Samples no longer wrap at ordinary text sizes, so most of the ladder fits on one screen; the full reflow still happens at the largest accessibility sizes.

A second app icon - a points-only version of the mark - switchable from Settings (Pro).
