The first thing (and the last) was it didn’t recognize my Burpee log in. This app is sooooo slow to respond, and soooo buggy. I’ll press a button and nothing happens. So I press it again. Nothing. Again. Nothing. Six or eight button presses later, spread 10-15 seconds apart, a bunch of notifications will pop up at once because it was delayed so much. It will freeze up so I can’t even scroll sometimes. Interface is not intuitive. Nothing is organized well. It recommends plants on the garden page and when I click them it says not recommended for your growing zone. Then why was it on my recommended list?? I can’t say enough about how awful this app is. Now I see why I deleted it several years ago. It clearly has not improved. But within an hour I gave up, disappointed. The problems: 1) very small selection of plants - I can access the Burpee catalog, but can apparently only add from the short lists in "dig in" 2) how-to links for plants lead to general useless information about what you need to find out before planting, nothing about the specific plant 3) no info about soil needs 4) my zip code isn't listed, I have to re-enter in for every garden I create 5) cannot change name of a garden once created 6) no way to search for plants by name, bloom color or other salient features 7) app freezes 8) items entered in gardens do not appear in plan 9) 8) no link to a help file... 😫 ### 1/5 — Faulty *2020-06-25, version 10.3.7* The app really needs some work as it currently has a lot of lag when choosing options. As much as I wanted to see what the app was capable of, it must took too long trying to navigate between pages. Tried to add Roma tomatoes to my garden to no avail: (1) it's not an available selection and (2) once a tomato option was selected, it didn't do anything... Nothing was added. It's a shame. The schedule tab in this app helps me keep track and list to due tasks and upcoming so I can plan accordingly. This one has all the features that I'm looking for, but every time I try to add garlic to my garden the screen locks and I can't scroll down to add it. J really hope they fix it. ### 3/5 — Needs more features. *2017-07-09, version 9.1.0* 1) Facebook login for account creation would allow Burpee to capture consumer demographics. 2) Drag and Drop Aerial Planner for visually-planning people. By default, when a plant is added to the planner, on a different tab, it should appear on a grid based on appropriate transplant spacing. With a finger, the user should be able to design the garden dynamically using their garden idea rather than asking them for current space measurements. This would allow them to better prioritize their garden based on available space without the overwhelming experience of finding out they maybe can't cram it all in from the get-go and becoming discouraged. This aerial view could also eventually export for integration with technological developments in agriculture like Farmbot. 3) Feedback for data analytics on seed variety and demand for sales projections accuracy by city based on current and requested plant variety Intake form. Consumer wants a new plant not listed? Add it and its specifications to allow for planning and use that demand to know what people want to buy instead of just what they buy from Burpee. 4) Account Creation Questionnaire Ground-level garden, planters or raised beds? For nutrients and watering maintenance how-to's. Check Boxes for Full, Partial, and Shade gardens (also potentially water gardens). This would allow for a more dynamic aerial planner. Soil type? Mostly Clay, or rich, peaty top soil? Same as above. Till or no-till? Would grey-out plants that need root isolation from plannable list. Repeat gardener or just for this year enthusiast? This would allow Burpee to determine if Task deferrals should occur if planting certain plants is too late or past due for the current year. 5) Quantity of each plant during plant selection process. For better Aerial Planner experience. 6) Give me a job directing your app development team. I can travel and work remotely and am a Strategic Business Consultant for a Fortune 75 Company. I have more ideas than these and I represent your millennial consumer future. ### 3/5 — Somewhat limited.... *2017-06-08, version 9.1.0* 1) The videos are helpful in a basic way as is the planning info for tasks as they arise for the year. 2) I would have found these features very helpful: --The ability to search for info beyond my growing zone. I am growing at least one plant out only zone (peanuts) but could not find it on the list of vegetables provided to me, nor was there a search feature to allow me to find/ add it --it would have been helpful to link the specific variety of each vegetable I am growing to my garden planner instead of just having genetic information about the vegetable (i.e. Pole beans vs. bush) --An actual garden plan like that offered at your web site would be helpful to lay out the garden in a grid, for use this year and reference in planning future garden layouts ### 2/5 — Sadly not great *2023-05-15, version 10.3.8* Really want this app to work but it is so glitchy!!
