### 2/5 — Recent notification update messes so much up!

*2026-06-19, version 2.20.1*

Me, as many others, can’t always afford an ongoing subscription.
The most recent update no longer sends notifications unless you have a membership! Not even a simple reminder to do a tank refresh. Very disappointing.
If Gardyn claims to actually care about their customers and our planet they wouldn’t make it so membership based. It’s ridiculous. Feels like they’re just another loser company that wants our money:/ I hope they do better as the system itself is well made and they have great information.

### 1/5 — MASSIVE PII Exposure

*2026-04-27, version 2.15.0*

Gardyn has publicly stated that no payment data was exposed. CISA advisory ICSA-26-055-03 (Update A, April 2–4, 2026) documents an unauthenticated endpoint that exposed user records including partial payment card data. Both statements are public. They cannot both be accurate.

### 1/5 — Bad update April 2026

*2026-04-22, version 2.15.0*

My Gardyn has been disconnecting from the network every day since the April 2026 update. Very unhappy.

### 1/5 — All tasks now paywalled

*2026-04-21, version 2.15.0*

Now all tasks are paywalled behind a subscription. Ridiculous for such an expensive product.

### 1/5 — Offline

*2026-04-16, version 2.15.0*

My two gardyns now are offline and won’t connect but they are on my WIFI. App is no help.

### 2/5 — Good hardware, predatory prices for software and seeds

*2026-04-15, version 2.15.0*

They remove most of your app access after your Kelby “free ride” ends. The only service that continues is light schedules and water schedules - they even remove the basic task list that doesn’t require AI.
Buy only for the hardware. the software is overpriced and the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

The hardware is solid, though. It’s thoughtfully designed and usable even after they strip most of your software features. 2/5 stars

### 4/5 — Grow Grow Geow

*2026-04-11, version 2.14.0*

Love having fresh veggies on hand daily without no plastic waste or repeated trips to the store

### 3/5 — Loving it

*2026-04-01, version 2.14.0*

I love my Garden but the cost to keep Kelby running is unrealistic.

### 2/5 — App fails to perform most times. Grow Fails!

*2026-03-28, version 2.14.0*

For a $1300 investment it’s sorely lacking. My first grow went great my second less so and the 3rd failed completely. They waste money and time printing codes on the seed pods that the cameras can clearly see yet the “AI” Kelby can’t read them and you have to look up every single plant manually to know where to put them in the 30 open spaces. The app sends you reminders to complete tasks several times a week yet 2/3 of the time when you “complete” a task the app doesn’t register it and they stack up in your list. They’re aware it’s an issue. I bought mine nearly 3 years ago and it’s been sitting empty for almost since 9/11/25 because I was too irritated to take it apart and clean it again after the last total failure. I cleaned it yesterday and started a new grow only to see that the AI hadn’t watered at all and the app says it was offline all night and my tasks won’t complete. I contacted them about it more than once the first couple grows and they had me do a bunch of deleting and reinstalling the app with no success and no solution. The only reason I’m trying again is because I still had 29 pods and I have spring fever. I’ll come back and let you know if this one fails too. For $49+ a month I’d expect a we’re sorry here’s a few months or even a year frankly but no I got nothing in the end but a lot of erroneous tasks to complete to fix the app problems. With no success. Also despite proper set up the towers don’t stay tightly connected and leak at the joins and the two light rods don’t attach flush. Don’t buy or if anything learn how to manage it yourself.

### 3/5 — Good when it works

*2026-03-21, version 2.14.0*

The app is helpful when it works. As of today, it is not working. No reason why; just shuts immediately when I try to open it and see what my pending tasks are.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2026-08-16*

We had the paid version of this app for the first year and we used all our plant credits and had a huge back stock so we decided not to renew. The free version of the app is so useless. Yes, you can schedule your lighting and watering schedules. That’s about it.
The app no longer gives you reminders for the basic maintenance schedule for your device as of a recent update. I am so disappointed that the journal feature is not available in the free version. We can’t even track our maintenance schedule there. On top of that, the membership is crazy expensive. If it was like $5/mo to access the app features and get no plants, that would be one thing but I cannot possibly justify the cost when I have a closet full of pods already.

### 1/5 — Poor app in 2026

*2026-08-11, version 2.23.1*

No off-hand metrics, schedules, histories, basically just a sales gimmick wrapped in an app

### 1/5 — Misleading Pricing

*2026-08-04, version 2.23.1*

I bought the Gardyn as a birthday present to myself and since, I have come to absolutely LOATH this company. The pricing is 1000% misleading. After spending $600 for a plastic tub, you expect us to pay $30/month with a two year commitment (that’s $700 people!!!) to keep it going? To be clear when you first buy the Gardyn, they give you two weeks of access to “Kelby” the “ai” assistant that tells you when to water, trim, etc. Yet the app never publicly lists any kind of subscription costs. The actual cost is over $30/month unless you sign a multi-year deal which more than doubles the cost. This is misleading marketing at its worst. The only green you’ll be seeing is the $$$ you constantly throw away to keep this POS going.

### 1/5 — Pay to play

*2026-06-27, version 2.21.0*

I bought this thing but they never stop trying to sell me a membership for it to work properly. Scam

### 1/5 — Horrible system

*2026-06-03, version 2.19.0*

This system having to be connected to wi-fi is absolutely ridiculous. I cannot get my system to connect so I’m stuck with a $900 system that I cannot use. We tried contacting the company and did everything that guy told us to do without success. It is so unnecessary to have to connect to WiFi. It’s gardening for God’s sake. Do better Gardyn.

### 1/5 — Change subscription credits

*2026-05-24, version 2.18.0*

I’ve had my Gardyn for over a year now. I love having fresh veggies for salads and I’ve recently started growing flowers. I even started transplanting my extra sprouts into soil so I can have even more veggies this summer!

Fair warning… The Gardyn is a lot of work though. I’ve had many rounds of infection and pests. Taking the whole thing apart and cleaning it thoroughly is an absolute pain. I dread it. Refreshing the tank and trimming roots is not enough to keep the mold away. I’ve recently been paying friends and family to help me with the cleaning because it takes hours by yourself for the larger one.

Another thing, the ai offers basically no help. I should be able to set individual sow dates for each plant so I can get some guidance on care instructions, etc. I should be able to tell the ai which plant is in each spot so it can watch and track them. It’s literally useless. When I ask it for help, it sends me to the booklet. And the app doesn’t even track every plant I’ve purchased and keep them in a place where I can easily access them. I have to look each one up and if I can’t remember the exact name of the plant if I’m not standing at my Gardyn, I’m screwed.

My biggest concern, however, is the subscription. I absolutely cannot stand the fact that the credits cannot be used towards anything besides seeds and plant food. I have more seeds than I could ever even use and enough plant food to last me six months if I cancelled now. My seed stock is a sight to see. I want to use my credits to pay for the heavily overpriced parts and accessories, but I cannot. It’s extremely frustrating. If I’m giving them my money every month, I should be able to use it as I see fit. If this were to change, I would gladly increase my review to four, or even five stars. Until then, I will keep eating the $25 monthly charge for more and more seeds that I will never use and useless ai that is being powered by a data center that is surely ruining someone’s life.

### 1/5 — Don’t pay for anything

*2026-05-22, version 2.18.0*

All of their subscription services and y pods are a complete scam. You’re being totally ripped off. But the device itself is great.

### 1/5 — Glitching like crazy now

*2026-05-10, version 2.17.0*

It works for months or even a year, but once it glitches, it will create havoc and possibly kill your plants, plus be an enormous time suck to get repaired. Gardyn can’t seem to fix it and minimizes the problem.

### 1/5 — Still garbage they hide behind more and more paywalls

*2026-05-10, version 2.17.0*

Whatever is included now won’t stay, app is unstable, and their devs push updates that will turn your unit on in the middle of the night

### 1/5 — Blocking Sign In

*2026-05-06, version 2.16.0*

The app should be available for sign in without blocking the app. Dialog box “Update,” after major power outage; I need to get to my settings.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fun without the sun

*2026-07-25, version 2.23.1*

I have had my unit for about a month growing is easy enough and I am currently harvesting so thats been awesome flavor is good fresh the only drawback is the expense at this point not sure its cost affective I don’t like that you need to purchase PVC caps that are way over priced I think that should all come with the initial purchase then only pay for replacement or additional items

### 5/5 — Great!

*2026-07-19, version 2.22.0*

I can’t say enough good things about My Gardyn! I absolutely LOVE it. Worth the price.

### 5/5 — My Gardyn

*2026-07-16, version 2.22.0*

Wow. This is an amazing hobby. I love tending to my Gardyn. It’s brought me some joy since my husband passed in February. It’s helped me deal with it by keeping me busy but not too busy that it’s too much.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2026-07-10, version 2.22.0*

So happy I took the plunge and invested in this garden. We’re hosting our daughter’s wedding so I wanted all my pots and raised beds full of flowers this year. Bought things I could at least grow my salads inside. And what salads they are, bought two more for my house in Florida.

### 5/5 — Grows great

*2026-06-17, version 2.20.1*

With the app it is a no brainer. Fresh salad every week.

### 5/5 — Love It!

*2026-06-09, version 2.20.0*

I’ve had my GARDYN for 3 years and honestly, it’s just so therapeutic. The support is amazing and growing herbs and veggies in small batches are just fun and nutritious! I will alternate mine from herbs and veggies one time to just flowers the next and the results are beautiful and just add warmth to any environment

### 5/5 — Review

*2026-06-01, version 2.19.0*

Amazing veggies that are fresh.

### 5/5 — Best purchase ever! Love my Gardyns

*2026-05-19, version 2.17.0*

I absolutely love this hydroponic garden. It is so easy to grow. I am always amazed at how fast the everything grows. I loved it so much I bought a second one. Kelby lets me know when I need to do something which keeps my Gardyn growing strong. Best purchase for my health. The variety of plants to choose from it great too.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2026-05-09, version 2.17.0*

I bought the studio and my only complaint is that I wish I’d bought the home version. Loving the Gardyn and the app is easy to use.

### 5/5 — I love my Gardyn!!!

*2026-04-25, version 2.15.0*

I had been watching Gardyn for quite a while longingly. My daughter got me one for Christmas. I have loved learning about plants with my assistant Kelby and seeing my plants grow. I want two more.
