I have it for my nine year-old granddaughter the notifications that come to me or not loud enough. I actually went to the Apple Store and they couldn’t help me with it either. It’s just not loud enough and my messages can’t go through. I’m unable to send voice messages anymore. It says that you can make calls on this watch. I don’t know about that at all. I appreciate the tracking and 2-way communication options. My son loves to be able to play music and track his miles for running and being water proof. He also appreciates the 2 way communication as he can contact me with questions or ask to be picked up earlier than planned. ### 4/5 — Love but Inconsistent *2026-08-03, version 7.5.1* App is awesome for tracking the kiddo, doing chores, sending a text or call. He loves it SO much. Texts and calls don’t always seem to push through though and the requirement to use the app for that feature (when it works) is understandable but inconvenient. ### 2/5 — Voice messages issues *2026-08-02, version 7.5.1* I’ve been using the app to track and communicate with my daughter. Overall, it works well, but I’ve noticed a recurring issue with voice messages. After recording a message, it often gets deleted instead of being sent. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn’t. I hope Garmin fixes this bug in a future update. ### 3/5 — Has some issues *2026-07-26, version 7.5.1* My grands have some of the watches and like them. The only frustrating part is a lot of times when we try to send a voice message to them it just won’t work completely, It randomly stops recording in the middle of the message. Or I’ll finish the message and press stop and it disappears. Also making calls to them and them to us can be very hit or miss. Sometimes it doesn’t go through, or sometimes they call and my phone isn’t alerted. They don’t have a problem sending voice messages to us, so that part is great. Love getting those! It comes with backgrounds you can choose from for the main screen. The watch material can be easily broken or ripped if you pull it so i don’t recommend pulling it. Watch is waterproof and the app comes with a nice adventure game my kids can play with. Before I updated this issue wasn’t happening anymore. It used to but finally worked great. Now this new update has ruined it again. When people ask me my thoughts on the watches I’m straight up and say they the parent app sucks. If you can handle the frustration go ahead…. But I would NOT buy again only because of the app ### 1/5 — Updates erase your history - takes forever to work… *2026-07-17, version 7.5* Garmin Jr. takes so long to connect to my son’s watch that it’s more beneficial to go out looking on my own. Messages take so long to be delivered, it’s often the next day either of us receive them. Last updates wiped my entire text history. This would all be fine in 2015. But it’s 2026… ### 1/5 — Location won’t work *2026-07-04, version 7.4.1* If you’re hoping to be able to see where your kid is with this watch think again. It will not work when you need it to. Messages do not send right away and may not send at all. Tracking will pick one location if the kid is moving around and stick there. Live tracking does not work while trying to locate kid. Can’t recommend. ### 1/5 — Decent, not good. *2026-07-02, version 7.4.1* If you’re buying the watch and paying the subscription just note messages and location only works about 20% of the time. We’re urban area and I thought it would work but it doesn’t. Doesn’t location track and messages are delayed if delivered at all. I don’t recommend and I’d return if I had the option. It does work for tracking activity and steps. Unfortunately it’s not. Some days, and in some really important moments, it just decides not to work, not to track, not to send messages. But only my wife can communicate or use. I can see the family but with settings set to guardian or any other setting that allows communication nothing works. Their is not guides to help with issues.
