## What is Gatekeep?

Gatekeep puts a short challenge: math, a word, logic, a memory pattern, or a few slow breaths, between you and the apps you open without thinking. Solve it, and the app unlocks for a set time. When that time's up, it locks again.

Pick which apps to gate, how hard the challenge is, and how long each unlock lasts. Gatekeep tracks your streak, shows a countdown on your Lock Screen while unlocked, and gives you stats on what you open and how often.

Built on Apple's Screen Time framework. Nothing leaves your device.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-09-21

- bug fixes, security and QOL improvements

### 1.0.5.1 — 2026-08-27

- general bug fixes and performance improvement related to streaks

### 1.05 — 2026-08-19

Randomized challenges
Choose as many challenge types as you like for each app: arithmetic, vocabulary, logic, pattern, breathing. Gatekeep now picks one at random every time you reach a gate, so the way in is never the same twice. If you've been getting through on muscle memory, you won't be anymore.

Daily unlock budgets
Budgets are now counted in unlocks rather than minutes, so they always line up with your unlock window. Decide how many times a day an app may open. When you reach the limit, Gatekeep says so before you spend another one. You can still go through but it costs your streak.

Also in this release:
• Streaks now count up correctly from day to day
• Fixed a case where finishing a challenge left a panel behind that blocked your next unlock
• More consistent spacing throughout setup
• Your intention now appears in full on the last setup screen

### 1.04 — 2026-08-07

- fixed a bug where unlocked apps were not automatically locking after gate timer ran out

### 1.03 — 2026-07-31

No release notes.
