If you have any issues with this, please contact us at support@gatherapp.co Next, we are not trying to claim we are free. Gather has both free and paid features, but we don't want to hide the fact that there are paid features. In all of our advertising, we mention the subscription, and in the description of the app, as well as the app screenshots, we mention this as well. I love that this app gives me accurate availability timings for my area of when something is in season as well as the ability to set up notifications for them so I **don’t** forget anymore. It’ll be a game changer for me and allow me to make the most of the foraging year. The only thing you can do without paying is journal. Zero help. App makes you go thru all the prompts, captures your email to spam later, then finally tells you to pay to unlock every feature. I met the young man in battleground at an event where he had a booth and offered to take him Morel hunting at my land. (This is the only safe approach when it comes to consuming wild goods) In addition to all the tools like predictive timings, foraging, and lookalikes guide, custom notifications, and more, other photo-ID apps are lacking. We have a lot of foraging books that we personally love and recommend. That being said, after we've spent and continue to spend thousands of hours and dollars making this the best foraging app possible, it's disappointing that you would give us a 1-star review simply because you prefer books over an app. ### 1/5 — Gross *2025-10-17* Why on earth is this a subscription based app? Greed? It seems like a digital field guide and an already complete application. No significant changes in the future other than tuning and fixes means it should be a purchase. If this were a reasonably priced purchased app I would be happy to buy it and support a small creator. No service is truly being offered to justify a subscription model. Especially $60?! Making a ‘digital book’ subscription based is disgusting. **Developer response:** Hey, we're not sure what you're basing your claim of 'No significant changes in the future' on. I would have preferred an app that allows you to use limited features for free with an option to subscribe for wider or more precise features (ie info on berries and fruits are free but mushrooms and other plants/herbs are only available to subscribers). **Developer response:** Hey! The reason one might forage is because they can’t afford money. this is taking away from that **Developer response:** The premise of this review is simply untrue. You speak as if we've somehow taken something away by creating this app, but all that we have done is add something new, a new way to start or advance along one's foraging journal. (Which is completely optional!) The claim that people forage because they don't have much money is also untrue. There are many reasons people choose to forage that have nothing to do with money. It is a skill that is open to all! You call it greed, but after spending and continuing to spend thousands of dollars making this the best foraging app possible, our team is simply trying to make a living.
