I contacted the customer service which took 24 hours to get back to me only to tell me that basically they couldn't help ### 1/5 — This app peaked a decade ago. *2022-10-30, version 4.15.14* Horrendous app. It used to be much better 10+ years ago. Now everything on here is situated behind a paywall. I remember when you could filter your searches and find profiles from all over your city. Even further! Other countries even. Gaydar has now followed Grindr’s formula of now only letting you view guys due to proximity. But in a less satisfying way. At least Grindr’s perks were that it has a lot more users and it also had the “explore” feature. Why emulate an app that was created after this app? Gaydar was better when it was a simple online hookup site that where you could search for other guys without any hassle. That was the appeal. Now that there is a paywall behind the search engine and a limited view of the profiles there it honestly just cheapens the app. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when I couldn’t even successfully upload a simple shirtless photo (only torso) because it was deemed too x-rated. No one really uses it, which is sad as it was the first. The owners clearly see it only as a money making exercise and want to charge to do virtually anything on the site including seeing who may have checked you out! Legendary, well established, trusted brand RUINED! Frustrating, sad, disappointing... I would love to offer some constructive criticism but app is almost impossible to use, so why even bother. Oh, and that ugly blue layout is crime of its own. What happened to that iconic yellow/white design? I haven’t been able to access my inbox for ages, it’s just won’t download! I think it’s time to give it up now. The gaydar days are long gone. So I signed up and paid my fees. No sooner had I done that, I lost the ability to send and receive messages. I contacted support three times and still have had zero response. So I now have a paid for chat app that doesn’t allow me to chat. But it does send me notifications to let me know about all the folk I can’t respond to. Very frustrating and clearly no value for money.
